Show your patriotic flair at Lake Havasu's Fall Fun Fair on Saturday, October 17th, 2009, by wearing costumes comprised of red, white and blue colors. Lake Havasu's Fall Fun Fair will be held from 3-7pm at Rotary Park. The theme this year is "Havasu - Show Your Red, White & Blue". So, put on your best patriotic costume, bring the kiddies along and you can participate in the special Fall Fun Fair Parade at 5pm. The first 2,000 kids to arrive for the Fall Fun Fair get a special bag of treats courtesy of the Havasu Community Credit Union. In addition to the parade, the Lake Havasu Fall Fun Fair will have games, live entertainment, food and pony rides. Tickets are only $0.25 each for games and activities. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit local PTAs, PTOs and other non-profit groups in Lake Havasu City. Limited parking is availble in Rotary Park, but overflow parking is allowed at the adjacent Aquatic Center.

Lake Havasu Residents Encouraged to Comment on BLM Lease for City

Lake Havasu residents are encouraged to comment on the City's request for a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lease at an open house scheduled for October 21, 2009 from 6-8pm. The open house will be held at the Lake Havasu City Chambers in the police facility located at 2360 McCulloch Blvd N. The City is requesting to lease 280 acres from the BLM for various proposed recreation activities, including creating an 18-hole municipal golf course, driving range and practice facilities, hiking/nature trails, environmental education facility/visitors center, an official convention and fine arts/performing arts center (currently conducted at the Lake Havasu High School), an outdoor amphitheater, extended utilities, hiking and nature trails and a two lane boulevard. Lake Havasu Housing Stats for July 2009

The Lake Havasu housing stats for July 2009 are in and they are looking good. According to the Lake Havasu Association of REALTORS®, the sales of single-family homes, multi-family homes and vacant land in Lake Havasu City were up in July 2009 compared to the same time last year. Sales of single-family homes were up 43% (140 units sold in July 2009 vs 98 sold in July 2008), sales of vacant parcels of land were up 33% (12 lots sold in July 2009 vs 9 sold in July 2008) and sales of multi-family homes were up 150% (5 sold in July 2009 vs 2 sold in July 2008). Single-family and multi-family home sales are experiencing an upswing in year-to-date figures for 2009 compared to the same time period as last year as well, with single-family home sales up almost 25% and multi-family homes up almost 108%. Vacant land sales have remained almost the same. Even though the average sale price for a single-family home in Lake Havasu in July 2009 was much lower than the same time last year (currently at $187,627), it has actually increased from May and June. Is this a leveling out of the market? You would need a crystal ball to tell. But, I can tell you this for sure: with these prices and the expiration date for the $8000 First Time Home Buyers Tax Credit quickly approaching, now is the time to buy your Lake Havasu home. Lake Havasu City Family Safety Day and Fire Truck Tug

Saturday, September 26th is the big day here in Lake Havasu City for the amazing Fire Truck Tug and Family Safety Day. The Fire Truck Tug, is exactly what it sounds like: a tug of war. Teams will compete to see who can pull the fire truck 10 feet in the shortest amount of time. Competing teams will be co-ed as well as all male and all female. Each team will be using their brute strength to impress and entertain you while raising funds for the Special Olympics. The fire truck to be used for the event is from our own great Lake Havasu City Fire Department.

Family Safety Day will be held at Rotary Community Park between 9am and 1pm. As the name implies, this is a day in which families can have a lot of fun while learning more about safety. There will be booths on hand with information about safety in vaious areas of your lives. There will even be a place where you can have your child's car seat checked for safety.

The day will include airbrushed tattoos, a bounce house, crafts and prizes. There will also be skate board competitions at the skate park.

*****All funds raised by the Fire Truck Tug will be donated to the Special Olympics*****

Time is Running Out for the First Time Homebuyer's Tax Credit in Lake Havasu

Time is running our for Lake Havasu first-time home buyers to take advantage of the First-Time Home Buyers Tax Credit. It is September already! This means you only have a few more weeks to locate a home and close escrow before the November 30, 2009 deadline.

Don't Wait or You May Lose Out

At this time, there is no extension to the tax credit, even if you are in escrow. Sometimes, delays occur and escrow extends the expected timeline. Loan processing may take a little longer than is expected or there may be some issue that would come up in escrow that would take time to resolve. No matter what the reason for the delay, you will lose the tax credit if escrow does not close on or before November 30. So, opening escow as soon as possible is critical.

