There were many people really upset last week when the home buyer tax credit wasn't extended for the "close date" for those under contract by April 30th.
I wasn't one of them.
I find it appalling that congress continually lumps multiple bills together and think it's wrong.
So tonight when the Senate passed the bill that is only about the 3 month extension of the tax credit I'm wondering if they are finally getting the message.
I'm amazed and quite happy that this legislation passed without something being lumped in with it.

In the summer around central Georgia we often on hot afternoons have sudden Thundershowers.  Today was one of those days.  The temps dropped quickly from the mid 90s down tot he high 70s and now an hour later the sun is out and you can't even tell it rained earlier.  I thought I'd share a bit of the rain and Thunder from the back porch at my office as I took my usual afternoon coffee break this afternoon.  I did have to move my chair away from the screen just a bit and it got quite windy and the rain … (13 comments)

In a recent storm this tree frog came flying through the air and landed on my patio door with a thud.  My puppies wanted to get at him, but he was quite protected through the glass.
It was a rare chance for me to get to see the underside of a frog.  So I snapped a photo to remember.  You see, I don't touch frogs.  Yes, I'm a country girl who doesn't touch frogs and lizards.

Well today is the first day of the rest of my life... my new life, one mixed with mommie pride and fear of what may come.  Today, it's official, she passed her written exam last week and today the physical/practical part of the test and now my baby girl, Abigail, is a firefighter. 
She's also still currently in EMT school, she's also still enrolled working on her batchlors in health and wellness (expecting to graduate at UGA next spring) and then hopefully moving on to getting her master's in nursing.  It's taken her a while to figure out what direction … (24 comments)

With no clear definition in this bill about what parts of the Internet might be "Critical Infrastructure" I personally find it of concern that the Senate passed the bill as is, saying that the administration can have an "Internet Kill Switch" for websites.  While I agree that some obvious users who say were "hacked into the CIA or the pentagon" perhaps putting national security at risk could be shut down, I think the bill as passed by the Senate makes it possible that freedoms and liberties of free speech may be in jeopardy.

First of all, I am a non typical woman.  For those of you who LOVE to shop... I just don't understand it.  I hate to shop.  I hate to go to the store period.  I usually am in and out for the item(s) I need with no wasted time "looking" at things I'm NOT going to buy.

It's hot!  Really hot and the humidity is around 47% making the heat index even hotter.
In this type of weather it's important to:
Drink plenty of fluids (avoiding alcohol, sugary drinks and caffeine because they speed up fluid loss) Do yard work in the early morning hours or late evening hours Wear loose fitting light colored cotton clothing Wear a vented brimmed hat or use an umbrella Stay indoors (great time to take in an afternoon movie) DO NOT leave anyone (pets included) in a parked car

Lake Sinclair- Freedom Fest '10 Fireworks, Entertainment and a Great Cause! - 06/10/10 04:45 PM
For years my husband and I have attended the wonderful 4th of July fireworks at Crooked Creek Marina.  This year is going to be better than ever.
FREEDOM FEST '10
All Donations should be made out to:  Camp Kudzu which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit (yes, tax decuctible)
They are also still looking for volunteers for just 4 hours each and you get a t-shirt and free meal for those 4 hours and it's such a great cause.  More information can be found at LakeCountryFreedomFestival.

Saturday was the local Dairy Festival in Putnam County.  It was HOT!  My daughter and I were late getting there, missed the parade this year, but wandered around the square stopping to talk with folks we just see once in a while.  We also shared our annual "blooming onion" and if you haven't had a deep fried onion...  you need to try it at least once.
I petted this cow as she was being loaded up to head back to the farm.  And she licked me.  Felt a bit like a cat tongue x10.  Abigail didn't pet her, she was scared.  … (25 comments)

Dairy Festival - Eatonton- Putnam County 2010 - 06/04/10 12:51 PM
It's that time of year again.  It's always the 1st Saturday in June in downtown Eatonton on the court house square. 
The Pilot Club currently hosts the Dairy Festival and this is the 51st annual Dairy Festival.  The Pilot Club of Eatonton has this as their annual fund raiser.  They host most of the events with the exception of the road races which the Farmers and Merchants Bank hosts. 
There's s the 1 mile fun run and the 10K Torture Trail starting at 8:00 a.m.

Don't you just hate when you have to call customer service?  I had to call AT&T about my home Internet DSL.  By the time I finally got a human I was really angry.  I tried to laugh it off and not take my anger out on the poor girl who happened to pick up my call.  But when you are sitting there on hold listening to them tell you how much easier it would be for you to "go to www.att.com/support" to figure out your problem than it would be to wait on hold for 20 minutes just to have to … (18 comments)
