Where Can You Find Pleasure Island at Lake Anna, VA?
Pleasure Island is tucked away far from the maddening crowds. Entrance is through another subdivision, Magnolia Harbour, and is accessed off Courthouse Road (Route 208) in Spotsylvania County.
This subdivision is one of the smallest at Lake Anna. It is composed entirely of waterfront lots, some with spectacular views and shorelines.
Like many of the subdivisions around Lake Anna, Pleasure Island is replete with handsome hardwood trees. Beautiful all year round, it peaks during the fall when the colorful foliage is reflected in the lake.

See how many you can fit in your schedule. Louisa is Ready to Start Celebrating Louisa's Christmas parade, with an expected 40 floats, will start at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5. The parade will begin at the corner of Patrick Henry Drive and Cutler Road turning left on Main Street to Fredericksubrg Ave. and then back to the fairgrounds.

FAAR's (Fredericksburg Area Association of REALTORS) Sixth Annual Cereal drive is underway. With 38 real estate companies collecting donations of cereal and/or money, we are well ahead of last year when there were 27 companies. Area food banks will benefit from the efforts of REALTORS in your communities.
Please be as supportive as you can be. The economy has been hard on many of us and yet there are those that have been affected even more. Food banks are there to help these neigbors and often provide the food that makes a difference between hunger and a decent meal.

One of the attractions of Lake Anna is its rural setting. Lake Anna is surrounded by Spotsylvania, Louisa, and Orange counties although most of the lake is within the first two.
Located out in the country, public services are not available. Homeowners rely on well and septic fields in place of public sewage and public water. Most of the septic fields are gravity feed while others are pump up systems with holding tanks.
Site evaluation and soil assessment may determine that neither one of these systems is viable. At that point alternative septic systems are generally considered. I should add that some property owners … (2 comments)

Lake Anna is very much in the center of Virginia which makes it a great spot to live or to spend time. From Lake Anna you have the opportunity to quickly get to so many other areas from Northern Virginia to the Tidewater area to the southwest section of Virginia. A convenient drive from Lake Anna takes you up to the D.C. metropolitan area with all the ethnic restaurants, cultural activities, museums, national monuments, and other major attractions.

Just the other day I was out driving and suddenly I noticed a Newbie in my neighborhood. Of course, I did not keep driving. I put my car in park, hit the hazard light button, put my window down, and began to snap pictures.
Some Newbies may be shy but not this guy. After the first shot, he called out for me to zoom in even closer. I did. He really did not seem to mind that I got up close and personal with my camera.

On the way to Connecticut to visit my mom, I took a few minutes to cast my vote. Virginians had their primary almost two weeks ago and the turnout was terrific.
Voting, for my precinct, was held at the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department on Partlow Road. It is the same place where I've been going to vote since moving to Lake Anna in 1992. There have been times that I have worked outside in support of candidates so it is a familiar place.
What makes it nice is that most of the poll workers have been there each and every time I've gone. … (5 comments)

People tend to be amused when they hear where I live. Bumpass. Now that's a different name.
Several years ago I met a man while traveling from Sitka back to Juneau, Alaska on the overnight ferry. He was checking tickets and saw the address on the ticket envelope. Yes, he knew where Bumpass was. At first I was...Oh, sure. But, he did. His folks lived down here right by Lake Anna and sure enough he knew quite a lot about the area.
Currently there are several postal addresses for the Lake Anna area: Spotsylvania, Mineral, Bumpass, Louisa, Partlow, and Orange.