Tax Credit Advantages

    * Dollar-for-dollar credit - the credit is deducted from the money you owe the IRS; any balance is refunded to you.
    * The money is free - there is no pay back required, ever.
    * In some cases, the tax credit can be applied towards your down payment or closing costs; any remaining funds will be credited to you.

Who is a First Time Home Buyer?

* Anyone who has not owned a home within the past three years.

How Much is the Tax Credit?

* 10% of the purchase price up to $8,000.

Income Limits

    * $75,000 for singles.
    * $150,000 for married couples filing a joint return.
    * The tax credit is reduced for buyers with a modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) of more than $75,000 (single) or $150,000 (married, filing a jointly).
    * There is a phase out tax credit for those earning more than the income limit - contact a qualified tax professional to see if you qualify.
    * Partial credits are available for some home buyers whose MAGI exceeds the phaseout limits - contact a qualified tax professional to see if you qualify.

Restrictions

* The home purchased must be your principal residence.
* You must live in the home for three (3) years - if you change residences before that time, you must repay the credit.

There has been much talk of extending or expanding the tax credit. But, as it stands for now, the opportunity to take advantage of the tax credit will soon go away. Remember, you must close escrow on or before November 30. The contract date will not matter. It is the closing date (the date you officially become the owner) that will determine your eligibility for the First-Time Buyers Tax Credit.

Windsor Beach Renovation

The renovation for Windsor Beach has begun, thanks to the efforts of the Lake Havasu City Marine Association. A $600,000 renovation is planned for Windsor Beach. The renovations not only improve existing docks at Windsor Beach, but will also add three new ones. The new docks will be placed at Windsor Beach 4, another at the personal watercraft ramp on the west and a third one west of the south ramp.

The new aluminum docks were delivered near the Triple Axle parking lot on August 3rd. The Lake Havasu City Marine Association hopes to have them all in place by Labor Day. The planned work schedule is posted at the beach entrance. Other planned renovations include new sidewalks and asphalt repair at the north ramp.

The Lake Havasu City Marine Association began raising funds last year to replace the existing floating docks at Windsor Beach. Due to their efforts, the federal funds (not part of the stimulus package), grants and private donations have made the planned renovation possible. According to Ron Christofferson of the Arizona Game and Fish Department, "This is the first private and government partnership that I know of in the state to get docks installed like this."

The Lake Havasu City Marine Association is still looking for volunteers to help with the dock placement and other renovations. If you are interested in helping out, call Les John at 928-854-2590.

Lake Havasu Unified School District is offering parents and students more choices in education.
The reasons that parents would choose a non-traditional school setting are many and varied. Lake Havasu Unified is offering parents an outstanding tuition-free alternative. Choices in education are important to Lake Havasu parents. Many are opting for homeschooling. Now, Arizona is offering parents another great alternative: it is tuition-free IQ Academy.

IQ Academy is a fully accredited school for grades K-12 which brings education into a student's home via the internet. The virtual classroom is structured and yet adaptable to each student's particular needs and schedules. Like regular school, tests are given and passing or failing classes is determined by taking them. Students who consistently do well, gathering enough points through the semester, are going to be prepared for their tests. This is why attendance is critical. Students interact with other students who are not only in Lake Havasu and the state of Arizona, but with other virtual students and teachers across the nation.

Lake Havasu Real Estate Continues Upward Trend In June

The June reports are in and the results show that the real estate market in Lake Havasu continues on its upward trend.

June Reports:

Closed Escrows: 150
Total Sales Volume: $25,786,988

Total number of homes which have sold this year is 797. That is 143 homes more than last year at this time. The total sales volume for the month of June was also improved by over $250,000 from June 2008.

Foreclosures are still impacting our market, but it does seem to be stabilizing. The recovery will be slow in the months ahead. We will probably not return to normal market conditions for a year or two. However, home values are expected increase next year.

Many home buyers have been waiting for the bottom to of the real estate market to be reached. Reports nationally indicate that many markets have reached bottom, with prices now on an upward trend and inventories decreasing.

Phoenix area sales up 56% (DataQuick)
Phoenix ares sales prices up 3.5% (DataQuick)
Sales prices up nationally in key areas (Stand and Poors)
Sales activity up for four consecutive months (National Association of Realtors)
Sales activity up in Orlando by an amazing 206% (RealtyTimes.com)
Sales activity up in Riverside-San Bernardino 56% (RealtyTimes.com)

I am by no means trying to paint a rosy picture or stating that all is well and good. I am letting you know that the indicators are that the real estate market has begun to turn around and the real estate market is changing.

