buyer: Myth: I'll get the best deal on the house if I call the agent listed on the For Sale sign - 06/08/08 05:28 PM

BUYERS, IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT PURCHASING A HOME IN THE NEAR FUTURE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT LOOKING ONLINE AND CALLING THE NUMBER ON THE SIGN IN THE FRONT YARD.
THE PERSON ON THE SIGN IS WORKING FOR THE SELLER NOT YOU! DO YOU WANT SOMEONE WORKING FOR YOU?
BUYER: "BUT I WILL GET A BETTER DEAL IF I GO STRAIGHT TO THE LISTING AGENT AND CUT YOU OUT."
ME: NO!
TRADITIONALLY THE SELLER PAYS 6% OF THE SELLING PRICE TO REALTORS. 3% TO THE LISTING AGENT AND 3% TO THE BUYERS AGENT.
