realtors: Where Do Real Estate Professionals Rate on the IQ Scale? - 02/22/08 12:53 AM
In any profession there will be a graph of those participants with the highest and lowest IQs. Contrary to popular belief this graph is not a Bell Curve. In fact it follows more in line with the 80-20 Rule. In considering this and studying the participants in the industry, it was noted that there are several sectors of the real estate profession that must be considered, each having a similar yet slightly different dynamic.
We do know that the top 1-5% in any industry has to be pretty sharp just to stay on top. We also know that the movers and … (3 comments)

realtors: HELP - My ActiveRain Invites Are Bouncing at a Rate of 50% - They Quit The Business! - 01/17/08 04:20 PM
Well, today I spent an hour or two going thru business cards that I had collected over the last two-years. You see, I have been traveling the US for about 6-years in a large Motor Coach and I meet many new people each day from where ever I am. Generally, I tour museums, go to state parks, meet local towns people, go to book stores or just hang out, sometimes at the city's main attractions, local restaurants and/or coffee shops. Yes, I have been told I have a tough life, but someone has to do it!
No, I don't travel all the … (29 comments)

realtors: Dayton OH is a Great American City - 01/07/08 07:07 AM
Dayton OH sure has a lot going for it. Everyone likes the Big Air Show and Aviation Conference. Wow, what a show. If you are an aviation buff you should not miss it. In fact our Commander in Chief also visited there for the Air Show event signifying the Wright Bros. Makes me feel comfortable that everyone is Pro-Dayton and that means jobs and a strong economic future too.
Ohio is getting some juice politically and in the last election it proved to be the final battleground, many knew it would. Ohio has always been big in politics. It is also good … (3 comments)

realtors: 2008 Blog Behavior Case Study; Compliments Create Courteous Conversation - 01/07/08 06:13 AM
Increasing every day is the number of Blogs and Forums on the Internet and there is no end in site to this hyperbolic pace. With India and China coming on line with some 2.4 Billion combined potential Internet Users in the future it should be obvious that these formats will become a mainstay in human electronic communication and continually evolve as new systems, innovations and spin-off systems for social networks hit the scene.
Of course in all this there will still be the human element and common sense truths about humans and their somewhat predictable behavior. For instance a human disrespected wants … (2 comments)

realtors: Are Realtors Inherently Good or Evil? - the Secret Revealed - 01/04/08 05:55 AM
Some folks have a pretty dim view of our real estate professionals and attempt to categorize them with used car salesmen, stock brokers or lawyers and similar professional parasites - but I ask is this really a fair assessment?
Many Famous Western Philosophers have attempted to argue the point and spent much of their life pondering the question is man inherently good or evil? Both, Kant and Eichmann have writings the size of books on this very subject.
Would it be too bold of me to hyperspace such hours of thought into a single comment on the banality of evil in … (59 comments)

realtors: Borrowers and Consumers are Terrible People and To Blame for the Current Housing Market - 01/02/08 10:07 PM
Lets see, who can we blame, its time to kick some one off the island and we must light that flame. The chaos and controversy surrounding it all, is nothing more than sound and fury raging in the Congress' hall. The bubble has burst and the empty rubber did fall, surprisingly there are still some professional Realtors who are standing tall.
Its the consumer's fault, they're to blame, they took out the note, and signed their name. So, the economy is in the tank and we have the homeowners to thank, for eyes bigger than their stomach, while visiting the bank. No … (5 comments)

realtors: Should Lie Detector Tests be Mandatory to All Real Estate Professionals? - 01/02/08 06:39 PM
Well this subprime problem to the economy is akin to the climate cliff of the Doom and Gloom Global Warming Alarmists. There are many factors involved here, even some overseas providing huge amounts of capital to financial markets for home loans. Everyone is busy blaming everyone else and the lawyers are having a hay day dragging everyone into court. As if errors and omissions insurance is not high enough in other industries, its about to skyrocket again.
So, who is to blame for all this subprime lending? The Realtors proclaim their innocence from the highest mountains in all the lands, with seven … (22 comments)

realtors: How Much Should Realtors Be Fined for Their Part in the Subprime Lending Crash? - 01/02/08 05:42 PM
Recently, a Think Tank began discussing the lack of Integrity in the Real Estate Industry and what percentage of blame was deserved where. Most Realtors blame the mortgage industry; the brokers, companies and the abundance of bad loans on properties during an unsustainable and irrational exuberance rise in home prices. Sure, that makes sense, everyone wishes to shift responsibility and it is hard to deny that the mortgage industry made some huge errors in judgment for some quick short-term gain.
Nevertheless, let us look at the Realtors and their part in all of this. Realtors either knew or should have known that … (68 comments)

realtors: Tip for Realtors to Help Improve Business - Take a Drive Thru Rain Activity! - 01/02/08 06:42 AM
Many Realtors claim that they have done everything right to help market themselves and their business, but still each day they drive up to the office in a dirty car, with mud on the side and papers, wrappers and debris inside. Lord help them if a client shows up or a buyer wants to see one of their listings, a buyer who is real, not some Looky Lou, wanting to take a tour of the city on the Realtors dime. These Realtors have an abundance of excuses as to why they did not clean their car.
Some complain the car wash takes … (12 comments)

realtors: Clean Up Your Real Estate Office Exterior - A Disgusting Image Detracts from Your Professionalism - 12/27/07 07:30 PM
How often have you walked up to a real estate office and found chewing gum on the sidewalk, spilled chocolate fudge bar remnants or black marks from bicycle tires or skateboarders? I did a quick survey the other day when I went cruising over the hill to the next city and drove by all the real estate offices, 50% looked like that, I took some pictures and then thought the better of posting them here.
No need to give negative PR to real estate companies in this market, and yet, look what they are saying about themselves and think what this says … (1 comments)

realtors: Advertising is Serious Business and a Crappy Set of Ads Can Kill a Real Estate Company's Image - 12/27/07 04:55 AM
Some folks in real estate say that all news is good news and therefore you would assume that these same folks think that all advertising even crappy advertising is better than no advertising. Well those are both mistakes when it comes to building brands, communicating with customers or driving targeted sales to your company.
You see, crappy advertising hurts your business and it can even kill many years of hard fought brand name. Just because a real estate agent has a broker doing lots of advertising does not mean that it is necessarily helping.
So how can crappy advertising kill your real … (0 comments)

realtors: Active Rain and Other Industry Social Networking Websites Might Be Self-Sabotaging Their Systems - 12/26/07 01:05 AM
There is a pretty popular Industry Blog and Social Networking site specifically designed for realtors and real estate industry professionals; it is called ActiveRain. Is Active Rain a lightening rod and rain maker for those who use it? Will it suddenly be raining, not cats and dogs but referrals? Some folks who use it swear by it, others are a little more tempered in their testimonials.
ActiveRain, allows members to have points for each post they make to their blog and the more points you get the better your chances are to become a featured realtor, thus your name a picture … (4 comments)

realtors: Is Your Life and Career in Real Estate a Perfect Storm? - 12/24/07 03:23 AM
More and more realtors are getting out of the business - some of those who are battle hardened and will never give up have become cynical. I advise you to take a different path, the bumpy dirt road. Why you ask? Well, because adversity builds character; that's why.
You see, life is not suppose to be easy, no one ever promised you a rose garden, but that does not mean you cannot eat that cake you have and still enjoy it, while you are baking another one. What I am trying to say here is that the current real estate market is … (10 comments)