The number of foreclosures due to toxic loans are decreasing steadily and will continue to do so. However, foreclosures will remain a problem, continuing to impact impact home values for a while longer.

The availabilty of mortgage loans will also impact the market. Credit is still tight. Buyers must demonstrate a strong credit worthiness and underwriters are still combing through loan applications with a fine tooth comb. Speaking of mortgages; interest rates have dropped. The current interest rate is just a little over 5%.

Take advantage of today's market because it will not last forever and will eventually move back into the seller's favor.

4th of July Lake Havasu Festival

The 4th of July is always a fun time in Lake Havasu City. This year, Lake Havasu will be celebrating the birth of our nation with a 3-day festival.

Where: London Bridge Beach Park (next to the dog park), beginning today at 1:00 pm

Admission: Free

The 4th of July Lake Havasu Festival will feature live 70s rock music performed by Classic Old School and Badd Apple. A DJ will also be on hand to play 70s classic rock. Vendors will be on hand with a variety of wares. B oats and all-terrain vechiles will be on display. The festival also includes a food court and Beer Gardens.

There will be a 20 minute fireworks show tonight and tomorrow night.

Seize the Day - Lake Havasu Part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted a blog entitled Seize the Day - Lake Havasu Opportunities Won't Last Forever. At that time, I did not realize that there would be a Part 2. But, after reading the latest real estate news, I found that there was good reason to write a Part 2, or "the rest of the story" (for all the Paul Harvey fans).

There is much happening on the real estate front. So, deciding what to post today was rather difficult. I decided to post what I believe is the most urgent news and disappearing opportunities for Lake Havasu home buyers:

* Interest Rates are UP!
* First-Time Home Buyers Tax Credit - Time is Running Out

Interest Rates are UP

* Wall Street affects Main Street once again - Treasury Yield Bonds are causing interest rates to rise.
* Interest rates have jumped in the past 3 weeks from all-time lows to today's current rates.

~April rates were as low as 4.75%
~May rates were as low as 4.91%
~Today's Arizona rates are 5.375% - 5.875%

In my first Seize the Day post, I made the following statement: "seize the day - take advantage of the opportunity to get the lowest interest rates in 40 years!"

o Unfortunately, that day may already have passed.
o Rates are still lower than last year's rates (6.5%).
o Following a quick rise in rates, many times there is a fall back. However it is very unlikely that rates will fall below 5%.
o Higher interest rates mean higher mortgage payments.
o Higher interest rates mean qualifying for a lower sales price.
o Buyers have lost more than $13,000 in purchasing power in less that two weeks.

First-Time Home Buyers Tax Credit - Time is Running Out

* Escrow must close on or before November 30, 2009 to qualify for the tax credit.
* Loan processing times have, in some cases, increased due to underwriter scrutiny. Don't wait too long.

* The economy is expected to recover in the fourth quarter.
* The foreclosure rates are still extremely high, but the numbers are beginning to decrease.
* The real estate market is expected to make a full recovery by 2011.
* As the market stabilizes, inventory will decrease.
* As the market stabilizes, home sales prices will increase.

It is time to forget the doom and gloom. It is time to seize the day.

Jack Hardie Park Is Remodeled For Everyone

I am so proud of our Lake Havasu Parks and Recreation Department. They have just upgraded the Jack Hardie Memorial Park, so that everyone can play and enjoy the park facilities, keeping those with physical challenges in mind. The Jack Hardie Memorial Park is the first park in Lake Havasu to meet ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) standards.

Everyone, resident or visitor, will enjoy the new features at the Jack Hardie Memorial Park. The park now features ramps that go right up to the swings and play area. In addition, the play area has been enhanced with new playground equipment and a soft flooring, in case anyone take a spill. Young or old, able-bodied or challenged, everyone can enjoy a stroll in the morning on the new wider sidewalks which meet ADA standards, such as grading and smooth finished. And when the call of nature strikes, everyone will enjoy the newly modified restrooms.

Federal Chairman Bernanke says that the real estate market is beginning to stabilize.
I say seize the day - the opportunities to buy Lake Havasu real estate at today's affordable prices will change.

Inman.com says the risk of a second depression are fading. Everything is getting back to normal.
I say seize the day - consumer confidence is up, buyers are returning to the market and the opportunity to take advantage of today's Lake Havasu real estate market place will be fading as well.

Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey says that applications for prime mortgages have increased for the first time since April 2007.
I say seize the day - take advantage of the opportunity to get the lowest interest rates in 40 years!

Lake Havasu is Getting Hot - Real Estate Sales Up Again

The weather is not the only thing getting hot in Lake Havasu City. So is the Lake Havasu real estate market! April saw a 40% increase of sales over those in April of 2008. In addition, there are about 320 homes that are reported under contract. Closed sales for 2009 are fast approaching the "500 homes sold" mark.

Sales activity began to change in Lake Havasu around October of last year. Since then, sales have consistently been on the upswing over sales activity in 2008. Every month this year has also seen an increase in sales over each prior month.

    * January 2009: 79 homes sold in Lake Havasu; a 29.5% increase from 2008, when only 61 homes sold.
    * February 2009: 93 homes sold in Lake Havasu; a 7% decline from 2008, when 100 homes sold.
    * March 2009: 137 homes sold in Lake Havasu; a 31.7% increase from 2008, when 104 homes sold.
    * April 2009: 140 homes sold in Lake Havasu; a 40% increase from 2008 , when 100 homes sold.

According to the Lake Havasu Association of Realtors database, there are 1004 residential properties available on the market in Lake Havasu City. This would indicate that the excess supply of homes is beginning to dwindle. Only 87 of those currently for sale are listed as foreclosed properties. There are approximately 265 homes under the median home prices of $153,050.

Inventory is decreasing. The foreclosure market is declining. Sales are up. Things are getting hot here in Havasu!

Resurfacing of Lake Havasu Streets Begins

Many of Lake Havasu's streets will be resurfaced in the next two weeks. In fact, over 10 miles of the city's streets will be resurfaced beginning next Tuesday (May 5th). If your street is scheduled for resurfacing, you should have already received an advance notice from the City. A second notice will be sent 24 hours before the resurfacing work begins on your street.

Resurfacing streets means delayed travel for all of us, so add a little extra time for any commutes you are planning in the next two weeks. There are over 425 miles of streets in Lake Havasu City, so planning an alternate route should not be too difficult if you are familiar with the city.

All of the streets being resurfaced will be open to traffic. Construction zones will be marked, so look for the signs. Slow down in construction zones, as some lanes may be closed and access may be restricted. Be on the lookout for the construction guys with flags. They will be assisting you in navigating our streets safely.

Resurfacing our streets may be a little annoying when traveling, but it keeps our long term traveling much safer and more pleasant. In addition, it keeps property values up. So, take a deep breath, slow down a little and enjoy the positive side of our street improvements.

Relay for Life in Lake Havasu

The Relay For Life walkathon will take place tonight at the Lee Barnes Stadium (Lake Havasu High School). Tonight's Relay For Life is in its 25th year nationwide and in its 5th year in Lake Havasu City.

Relay For Life is one man's vision, showing once again that the power of one can change the world for the better. The vision has gone global, with 18 countries participating in Relay For Life Events. Celebrating the vision here in Lake Havasu City will be 29 teams of over 433 walkers and runners that helps raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Relay For Life is a celebration of life for those who have fought the battle and won. It is a time of remembrance for those who did not. Relay For Life brings hope to those fighting and who will fight the dreaded disease by funds for cancer research. The Lake Havasu City Relay For Life teams have already raised more than $27,184 for the American Cancer Society.

Opening ceremonies for tonight's event will begin at 6:00 p.m. Cancer survivors will be walking the first lap of the walkathon (6:30pm). If you are a survivor, you are invited to join those on the track. After the first lap, the participating teams will be taking over the track to walk the night away. Everyone is invited to come and cheer them on. There will be various events held during the walkathon which include a Miss Relay contest (9:30), frozen T-shirt contest (10:30), a Cheese puff toss at midnight, a Find your Sole Mate game (2:00) and a Rooster Crow contest (5:00). You will especially want to attend the Luminaria ceremony at 8 p.m. This is a moving candlelight time for remembering those we have lost and supporting those who are fighting to survive.

The Relay For Life walkathon will conclude with an inspiring performance by the Lake Havasu High School Drum Line.

Casting Call in Lake Havasu

So, you want to be a movie star? Well, your opportunity is right here in Lake Havasu! You may not be the star in the movie (Piranha 3D), but more than one actor started their career in movies as an extra. If you are between 18 and 25 and look great in a bathing suit, then head on down to Good Faith Casting offices at the London Bridge Resort on Saturday, April 18th. Good Faith Casting has announced an open casting call for extras" to appear in the movie Piranha 3D. Speaking parts and non-speaking parts are available. Although the majority of extras will be the younger set, there are openings for a actors beyond the 25 year age group.

