localism: One Word Says it All~LOCALISM, and Tips Too - 06/21/11 11:40 AM
One word says it all. LOCALISM...Whether you are a Newbie or Oldie here in the Rain you must learn the value of Local and Hyper-Local posts. I have discovered over the years, 4 to be exact, that there is no better way to hit GOOGLE and their "happy spot" and we can thank Active Rain for the strategic placement.
My past Localism posts have been geared for Local postings instead of Hyper-Local.
What does this mean?
A Local Post is Keyword Optimized for an "AREA" instead of a particular neighborhood. Living in the Piney Woods of Texas (currently fighting a violent … (75 comments)

localism: RIVERSIDE TEXAS FIRE DEPARTMENT...MY HEROES! - 03/25/09 05:45 AM
OMG, MY CAT WAS IN A TREE AND CHIVALRY IS NOT DEAD. Here I am. It's almost 1:00 am on what is now Wednesday, March 25, 2009. It's been a long night. About three hours ago I was in a panic. A life or death panic. It was 10:30 pm and I found Desi, my long loved 11 year old cat about 45 feet in the air and stuck in an Oak tree.
Yes, I had noticed he was no where for a few hours and began to call for him and worry about him. Off in the distance I heard this … (16 comments)

localism: Open your intuition and "radar" to your client's needs. - 10/26/08 07:16 AM

Real Estate is not only a Profession ... it is our lives.
Our business is an integral part of everyone's lives. Not just because we sell Real Estate but because it just is.
We all must be housed.

Mama bird builds her nest for protection and comfort.

The lioness finds her security within rock and caves and even ants build magnificent cities.

One thing for sure ... we will always need to buy and sell houses, excuse me, homes.
Our Profession goes much deeper within others lives than … (13 comments)

localism: Acquire High Dollar Internet Property With Active Rain! - 09/23/08 04:58 AM
Internet (Cyberspace) property is judged by the same criteria as the Real Estate we sell daily.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.
Where do you want your Internet Real Estate? At the top of Google of course. In some markets the competition is so fierce that you may feel your site is NEVER going to make it there. This Internet positioning is reserved for the cream of the crop and the sites that please Google the most.
When Google places your site within their Search Engine they base the "winning" criteria on many different "formulas or algorythems" and we all just guess at what they … (8 comments)

localism: More Drama? Not my choice...Y---Ike. - 09/11/08 02:07 PM
Okay, I am reporting in. I'm scared. My hubby hates it when I say that. I guess it's because I've shown a sign of weakness.
We have been told by the State of Texas that we must have our cats under surveilance and in isolation for the next 65 days. For more information read my post titles, Drats, Cats, and bats.
1. Two cats had run out of their 3 year rabies certificate two weeks before a rabid bat showed up on our front porch. Therefore, by the state they must be isolated for 90 days.
2. We probably should have … (47 comments)

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - Makeover to Takeover?
Well it finally happened.
After losing 16 billion dollars in the past year Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were evidently going belly up. Somehow the fact that our President Bush seems to think it's temporary...I doubt it.
Here we go. Being run by a government entity we are in for the ride of our Real Estate careers.
Socialistic societies have never been the American Dream.
Quote: Bush said in a statement released Sunday afternoon. "Americans should be confident that the actions taken today will strengthen our ability to weather the housing correction … (25 comments)

localism: The Wealth of Points - 09/06/08 07:39 PM
Localism.
It is new and shiny and ready to go. Are you ready? I am. I like the look and I think I will post more than ever! The idea of being the "neighborhood specialist" is really appealing! Although, I work a lake of more than 50 active waterfront subdivisions I will enjoy the new Localism and take full advantage of the source!
Imagine if we could "get to know our neighbors" over the net just as we learn about each other over AR and other sources? From what I heard the old Localism had thousands of hits per month. I … (68 comments)

