luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Website Design: 7 Components of an “Authoritative” Website - 02/06/12 02:49 PM

So much attention has been paid to get website visitors to find you, but what is going to keep them on your site and keep them coming back so you can capture their leads? In marketing luxury real estate online your website should give the visitor a strong level of confidence that you are the expert, the authority in your field.  Visitors should feel like they do not need to look any further once they have discovered your site because they have found the most authoritative website in your marketplace or the niche in which you focus.
"Authoritativeness” is … (15 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Do You Speak Cherimoya - 02/04/12 12:46 PM

Cherimoyas aka chirimoysa are fruits with white and creamy custard like flesh.  Mark Twain aka Samuel Clemens  loved cherimoya, and said, "it is the most delicious fruit known to men.  The fruit is also known as a custard apple, because when it is ripe the flesh is creamy like custard and can be eaten with a spoon.  They are in season here in Santa Barbara and many of the vendors at the Farmers' Market had them in various sizes.

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Web Design: Information Overload? - 02/03/12 02:34 PM

You may have heard the phrase, “sticky website” bandied about.   It has to do with the time a website visitor says on your website during a given visit.  The stickier the site the more time they spend there and the more chance you have for capturing their lead which is important if you want to gain or sustain market leadership as a luxury real estate marketing professional. But, is there point where providing too much information is detrimental to your succcess?
Content rich websites are sticky to the extent they offer compelling information.  But, how much information should you … (27 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: The Evolution of Web Sites & the Consumers Who Use Them - 01/17/12 02:43 PM

As a luxury real estate marketing professional, it is important to continue to meet the current needs of potential clients on your web site.  Luxury real estate sites need to evolve as consumers become more web-savvy, clearer about what they are looking for and more time-starved.
Consumers now expect to instantly find what they came for and also be able to control the speed at which they consume the information they find.  “Flash” sites and rich media sites are a thing of the past.  They can be a turn-off or a distraction for the “ready-minded” person.
For example, watching … (14 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: The Luxury of Spring in the Desert - 05/06/11 01:26 AM

Spring in the desert is very distinctive and beautiful.  On one of our first trips to Arizona many years ago we took a tour of the botanical garden and saw all the marvels of the desert plant and the blooms they produced.  When we were in Palm Springs several weeks ago, we spotted a block of these beauties.  The plant has a purple green hue and the blossoms are bright yellow.  It  once again illustrates for us the bounty of Nature's palette of colors, and that is the luxury of spring in the desert.

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Personal and Company Branding: I Yam What I Yam - 03/29/11 12:39 AM

If you could identify the most dominant/powerful aspect of your personality and amplify it in such a way that it could be expressed graphically, this would be one of the most important aspects of your personal brand.
Many luxury real estate marketing professionals fall into the trap of trying to be all things to all people. Like Popeye you have to be able to say, I Yam What I Yam and stand unwaveringly behind your brand personality statement.  For example, are you?
Conservative or innovative?
Serious or humorous?
Daring or risk avert?
Creative or methodical?
Entertaining or informative?

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: The Joy of Dolphins - 03/26/11 11:38 AM

When we went whale watching, the whales were a no show.  However, a pod(sometimes a group of 1000) of dolphins came by to save the day and entertain us.  It was wonderful watching their antics and hear kids squealing with delight.  We often see them on our walks by the beach as ffish and shrimp are plentiful along the shores.
This particular pod was out there by the Channel Islands.  Our waters are clear and even though it was a cloudy cold day, if you look closely at this picture you can see the one  under water about to grace … (22 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Beyond Sushi and Bonsai Part 2 - 03/23/11 09:16 AM

This is Part 2 of our blog series, Brand Japan, a tribute to the Japanese culture.
Understanding the principles of Japanese garden design, which is rich in symbolism and meaning, offers many lessons for us when designing brand identities for luxury real estate marketing professionals.  One design principle of Japanese gardens is the Art of Stone.
“The Art of Stone in a Japanese garden is that of placement.  Its ideal does not deviate from Nature.” Isamu Noguchi, Japanese sculptor 1904-1988
The placement of a stone in a garden can communicate volumes of meaning to the observer.  How a brand … (10 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Beyond Sushi and Bonsai - 03/22/11 12:06 AM

