newsletters: Keeping In Touch With Your Clients & Network Contacts - 12/08/09 05:23 AM
The key to developing and maintaining a successful referral program is knowing how to maintain a relationship with people who can make referrals to you. This presence will facilitate repeat business and referrals from satisfied clients. How To Maintain A Relationship With Clients Knowing how and when to keep in touch can be challenging. By keeping in touch too frequently, you risk annoying your contacts and having your message lost in the advertising clutter. On the other hand, not keeping in touch frequently enough makes it difficult to maintain a sufficiently strong presence to generate referrals. A knowledge of your clients will help

newsletters: How To Produce A Monthly Newsletter In 1½ Hours - 08/25/09 05:40 AM
After what seems like an endless flow of bog posts about newsletters, I have come across an excellent example of an agent's newsletter. A Unique & Professional Newsletter Since at least April 2006, Brian Madigan has sent newsletters to clients and contacts. To make sense of my comments that follow, check out Brian's September 2008 newsletter, and leave it in the window available for future reference. The first thing to notice about this newsletter is its unique and professional appearance. Brian chose the colors maroon and gold because he liked the look of them as used by 2 Canadian businesses

newsletters: What Is The Best Approach to Preparing a Newsletter? - 08/13/09 06:39 AM
Continuing with this week's unplanned...but hopefully helpful...series about newsletters, today's post is a question. The question: Which is the best approach to preparing newsletters that offer high quality original content? There are three choices: Doing it Yourself Outsourcing Canned' Newsletter Packages It's About Time Before addressing these questions, let's clarify what is involved in preparing a newsletter that offers high quality original content? As outlined in Monday's blog, there are three components of newsletters: planning content production Without going into details, the planning component would probably require a minimum of 5 hours. This would include items 1, 2 & 3

newsletters: The Ideal Solution For The Twin Curse Of Transaction-itis & Short Attention Span - 08/11/09 07:01 AM
Yesterday in response to my comment about newsletters, Andrea Swiedler said " ...I bought one before [a newsletter] and loved it I always had CMA requests after they went out, it was pretty good! Wonder why I don't do that anymore...” While there is no way of my knowing specifically why Andrea does not buy newsletters any more, I can offer a suggestion as to why many sales people do not repeat seemingly productive activities. Many sales people, including real estate agents suffer from the twin curse of transaction-itis and short attention span. Transaction-itis This condition results in sales

newsletters: Would You Like Some Help With Your Newsletter? - 08/10/09 05:46 AM
In my earlier post today I wrote about the creative process. Here is an other example of how the 2 key components...being open to possibilities and trusting the process...work in practice. Newsletters Are Important Back in March, I raised the question of whether newsletters were still important marketing tools. The response was virtually unanimous...yes. I asked the same question once again at the end of July. And once again the response was overwhelmingly yes. Why did I ask the same question twice? Quite simply for some time, I have been thinking about starting my own newsletter and wanted to satisfy

newsletters: Are Newsletters Still Important? - 07/28/09 07:07 AM
Some time ago, I posed the question: Do newsletters help you attract new business? The response was great...and also very helpful. So I decided to ask it again, this time to help me decide if I should consider developing my own newsletter. Keeping In Touch Has the growth of blogging and social media, such as Twitter and Facebook reduced the use ...and usefulness of newsletters? In the past, newsletters have been ideal ways to keep in touch with clients and contacts...but at intervals ranging from monthly to annually. In today's instant world, I wonder how effective newsletters...as less frequent communications...can

newsletters: Marketing Communications VI: Newsletters Plant Seeds That Can Turn Into Referrals - 03/21/09 05:48 AM
About 10 days ago, I asked if newsletters are still important. Based on the comments received, the consensus is: yes they are. In his comment, Dean Jackson explained why they are important: “Client newsletters are a fantastic way to be in contact with clients every month...but the BIG purpose of those newsletters is to plant seeds that can turn into referrals.” And even better, Dean went onto explain how newsletters can help generate referrals How Newsletters Generate Referrals “ALL referrals are a result of conversation. In order for a referral to happen - three things have to take place.

newsletters: Are Newsletters Still Important? - 03/12/09 06:08 AM
Do newsletters help you attract new business? There's no doubt that the benefits of online advertising have reduced the overall importance of advertising listings in print media. But what about newsletters? Has the growth of blogging and social media, such as Twitter and Facebook reduced the use ...and usefulness of newsletters? Keeping In Touch In the past, newsletters have been ideal ways to keep in touch with clients and contacts...but at intervals ranging from monthly to annually. In today's instant world, I wonder how effective newsletters...as less frequent communications...can be. Certainly from marketing perspective, newsletters can help get your message out...but
