veterans day: Have you thanked a Veteran today? - 11/11/11 01:46 PM
When I wrote Happy Veterans Day Daddy, I love you,  3 years ago today I didn't tell you that 12 years ago today I was sitting in a hospital and my Daddy who had surgery to remove the cancerous tumor.  I am so fortunate to always celebrate my Daddy's "life" day on Veterans Day.  12 years and counting and I still have my Daddy.
By the way (that post was my first feature)  Didn't get many comments, but got one from Bob Stewart and that has always meant a lot to me.
Then two years ago my Veterans Day post was about … (9 comments)

veterans day: Gratitude on 11/11 - 11/11/10 11:38 PM
Before I begin, let me preface what I am about to say with, I'm very grateful for every man and woman who ever sacrificed and served.  The list in my very own family is many cousins, two uncles, my husband, my father-in-law, my brother in-law and many ancestors I don't even know... and my father.... this post is about November 11th and my father.
In the summer of 1999 and I don't remember the day, funny thing is I could look it up.  I got a ticket from my county code enforcement officer that day.  When she walked in my door … (23 comments)

veterans day: My American Soldier, my hero, my Donald! - 11/11/09 12:45 PM
My husband is my hero!  He served our country in the U.S. Army for 12 years.  He grew up being one of those "military brats", he was born in Virginia, spent time in Japan and ended up in San Diego as a teenager.
His father walked out of his life when Donald was just 14 years old.  For the past 30 years my husband has not seen nor heard from his father, yet he is the best daddy ever to MY daughter, Abigail.
Donald and I met just over 11 years ago.  I was on line in a chat room talking … (13 comments)

veterans day: A real American HERO! - 11/09/09 04:31 PM
Today I had the pleasure of speaking to a true American Hero on the phone.  His name is Robert (Bob) Paschal and he is an American Soldier.  Of course at 79 he's retired.   He served 5 tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam and served in the Air Force for 22 years. But his work on behalf of soldiers continues.
He says the Lord lead him to do this work.  Today 5 purple heart veterans arrived in Crawford County Georgia.  They are all in wheelchairs.  Tomorrow they are going hunting thanks to Bob.  That's right, hunting.  The Crawford County Lion's Club, … (7 comments)

veterans day: Happy Veteran's Day Daddy, I love you! - 11/11/08 01:38 PM
My Daddy is my Hero.  Today is veterans day and for more reasons that one, it makes me think about my daddy.  My dad was in the Navy.  He joined right after high school and for the next 4 years while my mom finished high school and went to college for two years they had a long distance romance.  Sometimes across most of the world. Nine years ago we had a scare with my daddy having cancer.  In fact, his surgery was 11/11/99.  9 years ago today.  My dad was born in 1940 to a farmer and raised on a family … (24 comments)
