Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Luxury Camouflage in Beverly Hills 2 - 05/31/12 02:38 PM

This photo is what Van Cleef & Arpels deemed appropriate for their remodel on the corner Rodeo Drvie and Dayton Drive in Beverly Hills.  Unlike Bulgari, Van Cleef Arpels' jewelry is classic in its luxury appeal.  It is an old world French jewelry compnay, founded in 1906 on the venerable Place Vendome in Paris. The brand is known for its signature mystery settings where the prongs are concealed.  Van Cleef & Arpels' customers have included the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. Their remodel facade is subtle and understated like their mystery settings.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate Tip: Are You Playing Chess or Checkers - 05/30/12 10:29 PM

Brand strategy for luxury real estate marketing professionals is all about achieving top- of-mind status.  That takes superior, long-range, strategic thinking. But, what is at stake?  The lion’s share of the business in your market place or a niche therein, that is what is at stake!
Who Needs Brand Strategy?
The only players who have a use for brand strategy are the ones who are bent on gaining or sustaining market leadership Incumbents or Challengers.  Everyone else is fighting over the crumbs, doing the best they can.   To seize or maintain the lion’s share you must think strategically.

Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Maintaining Your Orbital Marketing Perspective - 05/29/12 06:51 AM

As a luxury real estate marketing professional it is easy to get bogged down with the day-to-day activities of“transaction engineering” and neglect the life-blood of your business: promotion and marketing.  Sometimes you need to step back from your practice to regain your “orbital marketing prospective”.  It is only when you view your practice from a broader perspective that out-of-the-box thinking is possible.
Opportunities to out-think and out-market your competition abound.  This weekend we noticed that not a single real estate firm or agent sponsored one of the most well-attended community events of the year in our town of Santa … (10 comments)

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: A Perfect Ending: Phase 3 - 05/28/12 02:36 PM

The crowds kept pourring in on this last day of the exhibit of the I Madonnari, (Italian for Street Artists).  The majority of the works were completed.  In some instances the perfectionists were still shading and adding definition to their work.  The following is a tour of the great variety of artistry and inspiration that was part of the creative enegy at the Santa Barbara Mission today.

Tthe Ty Warner Sea Center is one of our favorites.  We loved the perspective and the array of jellyfish.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Speechless Sunday/Childrens' Faces - 05/27/12 10:20 PM

Late this morning we headed to the Santa Barbara Mission to view the second day of work of the street artists.  Work was still in progress, and we counted three tour buses that had come to view the Mission and enjoy the street art.  Children's faces captured our attention.  It was clear that the artists understood the artistry of portraiture.

The perspective is fun on this one, as the guy is filling in the surfoard the children are on, and he is right in the middle.  We hope this one will be done when we arrive tomorrow.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Madonnari Street Artists Phase 1 - 05/26/12 11:11 AM

In one of our posts we mentioned the event of the I Madonnari, Italian for street painters at the Mission in Santa Barbara.  We got there early, so that we could experience the event from the very beginning.  Many of the artists had already started and had completed a section.
Others were still marking off their grids and had begun to sketch their ideas.  Teamwork reigned supreme everywhere you looked,

We are looking forward to seeing the completed works.  By Monday, everyone will have their work finished.  We will be returning to see the progress as it evolves.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Hillside Heather in Santa Barbara - 05/25/12 01:47 PM

This lovely heater known as Italian heather is also known as Mediterranean heather.  It is a plant of many names, aka Darley Heath.  The botanists make the distinction that although it is in the heath family, it has heather habits, which means that it is an evergreen shrub or groundcover.  It has a bushy shape with hundreds of bell shaped flowers.  It is does well in full sun and in a well-drained soil.  For those of you who are gardeners, this plants does well in zones 6-9.  Happy Gardening.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: A Flower is a Perfect Brand - 05/24/12 11:58 AM

Flowers are fascinating.  We never tire of looking at them: they have texture, color and within the colors gradients.  Nature has given each flower its own survival strategy in attracting birds, butterflies and insects for pollination as well as their shape, their color and their preference of soil and sun.  A flower is a well crafted brand, uniquely perfect and a stand out among others of its species.   It is programmed for success by virtue of its nature.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: The Luxury of Simple Pleasures - 05/23/12 08:20 AM

One of the subjects that comes up often as we advise our clients in marketing luxury real estate is the fine line between specializing in the top tier of the marketplace and not wanting to alienate previous clients whose home sold in the mid price range.,our clients are concerned that they may come accross as too pretentions or aloof.  Inherent in that concern is a misconception of the meaning of luxury, because it is often associated with elitism and conspicuous consumption, whereas we firmly believe that this is a limited perspective because there is luxury in simple pleasures, for example, … (16 comments)

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Landscaping Curb Appeal in Santa Barbara - 05/18/12 09:22 PM
We were delighted to see this fabulous tiered entry to an appartment building located accross from the Santa Barbara Public Library.  The most unusual cactus looking struckture were planted with succulents, see close up below.  The building owners were very astute in creating a great curb appeal for renting these apartments.

Notice how, they have added a structure to this cactus looking planter to support the succulents as they grow tall and to aid them in draping over the planter.  This is a treat for all onlookers.

Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Filling the Missing Pieces of the Puzzle - 05/15/12 02:44 PM

As far as we are concerned, everyone involved in selling real estate would benefit from using the software application (cloud based) known as Basecamp.  We have tested many collaborative models and found them either too complicated or lacking in customer support. Basecamp is a cloud-based project management and collaboration app.  Customer service is excellent and an actual person responds to your query.  Furthermore, the company uses it for its own project managements and is continually updating and improving it. Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Bromeliad Bonanza - 05/13/12 09:43 AM

Yesterday at the Farmers' Market, in a Santa Barbara, there was a bromeliad bonanza.  They come in many colors.  The most common is a rosette (cup like) shape.  They are a subtropical plant.  Their leaves range in shades of green and some are spotted with purple, red or cream.  Some are air plants and attach themselves to trees or rocks, while others are terrestials.  Either way, they are beautiful and strange.  They were arranged so beautifully, we just had to share them with you.
