home staging: Season 2 of The Stagers on HGTV - 03/30/09 11:32 PM
The Stagers on HGTV have make their impression on the home staging industry and have found away to really explain what staging really is about and how it benefits the seller.  Having a better understanding of this business is what the general population needs.  I am constantly networking and shocked as well as disappointed that so few people know about Home Staging or Real Estate Marketing.  Where as my favorites HGTV progs, )Design To Sell, The Unsaleables, Get it Sold) do a fair job of depicting what staging is and can do for the home seller. The Stagers break it down, … (8 comments)

home staging: Hang artwork without putting holes in the walls - 03/14/09 10:20 PM

Thanks to Maureen Bray, I searched AR for solutions on hanging wall art without nails.  I found this post by Virginia Tatseos of Stage-Show-Sell that supports the 3M Command Picture Hanging Strips.  I saw them in the store the other day, but didn't purchase them.  But, with Virginia's post I feel the product just might be reliable and a solution to my dilemma.  Thanks Virgina for sharing your experience with this product.

home staging: Security Issues With Staging Vacant Homes - 03/13/09 07:23 PM
I was so excited when I got the call to stage two vacant properties because this would be the first project to stage from scratch.  All sorts of ideas and plans were plaguing my thoughts.  I pulled up the pictures on the MLS so that I would have an initial visual and even some room dimensions.  The next day, I was even more excited because I was able to tour the property with the agent and see exactly what type of space I was working with.  I sketched the rooms, though not to exact scale, and began to do my "shopping" … (18 comments)

home staging: Welcome to Active Rain - Courtney Williams, Mike Holmes, and Carolyn Fisher of Houston, TX - 03/13/09 12:07 AM
Everywhere I go I talk about Active Rain, my experiences on Active Rain and how I have benefited from the networking.  And everytime I mention Active Rain, it surprises me how few real estate professionals here in Houston, TX have heard about it.  But this week I had the priviledge of staging a property for Courtney Williams and through my invitation she joined.
Then, on Wednesday I made a presentation to Weichert Realtor's, Wayne Murray Properties in Houston, TX.  During my presentation I mentioned Active Rain and as a result we have two new members:  Carolyn Fisher and Mike Holmes.

home staging: Can You Pass This Test - Something Just For Fun! - 03/05/09 12:15 PM
Do you know when to start packing?  How is the "Rule of Three" applied?  What's the best way to make the laundry room appeal to buyers?  What can you do to make the room look larger?  What is an affordable item that can be used throughout the home for staging?
I found this quiz to test your Staging savviness on Realtors.org.  Its short and fairly easy, for stagers anyway.  Some questions make you think twice, however.  Barb Schwarz, of Stagedhomes.com, help create this quiz.
If you score 100% rest assured you have a talent for staging and should use that talent … (9 comments)

home staging: Been Kinda Down but Max Lifted Me Up Today! - 03/05/09 10:30 AM
When marketing and bloggling you never know who's getting the info and message.  And, you never know just how much your blogging is appreciated.  I wrote a blog on February 25 titled, "Someone Once Said Staging Doesn't Cost A Penny".  This blog talks about how sellers can recoup their staging investments by 343% when selling their home.
So, this morning, I'm feeling a little down, cause I haven't staged a house this week, money is funny, and bills are due.  I go to the mailbox and there's this package.  I opened it up to find the most precious, peach colored monkey … (14 comments)

home staging: It is not good for Realtors to be alone... - 03/03/09 06:20 PM
...they need a helper.  Everybody needs somebody, including Real Estate Agents and Brokers.  You need somebody-a strategic partner, who cares about you and your business, your clients needs, and your goals and quotas.  I'm sure you could use a trusted friend - someone to listen to you and who you can confide in and trust wholeheartedly.  Someone devoted to you.  Someone dependable and reliable.  Someone who won't let you down or disappoint you.  Isn't it wonderful knowing that there is someone you can pick up the phone and call and they respond "Sure, I can help.  Just tell me what you … (21 comments)

home staging: You Have To Try This Tool - Home Sale Maximizer and Improvement Calculator - 03/02/09 10:07 PM

This tool is sooooo coo!.  You enter the zip code of a staging project, answer the questions about home improvements needed and it will calculate the projected cost of the project, by what amount the improvement will increase the sell price, the projected ROI, and the percentage of real estate agents recommendating the improvement.
This tool can be used after you conduct the initial consultation and while preparing the consulation report to help you estimate how you will charge for the services.

home staging: Stop! Don't do It! No, No, No! Don't Reduce That Price! - 02/26/09 08:07 AM
Is it really necessary to reduce the price?  OK- so the economy is tough.  Go ahead and have that property professional staged to sell faster!  If staging is not your choice, or you don't see the value in stagig, then, yes, go ahead and reduce the price, again.
If you're not taking advantage of the services offered by Professional Home Stagers, you can expect your listing to remain on the market another 2 months.  By this time your seller is becoming disgruntled and frustrated (and so are you) and is possibly at the point of pulling their home of the market … (19 comments)

home staging: Someone Once Said Staging Doesn't Cost A Penny! - 02/25/09 08:30 AM
Do sellers really understand and know the phenomenal impact of professional home staging?  Or even the two-fold objective of home staging to sell faster and for more money?  I don't think they really realize how much more money they could make on the sell of their home simply due to a small investment in staging.
According to the 2007 Home Gain Survey of over 2,000 realtors, if the seller invested only $500 on staging, they could recoup over 343% of the cost in the sale of the home (Source: Home Staging Resouce).
The Proof is in Staging!  I staged our rental … (35 comments)
