photography: Country Living Surrounds Lake Anna - 05/24/11 11:17 PM
Country living surrounds Lake Anna. There are so many times I think about how lucky Lake Anna residents are to be living in such a special place. The lake is here, all 13,000 acres of it, with plenty of places to boat, swim, fish, jet ski, wakeboard, and other kinds of fun. On top of this we are surrounded by beautiful countryside. Driving these roads on a daily basis, year after year, still leaves me shaking my head at being here. There are so many farms to admire, horses in pastures, cows lying down in the grass soaking up the sun,

photography: I'm Running out of Words - 05/17/11 12:14 AM
I'm running out of words. Never thought I'd say that but it's the truth. I have been viewing and reading the many entries for the Active Rain Photoblogger Conest and it is doing me in. I believe I have read every one. I may have missed one or two and if I did I'm sorry. Please let me know if I missed yours and I will be sure to take a look. OK...this problem I'm having with words is real. Right now there are 115 entries (114 not counting mine) and I've commented on all/most. Whatever. How often can I get away with using wonderful? Beautiful? Amazing?

photography: Roaming Lake Anna Roads #2 - 05/15/11 07:29 PM
If you dream about living at a lake, Lake Anna may be the perfect spot for you. Many have thought so and many more will. There's much to discover here and it is a fun place to visit and an even better place to live. On December 1, 2010 I was crossing Dike 3 over the lake and noticed how the setting sun was to my right and to my left the sun was casting a beautiful glow. The colors of the chairs and the flag were so bright while the sky provided a subtle background. I knew I needed to

photography: Roaming Lake Anna Roads...What Might You See? - 05/14/11 07:25 PM
Roaming Lake Anna Roads...what might you see? Well, I never know what I'll see! The other day I was on my way to the office. As I drove along I passed a spot I've driven by hundreds thousands of times. The folks living on this property have sheep, goats, chickens, dogs, and who knows what else. There's a pond close to the road so there are generally some animals fairly close to the road, although fenced in. On this particular day I was driving along and as I passed by, out of the corner of my eye I saw a goat

photography: Active Rain's Photo Bloggers Challenge Provides a Feast for the Eye and the Mind - 05/11/11 11:20 PM
The Active Rain Photo Bloggers Challenge has been a great opportunity to not only look at some of the wonderful photos entered but to also read the writings. Some of the stories are very touching, others funny, and a fair number that managed to link their photo with real estate. Perhaps because I have pictures on my mind I decided to post another one of mine. Yes, I did take up the challenge with a photo I had taken in Tibet on a trip I took there in 2005. Here is one from another trip a short time later. This

photography: My Kodak Moment...Cruising to Antarctica - 12/13/10 09:23 PM
My Kodak Moment...Cruising to Antarctica With the thousands of photos I have it is extremely hard to find one that stands out as THE Kodak Moment. Fortunately we have so many of them. During a trip to China and Tibet I took over 1,000 shots. Oh, the wonders of digital photography. The picture I selected for this post was taken on a cruise ship in the waters off Antarctica. photography: My Active Rain Eyes Got an Eyeful - 11/09/08 05:50 PM
Are many of us really looking forward to winter? I do and I don't...mostly don't. However, year after year it shows up anyway right after fall. Ah, fall. Last Friday my husband,, Jim and I took our Tritoon out for a cruise. We were headed to Sturgeon Creek Marina to have "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" detailed.* Having been on Active Rain long enough to know that one goes nowhere, absolutely nowhere, without a camera I of course had mine. A total of 217 pictures where taken during out five mile cruise. Wait a minute, how could that possibly happen. Well,