localism: Wake Up On Lake Livingston...New Take On Localism Part II - 07/04/08 08:00 AM
You pour your coffee, step out on the back deck and sit under the shade of your Oak tree. You begin thinking back to the first day you learned of the treasures of Lake Livingston, Texas.  It really was like a treasure hunt without the hope of finding the treasure...but low and behold, here you are. "How did I get so lucky, you think to yourself?" Oh, sure. Just happenstance. "I remember now."My honey and I were driving back home to Houston from our weekend trip. We had decided to take the back roads instead of I-45. We hoped the views … (11 comments)

localism: LOCALISM FEATURED: Wake Up On Lake Livingston...New Take On Localism...Part I - 06/30/08 02:59 PM
A glimpse of your day at  Lake Livingston begins here.
You awake inside your gorgeous 3 bedroom, 2 bath waterfront home and sit up in your bed and a beautiful dawn awaits you. You stretch and smile as the colors fill your room with energy and hope. You look at your partner sleeping soundly and decide to let them sleep and that to be alone is fine for now. You wipe the sleep from your eyes while watching the sun make its appearance with a wonderful yellow glow. You watch the blue waters lap upon your shore and you see … (36 comments)

localism: Do Properties Have Kharma or Dharma? - 06/09/08 04:15 PM
Okay, I don't really know what these things are but I do have a slight understanding. I believe that Kharma is the bad stuff and Dharma is the good stuff. Stuff meaning luck or a power of attraction. So if you go putting out bad vibes to the world, the world sends you back bad stuff called Kharma. If you send out the good vibes then the world sends you Dharma.
(I'm not talking about Dharma and Greg although I just figured out why that was her name)
So, I have a property that has been on the market for nine … (42 comments)

localism: Establish a Niche Market...Stay on Top! - 06/03/08 03:02 AM

A good definition of a Niche Market is a Market In Which You Specialize. So many agents seem to be available for anyone at about any time. After viewing the video snip from Brian Block (that is hillarious so click to view), I really began thinking about our diverse markets. Brian uses dialogue that is really too close to home for a few agents...Brian said, "I don't know much about your area or your floorplan and your house is a mess but I really want you to list with me.."
This may come across as funny but how many of you … (86 comments)

localism: ACTIVE RAIN FRIENDSHIPS ARE BLOOMING LIKE WILDFLOWERS! - 04/22/08 11:02 AM

The Texas Real Estate Group was recently adopted by Marchel Peterson of Spring, Texas and Liz Carter of Katy/Houston. The group is now blooming like Texas Wildflowers! We are turning into a "Community" in the true sense of the word. Our first meeting in Bandera, Texas was recent and we had a wonderful time. We met, talked AR, ate, ate, and ate.
My husband, Scott Brooks and I turned a 5 1/2 hour drive into an 8 hour drive home because of all the gorgeous wildflowers! I would point, say ooh, awe, and off the road he would go! I am pleased to share … (54 comments)

localism: I want to buy waterfront land! What do I need to know? - 03/27/08 02:25 PM
Our market, next to the water, is still in great demand. Lake Livingston Real Estate and Waterfront land is getting so difficult to find. I am finding that Lake Livingston Properties, as well as many various large waterfront communities are experiencing the very same phenomenon. At this point, it is almost as economical to purchase the land with an existing structure as it is to purchase unimproved land. The land values have multiplied in worth to the consumer to the point of near exorbitance. What does this mean to the landowners' future of equity?
Herein lies the problem. Land value is affected … (5 comments)

localism: Texas Tidbits...To make you smile! :-) - 11/17/07 02:50 PM
Localism Colloquialisms-Huh?
JUST FOR FUN!!
Click for the definition of colloquialism. I just never get enough of the Texas slang! Slang that is used locally can also be called an idiom. It becomes almost its own language. I know I've missed a passel of 'um so if you would contribute I would appreciate it! Add to the Texas sayings but let's start a collection of other states and areas! I have attempted to place my own opinion of the definition of these sayings. They may mean something else for someone else.
                   Here's to you, Texas!
