Shirley You Jest! Okay, so I opened my AR page today and I had a contact through ActiveRain from Shirley Knoblett Abraham, my long lost cousin.
Shirley wasn't really lost but we lost touch with each other about, well 40 years ago. Seems like yesterday. Shirley had gone to our Knoblett Tree on Google and found the Obituary I wrote and posted for my Mother, her Aunt. Recently a cousin of mine assisted his son in the purchase of his first Townhome. Ross, the young man that made the purchase is a recent graduate of Rose-Hulman, Institute of Technology, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, located in Terre Haute, Indiana, is one of the nation's top undergraduate engineering, science and mathematics Institute, an exclusive University in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Ross graduated with honors and is now beginning his Medical School agenda.

The wildflowers give hope...
They are blowing in the wind and dropping the seed of the future. They provide beauty and substance to our landscapes and are the sign of spring and a new beginning. Our wildflowers are an inspiration that we should follow. They are a constant and show us that even adversity, lack of nourishment and storms cannot stop them from blooming and becoming the best they can be. They give us strength, hope and a promise of more to come.
Let's have the outlook of the flowers. Be strong, positive, a fighter and guarantee that you will survive!

you didn't have to work?
What if...........
you had all the money you needed or wanted?
what if...........
you didn't have to worry about paying your bills?...
would you still be working Real Estate? Do you love it? Do you love the people? Do you love the satisfaction of helping a person find their home?
If you can honestly answer these questions with..."I would want to sell Real Estate....", you are in the right business my friends...ask yourself this. If the answer is no, then go look for another job or profession.

There is no way to dispute that we actually "love" with passion and feelings and commitment and devotedness and need and desire and comfort and "being" the very structure we call........our homes.
Yes, we love our homes.
Why not?
We have a structure that reveals our personalities and preferences...
It's a place to rest and feel comfort and security. A place to run naked if we choose. It's our place to close our eyes and re~build for another day.

I'm so glad I have my Active Rain friends and co-workers surrounding me. These times they are a hurtin'. I believe that a rose displays as much beauty on a cloudy day as it does on a sunny day. It is all in how you look at the rose. Of course, there's the famous saying, "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" and Shakespeare knew his writing. That's about all he knew but hey...we are not all good at everything.

I try to do my Civil Duty for my state and country and today I did show up for Jury Duty. I have mistakenly "overlooked" summons before and I then felt guilty. Today, Saint Patrick's Day, I succumbed to being sequestered. Yep, I was there.
I learned early in my life that all I have to do is to walk into a court room and I am immediately chosen to serve on the jury. This, I assure you, is not a beneficial trait of a person. I just am a "what do you think? magnet..." yep. People stop me in the … (21 comments)

I love Lucy, butt...My cousin Nancy and I were walking the authentic brick streets of Newport Indiana when she was 12 years old and I was three years younger. I was much more 10 than 9. I was very grown up.
Newport Indiana had (and still does have) a population of approximately 400. Believe it or not it was the county seat. This was our city. We walked the tree lined brick laid and cobblestone streets enjoying the blue sky's and the lack of any traffic. I am a lucky person. I have actually existed in a town with no-one. The search is on for a man that visited a client of mine that claimed to be from the Lending institution that is currently placing her homestead into foreclosure. We will call my client Ruby as I must change the names to protect the innocent! I got a new iPhone for Christmas. It's February 19th now and I'm beginning to figure it out. Evidently there is a commercial on TV that calls random calling of friends and family "BUTT CALLS" based on a person sitting on their phone and making the random calls.
I have been told over the last few days that I am guilty of this obscene gesture...
The one thing I just couldn't do is figure out how to re-lock my iPhone so I wouldn't be touching random phone numbers for calling.

Bob Stewart, our very own Social Media Guru, Community Builder and Creative Mind Extraordinaire,suggested to me that I try FIREFOX, a Mozilla browser, instead of my Internet Explorer. Hum...I smiled and said I would but subconsciously my head was shaking back and forth while crossing my arms. Nope, huh uh, no way, not a chance, not me.
I'm a tough egg to crack. From the beginning of time I have been a die-hard Internet Explorer fan. In my mind and my world it ran my entire puter!

I was 22 years old and working for a large carpeting store in San Antonio Texas behind the desk as a receptionist...not my kind of job but I was young and needed to take what I could get.
I was raising two very young children and paying an in-home sitter to watch them. After cashing my weekly check and paying her I had $80.00 a week left for bills and spending money.

I feel like I'm getting geekier and geekier each day and loving it. I have recently joined the ranks of TWITTER and am a novice with how it all works. So for me, this was valuable listening.
It was so much fun hearing my friends voices again such as Rich Jacobson, Brad Andersohn, Ron Chaney, Jeremy Blanton, Kim Wood and a various assortment of Active Rainer guests. Woohaa.

The tide has changed...and I mean drastically! Sales use to wash in and close and then wash out back to the sea of contentedness...and now what's happening?
Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac are just not the same entities...they are now the boss.
We, as in Real Estate Agents and Brokers and Mortgage Brokers and Surveyor's and Inspectors and Title Companies are all trying to march to a different beat.

I had a ball at Real Estate barcamp Houston yesterday!
Some functions are fun and some are not! This was just wonderful! I didn't completely understand what to expect with a "Free form forum" but I will say it was great. The presentations were fun and informative.
I was able to meet so many Rainers that I felt I was home.
Is that strange? After getting to know so many people through comments, following their lives and seeing their pictures each day I felt like it was a homecoming!

Quickie laugh. I was just visiting with Marchel Peterson of Spring Texas. Marchy and I have been able to network and make money TOGETHER with the help of Active Rain.