Casting director Faith Hibbs-Clark will be attending the April 18th interviews. It is not required but suggested that actors wear swimwear (girls, get your bikinis on and boys, wear your best swim trunks). The casting company will be taking photos, so don't bring your own. Polish up your acting skills with a focus on playing "drunk" for the partying scenes. You will also want to be able to die realistically, since this is a thriller movie. Be enthusiastic but not dramatic. This is a modern movie, not a silent film. How well an extra acts can take a movie to the top or cause it to fail.

The Screen Actors Guild pays a minimum of $759 a day. So, it is well worth your time to show off your acting skills. An added bonus for selected actors is the great food that will be catered morning, noon and night.

Havasu Half Marathon This Weekend

It will be an exciting time this weekend in Lake Havasu as the now famous Havasu Half Marathon will be taking place on Saturday, April 4th. The marathon has grown from a local event to become a regional event and Arizona's premier Western Arizona marathon run. Not only is the Havasu Half Marathon a premier event, but it is now an international one. Travelling all the way from Gateshead, England to participate in the marathon are Neale and Julie Brown.

1500 runners will be participating in the marathon aided by more than 100 volunteers. Runners will gather at the world renown London Bridge Beach Park, which overlooks beautiful Lake Havasu. Participants will begin running the course at 7:30 a.m. Spectators can cheer the runners at the London Bridge Park or along the route at designated locations.

The Havasu Half Marathon offers runners the choice of a 5K (3.12 miles) run or to go the distance, running the full 13.1 mile course. Half Marathon runners must complete the course within four hours. Runners will begin and finish the course from the London Bridge Beach Park. From the park, they will circle the island, enter onto London Bridge Road, running to Mesquite Bay. At Mesquite Bay, the runners will circle back to the finish line at London Bridge Beach Park.

Forty members of the Lake Havasu High School Boys Track & Field Team have volunteered to help monitor traffic during the event. You can bet they will be cheering for all the runners of the Havasu Hustlers Run Club. This awesome organization is donating their proceeds from the registration forms for the Havasu Half Marathon to the Lake Havasu High School Dream Track fund. The Havasu Hustlers have made a five year commitment to this cause.

The Kingman Regional Medical Center will be taking charge of the Runner Recovery Zone. The Runner Recovery Zone is a vital part of the race, allowing participants to recover and replenish after the grueling run.

Come out and cheer these brave souls on to their personal victories and treat yourself to the scenic beauty of Lake Havasu. Be careful if you are driving along the race route this weekend. I want you and all the runners to be safe (see note below).

Note from the Lake Havasu City Public Works Transportation Division:
Traffic control devices will be in place for the duration of the race, with two-way traffic being maintained along the majority of the race course. Beachcomber Boulevard will be limited to one-way traffic from Crazyhorse Campgrounds to Site 6 until the runners have completed this segment of roadway. London Bridge Road will be temporarily detoured between Industrial Boulevard and Lake Drive while runners complete this section of the race course.

As always, the public is requested to use caution and share the road when runners are present and to obey all traffic signs and traffic control devices when traveling in the area of the race course.

Going Green: The New Tax Credit

Saint Patrick's Day has just passed, Spring is just around the corner and April is on its way. These things put me in mind of the color green, which led to thinking green living, which then reminded me of the new tax credit available to homeowners in Lake Havasu.

Lake Havasu homeowners can tax advantage of a new tax credit which is a part of the stimulus program. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 changed and extended the tax credits for energy home improvements.

    *      The tax credit was increased from a $500 maximum to a $1,500 cap.
    *      The tax credit was extended to include the year 2010.
    *      The tax credit was increased from 10% to 30%.
    *      The tax credit of 30% now applies to items which previously had a specific dollar amount.

A tax credit is also available for improvements made in 2008, but what qualifies is more restrictive.  Only certain types of energy home improvements qualify for the tax credit. In some cases, the tax credit will cover installation costs. Windows, doors, roofs and water heaters are some of the energy improvements which qualify for the tax credit.

The Energy Star website features a Summary Of Tax Credits For Homeowners and other valuable information that you may find helpful.  Going green in real estate is the new trend. Homes with energy efficient features get more showings, sell faster and get a higher asking price, according to recent surveys.

