After almost 3 years of delays, cancellations and short sale attempts, this property finally sold on the court house steps in the foreclosure sale. It was purchased by an investor, and will probably come back on the market in the near future. … (6 comments)

trustee sale: Foreclosure Sale at the Orange County Courthouse - 09/21/08 01:52 PM

I've heard for years about foreclosure sales taking place "on the courthouse steps," and had a picture in my mind of crowds gathered on a wide stairway in front of a courthouse, and furiously bidding on bargain properties. Of course, in my mind, this "crowd" would be very formally dressed bankers and wealthy investors.
Well, not only is this process not held on the courthouse steps (it's in the breezeway on level ground), but most of the participants, including the auctioneer, are dressed in comfortable shoes, and very casual clothes appropriate for the weather conditions! So much for mental pictures!
