&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;As a luxury marketing professional one of the great ways to promote your marketplace is to report on the local festivities.&amp;nbsp; For example, we are planning to go to the Annual&lt;a href="http://frenchfestival.com/index.html" target="_blank"&gt; French Festival&lt;/a&gt;in Santa Barbara, Saturday and Sunday, July 13th &amp;amp; 14th (Bastille Day Weekend), from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Santa Barbara's Oak Park.&amp;nbsp; This is an&amp;nbsp;annual event, and they are expecting over 20,000 people to attend.&amp;nbsp; Admission is Free.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Some of the highlights include, a poodle parade, French chefs preparing typical French delicacies both savory and sweet.&amp;nbsp; French beer and wines as well as champagne will be available. &amp;nbsp;Also, former French colonies will be represented such as Vietnam (French Indochina) as well as Morocco and French Polynesia.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Forty acts on three stages will feature continuous entertainment of music, dancing (can-can), as well as cabaret style (Edith Piaf) to name a few. If you love anything French, it is a great opportunity to meet people, join a French speaking club, and learn about interesting trips to France.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Another way to promote YOU is to be a sponsor for one of these events.&amp;nbsp; The sponsors are always promoted and appreciated by the organizers who have large spheres of influence and may become your ardent referral sources.&amp;nbsp; Or, you could always volunteer to help at the event.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;On May 25th, 26th,and 27ths, street artists known as &lt;em&gt;Madonnari&lt;/em&gt;, will create at the Santa Barbara Mission 150 large scale images on the black pavement using pastels. &amp;nbsp;The images are sponsored by local businesses. This festival is held in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Madonnari sister city, Grazie di Curtatone, Italy. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;There are also kids' squares available for $10 each with pastels provided. &amp;nbsp;You do not have to be a kid to buy your own square,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;if you wish to discover your inner artist. Hours are from 10 -5 Daily, Admission is free.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;"The event benefits the &lt;a href="http://www.sbceo.k12.ca.us/%7Eccp/" target="_blank"&gt;Children's Creative Project&lt;/a&gt;, a nonprofit arts education program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office.       <title>Real Estate Personal &amp; Company Branding: Do You Need a Sub-Brand?</title>

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;One of the biggest concerns that we hear from luxury real estate marketing professionals is the fear of narrowing their niche to the top tier price range homes because it may alienate some of their friends or previous clients in lower price homes. &amp;nbsp;However, by diffusing your focus and attempting to be all things to all people, you run the risk of diluting your brand position, i.e., what your brand stands for and what you are known for.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;One global luxury brand has done a masterful job of compartmentalizing its various sub-brands with their multiple price points. By identifying its brand with sports in general (beyond polo, &amp;ldquo;the sport of kings&amp;rdquo;) Ralph Lauren has managed to attract not only high net worth consumers but also those who aspire to be wealthy.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;The key here is that Ralph Lauren created separate &lt;em&gt;sub-brands&lt;/em&gt; that stand for different things and focus on different target markets. For example, the Ralph Lauren Black Label Staor Tan Motorcross Jeans&amp;nbsp;is priced at $495; their basic denim jean, sold at Macy&amp;rsquo;s, is $90.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Yet, for some, wearing a shirt or other clothing embroidered with the ubiquitous polo pony logo has completely lost its appeal.&amp;nbsp; Apparently, a significant number of customers felt this way because Ralph Lauren made an ingenious move to lure disenfranchised customers back to the brand and keep others from switching.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;On their interactive website, you can customize their signature polo shirts, terrycloth bathrobes and other articles of clothing with YOUR OWN INITIALS instead of the pony! On certain items, the embroidered Polo logo has been moved to the bottom hem of the shirt. That way if you tuck it in it does not show.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="full-image-float-left ssNonEditable"&gt;&lt;img src="http://napaconsultants.com/storage/RLCreateYourOwn.png?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1368914190045" alt=""&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;You can choose from many color combinations of fabric and embroidered logos and several different font schemes for your initials. Once you make your shirt selection, your color choice and your font choice, it displays that combination on the model&amp;rsquo;s shirt.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Quality of manufacturing is not the question here because Ralph Lauren has built a strong reputation as a brand you can trust.&amp;nbsp; Blending in and &amp;ldquo;leaving the brand&amp;rdquo; is the issue.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;In the luxury services arena, some banks have figured out how to offer two levels of service without alienating any of their customers. To accomplish this they too created sub-brands. For example, there is definitely a world of difference in the level of service between Chase Private Banking and their standard banking services. &amp;nbsp;The amount of dollars entrusted to the bank (for investment purposes with J P Morgan in this case) is what separates the two sub-brands.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;There is a huge lesson here for luxury real estate marketing professionals. Bespoke (tailor made) or customized service is what your top tier customers have come to expect.&amp;nbsp; If you or your company wants to be known for more than one level of service, you must differentiate the two levels by creating sub-brands.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Crafting and developing your sub-brand is just as important as building your primary brand.&amp;nbsp; Do you need a sub-brand?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

We stopped into CostPlus, because there is always something fun to look, or something new to discover. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;We often look at their chocolate selections (yes, we both love chocolate), and lo and behold, there is a new chocolate we had not tried before! &amp;nbsp;So we bought a bar of 85% Heavenly Chocolate and it was just that...heavenly. &amp;nbsp;We almost finished it, and Ron declared, we have to stop there again tomorrow for more...&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