A simple improvement of your Lake Havasu home may not seem like much of a stimulus to our economy. However, when you think about it, someone will need to do the improvement, which means somebody has a job. Even if you decide to do-it-yourself, you will buy your green improvement from a local business which creates demand. Demand creates jobs in manufacturing. Every little bit helps.

You can improve your Lake Havasu home for your own enjoyment while increasing its marketability and value. In addition, you are able to take advantage of the tax credit and be a part of the stimulus plan restoring economic stability to Lake Havasu and other parts of the nation.

Getting Off the Fence - Home Sales Up in Lake Havasu

Buyers seem to be getting off the fence and taking advantage of affordable home prices and low interest rates here in Lake Havasu City. The Lake Havasu Association of Realtors reported 105 sales in February, with another 153 sales pending escrow. It was also reported that the number of active listings in Lake Havasu has decreased. Foreclosures are still driving the market here in Lake Havasu as well as other parts of the nation. More foreclosure properties will be hitting the market and that trend will most likely continue for another year.

Many lenders placed a moratorium on foreclosure proceedings until the Obama administration announced its plan to help distressed homeowners. The Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan (HASP) was announced last week. The plan gave banks guidelines for loan modification and incentives to help at risk homeowners. Properties which were on hold and do not qualify under the HASP program will be hitting the markets nationwide in the next few months.

The delinquent rate nationwide is up, but the foreclosure rate for sub-prime loans has held steady for several months. The increase in delinquency rate seemed to be more economy driven rather than attributed to sub-prime loans. The sub-prime foreclosures have peaked and will continue to decrease. Until all of the sub-prime loans are sifted through, foreclosures will continue to drive the market. That trend is expected to continue for about another year. This would indicate that the end of the depressed housing market may be in site.

RealtyTimes.com reports there are several indicators showing the housing market improving on a national level, especially in the hard hit Riverside-San Bernardino, California area. While foreclosures will continue to impact home values, it is hoped that the slow down in the pace of foreclosures coming on the market will help stabilize property values. If this is the case, the Lake Havasu market may be bottoming out. Our current market is at its best in years for home buyers. The median price in Lake Havasu for a single-family residence is $149,900. Interest rates are hovering at the 5% level and the government is offering a tax credit* for first-time home buyers.

Getting off the fence and buying a home in 2009 looks to be a very smart idea.

January 2009 Housing Stats for Lake Havasu City

It's good news for Lake Havasu home buyers. Sales of single-family homes in Lake Havasu City in January 2009 were up over 25% from the same time last year (87 homes sold in January 2009 compared to 65 in January 2008). T he median price of a Lake Havasu home has decreased considerably from a year ago as well (from $283,980 to $196,279). The returning snowbirds looking for property have helped fuel the real estate fire and approximately 20% of the listings currently on the market are foreclosures (247 of 1339 homes). However, of the 247 foreclosures, 119 of them are currently pending escrow. This is good news for Lake Havasu homeowners looking to sell because it indicates that the glut of foreclosures in the market seems to be receding, creating a demand for traditional home sales. Once interest rates go up, prices of Lake Havasu real estate will go up as well. The Lake Havasu Association of Realtors believes that the drop in home prices may be hitting the bottom. With the median price of homes affordably low and interest rates hovering around the 5% range, now is definitely the time to purchase your Lake Havasu real estate. It's Time for Winterfest in Havasu

This weekend, as many as 40,000 people are expected to descend upon the Uptown Main Street district of Lake Havasu to view, sample and buy goods from over 260 vendors. Jewelry, custom clothing, body care products and home decor are just a few of the items that will be for sale Saturday, February 7th, and Sunday, February 8th. Kids will have the opportunity to ride ponies, play video games and laser tag, climb the rock wall, slide down a big inflatable slide and even play on the bungee trampoline in the "Thrill Zone". Of course, there will be food items for sale to tantalize your tastebuds that range from the traditional (hamburgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes) to the more exotic (curried goat). Lake Havasu will have its very own "Havasu Idol" contest, open to kids ages 5-18, on Saturday from 11am-1:30pm. A Buddy Holly tribute band, Comeback Buddy, will be performing on Sunday from 12:30-3:30pm. Scoops is sponsoring an ice cream eating contest on Sunday at 11am. The Bitter Creek Outlaws will be recreating Wild West gunfights all weekend long, with proceeds from their performances going to the American Heart Association. Visitors to Winterfest will also have the opportunity to win a $2500 grand prize in WinterCash by purchasing a $5 ticket (or 6 tickets for $25).
