With the great success of The Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival, it looks like the festival will become an annual event. Hangout owner Shaul Zislin paid for the festival’s multimillion-dollar bill, and it appears to be likely he will do it again next year. 
 
It has been estimated that about 40,000 people attended the festival.

News of the catastrophic explosion that caused an oil spill from a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico has been a hot topic in the Orange Beach/ Gulf Shore area this week. 
Fears are high the oil will reach the shoreline.  The leak is currently releasing 5,000 barrels of oil per day. This oil spill is looking like it may be the worst oil spill in history, even more so than the Exxon Valdez tanker that spilled 11 million gallons of oil into Prince William Sound in 1989. Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is home to more than 290 animals that have many tall tales to tell us all.  The majority of the residents of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo were either rescued from the possibility of extinction or they have completed a long journey from an exotic locale and now call the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo home.
During Hurricanes Ivan, Dennis, and Katrina, all animal residents needed to be evacuated from the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.  This was never done by a zoo before in the United States.
