Santa Claus is coming to town... to Eatonton, Georgia - 11/29/10 11:49 PM

December 4th it will be Christmas in the Briar Patch.  The parade will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by Santa himself lighting the Christmas Tree.
You can find craft vendors on the court house square and many of the stores will be open late with some very good specials. And all the children can have their photos taken with Santa.  There will even be live entertainment.
So pack up the children and head downtown Eaonton Saturday afternoon.  I heard there will hot chocolate, and hopefully the weather will cooperate.  And if you're there I hope to see you.  If you … (19 comments)

Thanksgiving.... giving thanks - 11/25/10 05:02 PM
I finally have a few minutes of quiet time with my house.  I just took the dogs for a walk, it's actually hot outside.  I really don't want to turn on the Air Conditioner the last week in November, but I have to admit it's a bit tempting.  Of course the "cold front" I saw on the news just a day or so west of me is stopping I'me.  I'll be wishing it was 76 degrees on Saturday when I'm cold again.
I stopped on my way home and bought myself some flowers at Kroger.  I have the crust for tomorrow's … (19 comments)

Paying it forward- because of Thanksgiving 1992 - 11/24/10 11:32 PM
Thanksgiving is a very emotional time for me.  On November 22nd every year I always hear "where were you when Kennedy was shot?"  Well I know my history, and I realize that was such a tragic event in America's history but it's not one that I personally experienced.  But in 1992 on November 22nd I had my own personal tragic event.  At 4:32 p.m. the clock stopped in my house.  I wasn't hope when it occurred, I was on my way home.  I saw through the windshield the tornado touch down and pass in the area I thought to be quite … (19 comments)

Paying it forward... because I've had only $56 or less in my checking account too. - 11/21/10 05:21 PM
Last night I took my daughter out to dinner.  We ate a local Japanese Steak House (Little Tokyo) that we both love.  The bill with tip included was around $75.00.  But our fillet and shrimp were really good.  And we both brought home left-overs that will make for dinner another night.  We took separate cars because we each needed to run a few errands.
I headed to super WalMart and she went her own way.  I'm not the most patient person and recently in that same store I had unloaded my items onto the conveyor belt when the clerk asked me … (39 comments)

Thank you God, for our "clear to close" - 11/19/10 04:17 PM
Where have I been?  Did anyone miss me posting?
I've been working hard to get the news I got today.  Yes, of course it's that short sale I've been working on.  The one that the bank gave us a foreclosure get out of jail free card on.  That card was only good for November.  And it wasn't looking good for the home team or the home buyer.
Lender told us early last week we'd need flood insurance.  We started working on getting quotes.  The numbers were mind blowing.  Then one little hometown independent company came in with a very reasonable quote.  … (13 comments)

Paying it forward... with what will fit in a shoe box. - 11/13/10 11:17 PM
Operation Christmas Child is a charity that my church participates in annually.  Tomorrow is "turn in" day for this year.  So today I didn't work.  I shopped.  I went and purchased my "shoe boxes" because I think a rubbermade box is nicer and might be useful so I buy one of those.
I always do two boxes, one for a little boy and one for a little girl.  You get to choose age ranges and I always choose the 5 to 7, because that's the age range of my Sunday School chidren so I feel more like I'll know what they like.  … (19 comments)

Gratitude on 11/11 - 11/11/10 11:38 PM
Before I begin, let me preface what I am about to say with, I'm very grateful for every man and woman who ever sacrificed and served.  The list in my very own family is many cousins, two uncles, my husband, my father-in-law, my brother in-law and many ancestors I don't even know... and my father.... this post is about November 11th and my father.
In the summer of 1999 and I don't remember the day, funny thing is I could look it up.  I got a ticket from my county code enforcement officer that day.  When she walked in my door … (23 comments)

When does time change? - 11/05/10 04:29 PM
I'm going to have to have a serious chat with the puppies in my house.  I want them all to fully understand the glorious extra hour of sleep we are ALL allowed on Saturday night.  That's right, fall back, and change your clocks back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.
And while you are at it, please remember to also change your batteries in your smoke detectors.  Also in a carbon monoxide detector too.  More home fires happen in winter months than in summer months.  Make sure you have a fire safety plan for your family.  Once you do, … (12 comments)

Paying it forward... a little dog needed a helping hand. - 11/05/10 08:18 AM
Today when I was driving home there was a car on my tail (you know one of those follows too close impatient drivers) and a little tiny dog ran out in front of my car.  I stopped my car, I tooted the horn and the little dog just stood there in the road wagging his tail.  The car behind me tooted her horn, but not at the dog.  So I just left my car right there in the street, put it park, opened the door, got out and picked up the puppy and carried it up the driveway to the porch … (29 comments)

Short Sales- you can't get experience without doing them... - 11/01/10 04:41 PM
It wasn't that I was "avoiding" short sales, I wasn't.  But I don't have a ton of experience with them.  Likely it's because I've not had sellers in a position to be approved.  When it's a "vacation" home that you can afford that's lost value it's not likely the bank will agree to a short sale.  So while I've seen a couple of my would be sellers talk to their bank and choose to just walk away from their vacation home and mortgage and let it go into foreclosure, I've not had many short sale listings.
And that being said, nor … (19 comments)
