I had buyers in town from Kansas over the weekend who need to close in the middle of January due to a job transfer. The requirements that they had for their next home could not be met by any home currently listed in the MLS. My suggestions was to go with two out of three. What were the three things they wanted? Williamson County Schools are again the top schools in Tennessee, and the top elementary schools in the Nashville area once again are in Brentwood and Franklin followed closely by Thompsons Station and Spring Hill schools. I compiled these numbers from Schooldigger.com. Click on the school name to see homes currently zoned for that school. Comparing Nashville schools to Williamson county schools seemed like a good idea when I started working on this page. But after reviewing the data it becomes painfully obvious that it's not really even close enough to be a fair comparison. Using the most current TCAP scores that all students take in Tennessee (most states don't do this), and leaving out all magnet schools (they cheat by only allowing the best students), of the top 20 elementary schools in the area, 18 are in Williamson county. With a score of 0.941, Williamson county schools was named first out of US public school systems with more than 20,000 students enrolled. Poplar Grove School In Franklin is Not What It Used To Be - I asked one of my clients about her children yesterday, just as a casual conversation, and I really didn't expect what she told me. She said that her children have been attending Poplar Grove in Franklin for several years, but the school was rezoned last year, and the education that her children are getting now seems to be moving at a much slower pace. Williamson County schools scored an average composite ACT score of 23.4, the highest score Williamson County schools have achieved to date. Tennessee is one of nine states that requires its students to take the ACT, a test used to assess students’ college and career readiness. Brentwood High School topped county high schools with an average composite score of 25.4. For years, the schools in Tennessee were considered to be behind those of a lot of states, but since only 9 states require ACT tests from high school students, the rest of the states don't have a true average. Williamson County Schools are again the top schools in Tennessee, and the top elementary schools in the Nashville area once again are in Brentwood followed closely by Franklin schools. I’ve combined the TCAP scores for each area of testing Math/Reading/Science/social studies, and created a spread sheet for easy comparison. By the way, the Tennessee department of education gives all of the schools in Williamson county a grade of “A”. You can visit the Tennessee Department of education for information on schools not in the list. Elementary school and middle schools use tcap scores, high schools use act scores. In the Williamson county section of the Sunday paper today, they showed all of the lists that Williamson county or any of it's cities (Brentwood, Franklin, Fairview, Spring Hill) were on national lists.
