Once You Publish, Google Has it Forever! - 08/31/11 07:20 PM
ActiveRain, I want to thank you for that. I received a comment from a post I did back in 2008 that was found and reviewed today. I saved a worms life. I helped to save a life today! Okay, a moth. I saved a life and I am tickled about it! I have to tell you this story!I wrote an ActiveRain post back in 2008 about a wonderful Huge Worm that crossed my porch. I didn't know what he was so I hustled over to google and checked him out. As it was, he was going to metamophisize into a beautiful … (15 comments)

Is Presentation Everything? - 08/29/11 10:06 PM
Well, no it's not but it does have a lot to do with getting you into a door. They say you have to open the door of opportunity if opportunity knocks.
Do you hear it knocking? If you do and you have not yet perfected your presentation in Real Estate, maybe now is the time to do it. How are you presenting yourself?
As a Listing Agent/Buyer's Agent? A Listing Agent only or a Buyer's Agent only? Those questions are up to you.
My question is: Are you presenting yourself properly and to the best of your ability? … (41 comments)

Shirley You Jest! - 08/26/11 12:06 AM
Shirley You Jest! Okay, so I opened my AR page today and I had a contact through ActiveRain from Shirley Knoblett Abraham, my long lost cousin.
Shirley wasn't really lost but we lost touch with each other about, well 40 years ago. Seems like yesterday. Shirley had gone to our Knoblett Tree on Google and found the Obituary I wrote and posted for my Mother, her Aunt. Now, Shirley found my name on the Obituary and Googled my name and guess what came up? Good ole' ActiveRain! And, Deb Brooks. Awww, the miracles of the Internet! Just a quick note to … (19 comments)

WHO AM I? - 08/24/11 11:29 PM
I stood with my arms extended and head laid back. His breath was cool to the touch yet he was coming with such anger. The boom of his voice and the darkness that set in was proof that he was on his way. He was on his way to revisit me. It has been a long time coming.
I asked him to come each and every day. Tears fell from the time he hid from me and the lives we have lost. I knew he was there but I couldn't seem to get through. I couldn't find him, I couldn't call him … (17 comments)

It only takes one... - 08/23/11 10:51 PM
It only takes one sale to make us feel fulfilled...maybe each week or month or whenever we are blessed with it...
It only takes one friend to acknowledge that you are appreciated each day to know why you are here...
It only takes one "thank you" to know you have been noticed...
It only takes one subscriber to know what you are writing is worth it...
It only takes one hug to know you are loved...
It only takes one positive thought to put your mind on the right track...

Water You Talking About? - 08/22/11 11:04 AM
We are now collecting our own water right from the air!
Returning home the other night we found the temperature at the house rising and rising....hum. Not a good thing. The A/C was definitely on the fritz. After a long and painful night tossing and turning our A/C man came to the rescue! It was over 100 degrees outside and almost that on the inside. Once the capacitor was replaced and the old system was shot with freon we sighed a sigh of relief. Our newfound friend, Joe also left us with a wonderful tidbit of advice that I want to … (15 comments)

Is Active Rain Magic? - 08/21/11 06:39 PM
To be a good writer, I think you have to know why you write. When I first discovered ActiveRain I had no clue what a blog was. My husband pushed me into jumping in due to his enthusiasm towards the prediction of the Blogging Boom! Since then, after so many attempts to find my voice in my words, I am still searching. I was drawn in to this place because with each post I would find myself on google and my personal site rose and rose and finally made it to the top. That One Special Thing You Do...Will help you to stand out in a crowd. Each and every day I look for a way to Pay It Forward in one way or another. Even if it is a matter of standing for a longer wait at a door to help an elderly person enter a building. I hope someone will do that for me one day.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling - 08/18/11 10:38 PM
Real Estate encompasses so many different professions within one circle of life.
Are you utilizing all your sources that make up the hub of your wheel? You are the Hub. Whatever you do. Since I'm a Realtor it's easier to use that as an example. As the hub of my wheel, I have worked with many spokes (folks) that keep me rolling. Now, when the rolling slows down, your wheel needs to gain momentum and pick up speed. How do we do that? Take a few minutes each and every day and contact one of your folks...spokes. As a Realtor, … (8 comments)

When The Lights Went Out In Kindergarten! - 08/17/11 07:10 PM
Kindergarten. This is the time Charles Buell has asked us to write about. I was very lucky to have a wonderful and stable early childhood. This is probably why I am still quasi-sane today. Now, this statement is not open for debate. Sorry.
"The Secret to Youth is Arrested Development"....author unknown. I can close my eyes and think back. Be Careful What You Say In Real Estate! - 08/14/11 09:04 AM
I am sure we all have a few strange stories in Real Estate to tell. How could we not? Some are good stories, some are not so good and others are just strange. That is exactly this story. Once upon a time, my husband and I were contacted by a gentleman that was checking himself into a nursing home and was ready to list his house for sale. We were very happy to help him sell his home for as much money as we possibly could. The little house was located off the main drag of Trinity, Texas and could possibly … (99 comments)

GOOD NEWS! "Painting With a Twist" in The Woodlands Texas! - 08/13/11 05:10 PM

How many of you have at some time wanted to dabble in painting? I knew from the time of my finger painting there was something to love about smearing wet paint on a canvass and turning it into a picture.

"I'm sorry but I just can't list your home"....yes, I actually said that today. The words stuck in my throat as I choked them out of my mouth but I had to say it.
What a lovely home he has and believe me I wanted to list it but not at that price.
My eyes strayed to the corner of the room as I explained that after I had not sold his home in several months he would be mad at me and the price on the home would have sent all potential buyers running the other way. Okay, I didn't … (19 comments)

Real Estate Recovery...Must See 'Um Museums! - 08/08/11 05:21 PM
How would a tour of good Museums help in the Real Estate Recovery? Actually, for more reasons than you think. As our economy becomes tighter and tighter we still must retain the Vacation Money for mortgages, groceries and gas. Visiting your local Museums will give you a chance for a bonding experience with the children close to home. Would your children rather take a long road trip and stop at fancy restaurants or would they prefer to just "be together with you?" Yada, Yada, Blah, Blah, Blah, "CLICK" - 08/08/11 03:12 PM
The other day I was running a bit late for an appointment and trying hard to get out of the house. My cell phone rings. I answer as I always try to do. On the other end of the phone was a canned call coming from a Cold Caller working for Bing, yes Bing! The young man begins with, "yada, yada, yada, search engine placement, yada, yada, yada and I then very courteously stopped him and said, "Cory, I really would be interested in what you have to offer if you could call me another time." Due to the lag in Lending and now the Guise of Qualification of Clients, Contingencies are more and more difficult to close. Not long ago when a client received an Approval Letter we all felt comfortable that they were going to be able to purchase the home. Not anymore! At this point an Approval Letter is no more than a promise to try! We just lost yet another sale to a failed loan from an Approved Buyer from New Mexico. It was just so beautiful looming over the trees and just looked surreal. I am thinking about a telescope purchase after looking at this photo.
