learning: Blogging: Ideas, Experience and Learning Opportunities - 06/19/09 06:13 AM
Blogging allows you to play with ideas, share your experience and benefit from some rich learning opportunities.
This being my 150th blog post, it's appropriate to reflect on my blogging experience. (Yes I know...the numbers show that this is only #148. I deleted 2 posts re-use the content for other purposes.)
In a nutshell...I love blogging.
Playing With Ideas
Sometimes it's fun just to play with ideas and see where the writing process takes them.
That is what happened yesterday.
That post was intended as a fun piece about chickens in the backyard but ended up as a more … (5 comments)

learning: Earning A Green Designation Is A Win-Win-Win Scenario - 04/24/09 06:33 AM
With a green designation, you...your clients..and your local community all benefit.
It's great when readers raise questions in their comments.
And what's even better is being able to answer the questions in subsequent blog posts.
Yesterday's post about the green designation brought this question from Harry D'Elia
“Will you be obtaining your green designation?
"Some agents believe that all these designations is just another way to make money. Thoughts?”

It was then that I first became aware of the joy of learning what interested me...instead of what was necessary to pass exams.
That first full time job was the … (1 comments)

learning: Sometimes We Have To See The Whole Forest...Not Just The Trees - 03/14/09 06:22 AM
Many things make more sense when you see them from the big picture perspective
Unplanned Connections...Old & New
After about 2 months of almost daily postings, (this is post #66), I'm happy to report that blogging has exceeded my expectations in every way.
Among the many things that I enjoy about blogging is seeing patterns emerge from seemingly unrelated postings.
Take for example, my post about vision boards
I came across the concept of vision boards while researching the topic of vision for new web content.
Intrigued by the idea, I decided to create my own vision board and based … (6 comments)

learning: Experience Can't Teach You Anything...But You Can Learn A Lot From It - 02/25/09 06:35 AM
The best experiences offer great learning opportunities...but you have to learn these lessons yourself.
As a charter member of the 'I Hate Clichés Club'
I'm always happy to deny the truth of a cliché whenever I can.
So it gives me great pleasure to say that the cliché...'Experience Is The Best Teacher'...is simply not true.
Defining The Terms
By definition an experience is 'encountering or undergoing something'...perhaps encountering bad weather on vacation...or undergoing a slow market.
Similarly, by definition, teaching is 'giving instruction' and a teacher is 'an instructor or someone who gives instruction.'
Logically, and event simply cannot 'give … (4 comments)
