featured website: Please Do Not Dump Information - 09/02/09 07:40 AM
Another featured website...another foray into the realm in which content is king.
The more real estate websites I review, the more I am reminded of the importance of information-rich content.
The good news is that most real estate websites do in fact offer lots of good information.
In many cases they offer too much, based on the premise that if information is good...more is better.
There is however some bad news.
Badly Organized Piles Of Information
In most cases, the information is organized very badly on agents' websites.
It's more like a dumping of information, much as you would … (4 comments)

featured website: How To Get More From Your Real Estate Advertising - 07/28/09 06:52 AM
Whichever advertising format your choose ...online, print or some combination of both...it is the most visible aspect of your marketing.
This means that your advertising must be as good...and effective...as you can possibly make it.
To Get More From Your Advertising...Put More Into It
How do you get more out of your advertising?
The answer is simple...put more into it.
Instead of more basic details or shameless self-promotion, putting more into your advertising means adding more prospect-friendly...and truly useful...information.
And the best information to add helps people who read your advertising learn more about real estate.

featured website: Free Home (Page) Inspection - 07/08/09 06:22 AM
Until recently, the last time I reviewed and updated my home page was when I completed 50 pages of content.
My site has evolved in many different ways since then.
Your Home Page Is Like A Front Door To A House

As I was preparing to update my home page, I came across a comment that made a lot of sense to me:
“Equate your home page to the front door of a house. Your voice...will determine what your visitors do with that door”
This comment is found on page 88 of Make Your Content PREsell, a very helpful...and … (8 comments)

featured website: You CAN Develop A Good Website From A Template-Based Corporate Format - 06/24/09 06:29 AM
Using a template-based corporate format, you an develop your own unique website that encourages visitors to contact you.
Corporate Websites
If you are a real estate agent, the chances are good to excellent that you work with local office of a real estate company such as Century 21, Re/Max or a smaller national or regional company.
This means that for purposes of developing your own website, participating in your corporate website arrangement is probably the easiest and most accessible option.
Unfortunately after choosing this option, too many agents do little else to develop their own web space.
As a result, … (5 comments)

featured website: Blogging: Ideas, Experience and Learning Opportunities - 06/19/09 06:13 AM
Blogging allows you to play with ideas, share your experience and benefit from some rich learning opportunities.
This being my 150th blog post, it's appropriate to reflect on my blogging experience. (Yes I know...the numbers show that this is only #148. I deleted 2 posts re-use the content for other purposes.)
In a nutshell...I love blogging.
Playing With Ideas
Sometimes it's fun just to play with ideas and see where the writing process takes them.
That is what happened yesterday.
That post was intended as a fun piece about chickens in the backyard but ended up as a more … (5 comments)

featured website: Here Is How The Principle Of 'Content Is King' Works In Practice - 06/17/09 06:55 AM
Good web content is clear, concise, complete and client focused.
Newspapers As Information Vehicles
Ever since Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press in 1440, newspapers have been an important vehicle for distributing great amounts of information on a variety of topics.
For the most part, this information has been presented in a well organized and user-friendly manner.
The website of The Mortgage Group Ontario achieves the same results.
With the look & feel of a well-planned and reader-friendly newspaper, it offers site visitors a huge amount of useful information on a variety of topics. Good Solid Information

featured website: Without Implementation, Your Goals Remain Unfulfilled Dreams - 06/12/09 05:53 AM
Today's blog post is the fourth and final excerpt from How To Achieve Better Marketing Results—Sooner...focuses implementation of business and marketing plans.
It seems an appropriate way to end a week in which the implementation was the common theme.
As well as implementing the new featured website element of my own website, I finally got around to implementing a long-delayed component of my website development plan...updating my earliest web content.
In the hope of assisting you in implementing all aspects of your various plans, here is my Friday offering.
Effective Implementation Doesn’t Just Happen
Despite the best of intentions, few … (5 comments)

featured website: A Great Website--That Will Also Help Improve Your Site - 06/11/09 06:15 AM
We can all learn from websites that work well for their owners.
Identifying What Works
In her comment responding to yesterday's blog post, Ginger Harper  said: “I don't know what works...”
In a nutshell, that is exactly why I started the free website review and the related series of featured websites: to identify websites that I think work.
Certainly when individuals create useful and valuable things...such as good websites...they should be recognized for their achievements.
In part, that is what I would like the featured website series to achieve...to publicly recognize good real estate related websites.
I also want a series … (2 comments)

featured website: The Best Experience Gets Even Better When It's Shared - 06/08/09 06:37 AM
Whether through a great marketing achievement or unique website, we all win when we share our experiences with others.
2 New Features
Over the past ten days I have added 2 new features to my website.
The first was the feature that allowed you to tell me..and visitors to my site...about your greatest marketing achievement.
The second invited you to submit your website for a free website site review...and possible inclusion as a featured site on my website.
Both elements are based on my fundamental belief that the best experience gets even better when it is shared.
Sharing experience … (1 comments)

featured website: Free Home (Page) Inspection - 06/04/09 06:48 AM
As I mentioned yesterday, last week marked the first anniversary of my home page.
Among other things, this triggered a review of my home page.
This was not an automatic review. I just thought it was time to review the home page.
The last time I reviewed and updated my home page was when I completed 50 pages of content...and my site has evolved in many different ways since then.
Your Home Page Is Like A Front Door To A House