This week’s blog series is dedicated to achieving a deeper appreciation of the “brand Japan”, and the creative spirit of its people  who will be guiding their country's recovery.
Because branding is a shortcut to make it easy for people to remember you, your company or your product can, under certain circumstances, sell you short. In a time-pressed world, we need shortcuts to achieve trust in a relationship with a brand.  But, it is easy to get lazy and not override the shortcuts (that can sometimes be the equivalent of prejudices), in order to experience a deeper appreciation.   As … (13 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: The Joy of Exploration - 03/19/11 03:16 PM

Cats are known for their curious spirit and their joy of exploring new places and finding new adventures.  We have always encouraged our cats to enjoy the great outdoors.  The picture above is of one of our cats Luigi, when he was a 3 months old kitten. We loved the look of wonder on his face!  Happy Saturday! Cheers Ron & Alexandra

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: The Closing Gift that Keeps Giving - 03/16/11 12:19 AM

Sterling Silver Roses
The most important aspect of gift giving as a luxury real estate marketing professional is understanding who your client is. l In conversing with anyone, it is easy to listen for the clues of things they like:hobbies they are involved in or ideas they are passionate about.  These listening moments are a guarantee to finding the perfect gift that keeps giving.
When we were active in commercial real estate on the Westside of Los Angeles, many of our clients were avid gardeners.  The majority of them loved roses growing in their gardens.  Our gift to them was … (21 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Personal Branding: There is Room at the Top - 03/15/11 01:03 AM

David Cook
Niche marketing is your sure route to market leadership as a luxury real estate marketing professional. When you are secure within your niche and stay focused there you will discover that other niche leaders are not really your competition. Therefore, there is plenty of room at the top.
Niche market leaders are not in competition with their counterparts.  This is a very important concept to grasp.  They only compete with others within their niche.   See how this plays out in the American Idol competition.
While it is true that the American Idol contestant who survives with the most … (17 comments)

luxury real estate web design: Luxetera, etc: The Luxury of Jasmine /Speechless Sunday - 03/06/11 12:28 AM

In the last two days, we have been blessed with a hint of summer.  The warm breezes rustling through our jasmine hedge are sending its intoxicating scents throughout the garden and in the house as we enjoy this perfect moment.  It reminds us of the Seals and Crofts song “Summer Breeze”, here is the refrain,
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
The jasmine scent will be on our minds as the weather folk are predicting colder weather and rain for the coming week!  Happy Sunday, Wishing you a multitude of perfect moments  Ron … (20 comments)

It rained all day yesterday, at times it poured so much that the county issued a flash flood warning.  This morning it is crystal clear and the air is crisp and cold.  The ocean is reflecting the sunshine, and in the distance you can see the Channel Islands.  Happy Saturday to all.  R & A

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Website Design: Flash = No Cash - 02/22/11 10:28 AM

Drawing a Blank?  We Can Help! This weekend we researched over 30 luxury real estate agent web sites on our iPad. We were appalled tp discover that 75% were using Flash slide shows on their home pages and/or Flash videos . Flash equals no cash!
Apple mobile devices do not display Flash elements.  If you still have Flash slide shows or Flash videos on your website you could be losing business!  If consumers using iPhones and iPads draw a blank when they reach your site (especially your listings) you competition is just one click or tap … (8 comments)

Tunisian seaside

Every dictator knows that to operate successfully you have to control the media, and when something leaks out, a flow of disinformation should quell the problem.  What long time ruler of Tunisia, Ben Ali did not understand is the power of the Internet.  What started as a vindictive slap by a bribe seeking policewoman in central Tunisia, sparked a revolution in the whole country, and the demise of Ben Ali.  The report we saw on 60 minutes last night, had a shot of a graffiti on the former palace wall, Merci Facebook, and Thank You Facebook”.

luxury real estate web design: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Snow and Palm Trees in Santa Barbara/Speechless Sunday - 02/20/11 03:22 PM

After a day of  steady rain and a ten minute barrage of hail, yesterday, we woke up to a clear crisp day.  As we were talking with our dear friend on the phone, Ron noticed that there was snow on the hills above us.  That prompted a trip out camera in hand to record this momentous occasion.  It is that thin line of white on the hill.

luxury real estate web design: Book Review: Surviving Your Serengeti - 02/19/11 09:56 AM

Two years ago we had the privilege of reading one of the very first drafts of the new book penned by our colleague and dear friend Stefan Swanepoel. When we were together discussing his vision for the book he showed us his own amazing videos of the Serengeti migration and shared his passion about his native land.  The evolution of this master work has been exciting to watch and be a part of as it has unfolded.
For years Stefan has empowered US and international business leaders to make strategic decisions by identifying, distilling and brilliantly articulating the … (21 comments)