We headed to downtown Santa Barbara to go see the new &lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Star Trek: Into the Darkness.&lt;/em&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;Prior to the movie we strolled our main street, State Street. &amp;nbsp;It was a beautiful day, and on every street the jacaranda (purple blossom) trees are blooming.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;We really enjoyed the second prequel of Star Trek. &amp;nbsp;If you are a Star Trek fan, you will enjoy it. &amp;nbsp;We have always admired the visionary Gene Rodenberry, the creator of Star Trek. &amp;nbsp;We are delighted that his vision continues to be enjoyed by the new and the older generation.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Last week, we stopped at the Carpinteria Wine store, to ask our friend, Jane, to recommend something that would be good with Petrale Sole. &amp;nbsp;She found &amp;nbsp;the perfect wine pictured above, Botani Moscatel Seco. &amp;nbsp;It is a Spanish wine made with Moscatel grapes which are very sweet as a rule. &amp;nbsp;Here are the tasting notes from Botani, (wines from spain.com) &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;"&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt; Spain needs to continue making Moscatel in this vein: dry, layered, and definitely fun with or without food. The wine expresses aromas of orange flower water, lemons, oranges, and mangos in the nose, while the mouth has these same flavors, as well as distinct dried pineapple chunks. The finish is almost completely dry; it&amp;rsquo;s a bit of a happy roller-coaster ride. Drink soon."&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Although it was a beautiful day yesterday, the winds were blowing. &amp;nbsp;The weather bureau issued &amp;nbsp;a small craft advisory. &amp;nbsp;The beach was littered with uprooted kelp. &amp;nbsp;I am always fascinated by the life our kelp supports. &amp;nbsp;The picture above shows several mussels attached to the plant on the left.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;The roots of the kelp (as seen above) are usually attached to a small rock to facilitate the movement of the water. We have seen urchins, all types of clams and other sea creatures occupying the root system. &amp;nbsp;Our local halibut uses the kelp as spawing grounds. &amp;nbsp;They are an important part of the ocean's eco system.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

It is easy to get complacent.&amp;nbsp; But, by staying on this course you run the risk of getting stale or even stagnant. One of the key habits of successful market leaders is staying sharp by continuously reaching for new channels of creativity.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

But, sometimes it takes consistently chipping away to open a new channel of business.&amp;nbsp; Other times it may even require a bulldozer to clear the way. We discovered a perfect metaphor for this that we wanted to share with you.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Recently, while taking a walk on our Carpinteria beach here in Santa Barbara, California, we encountered an unusual phenomenon. The latest tides washed up a surplus of sand that blocked the &amp;ldquo;ever-present&amp;rdquo; channel between our salt marsh and the ocean, which threatened the entire ecosystem. It has occurred only five times in the last fifteen years.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Adjacent to our sandy beach, sub tidal rocky reef, and kelp beds is the &lt;em&gt;Carpinteria Salt Marsh Reserve&lt;/em&gt;. It contains a critically important Southern California estuary, which supports many sensitive plant and animal species.&amp;nbsp; The site includes extensive wetland, sub-tidal channel and emergent upland habitats. The reserve provides habitat for migratory waterfowl along with several species of plants and animals listed as endangered, threatened or of special concern.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;When this blockage occurs members of the Land Trust of Santa Barbara County and several volunteers work together to open a new channel between the marsh and the ocean.&amp;nbsp; Please take &lt;em&gt;less than one minute&lt;/em&gt; to watch the&lt;a href="http://vimeo.com/65524624" target="_blank"&gt; video &lt;/a&gt;we created to document this process. &lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;After spending the afternoon with relatives, we returned home and headed to the beach. &amp;nbsp;Mother's day celebrations were happening everywhere on the beach...As we were walking along enjoying the beautiful day (the high was 78 at the beach today), a lovely group of young girls passed us by and wished me a happy Mother's Day! &amp;nbsp;Who says the younger generation is doomed? &amp;nbsp;Not here on Sandyland Beach in Carpinteria, and I would bet that in many other places there is an abudance of wonderful young people...The Moms of America are doing a great job!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;From a branding stand point, it is an easy name to remember and it target market isthe younger demographic according to Red Wine Reviews, " it is a "cocktail wine"-i.e. a wine to drink during cocktail hour at a bar or party, and without food. And for that purpose, these wines are perfectly suitable, particularly for people who are newbies and moving their palates from thick microbrews to the wine scene."&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

On our way to investigate a portable outdoor grill, we spotted this beautiful floribunda (many flowers on one stem) bush. &amp;nbsp;The color was intense on one side and pale on the underside. &amp;nbsp;They also had a nice fragrance not too strong, just right! &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;We are always fascinated by nature's creations as it goes through its cycles. &amp;nbsp;We like to take our walks at the start of low tide. &amp;nbsp;We walk at the dge of the water and see what treasures are left behind, before they get swept away once again at high tide.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;And then there was this piece of underwater vegetation, pictured below, that we could not identify. &amp;nbsp;There was no one around to ask. &amp;nbsp;Next time, perhaps we will meet up with an underwater botanist, or perhaps someone among us knows what it is. &amp;nbsp;If you know, please tell us.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
