History of a Painting - Amish Acres Framed Set of 4.
I have been showcasing my paintings one at a time and occasionally, if I have several paintings, I will make a framed set of them. By popular request from Debbie Laity and Lisa Von Domek , here is the set of four framed prints of my Amish Acres set.
Amish Acres was my first Art Festival that was outdoors and was located in Nappanee, Indiana. It is held every August and I participated in the show 30 times, winning several awards throughout the years. It took me 3 years to get up the nerve to attempt … (11 comments)

The Round Barn Theatre, Nappanee, IN.
is Open for the 2016 Season.
The Round Barn theatre originally came from a barn that was built in 1911, dismantled and moved 12 miles to its current location and reassembled in 1998. The barn is sixty feet in diameter and 60 feet tall at its highest point. The theatre has a 400 seating capacity that is in the orchestra section, mezzanine and balcony.

The "Time Was" museum was started by Paul Thomas in 1988 on North Main Street, in Elkhart, IN. Paul Thomas, born on October, 23, 1923 has lived in Elkhart all but 6 months of his life. He opened and ran a shoe store for almost 50 years.
After selling his store to his son,, Mr Thomas opened the "Time Was" museum above the store on the second floor. Since then, the seven rooms have been filled with memorabilia dating back to 1868.

The very first outdoor Festival, where I displayed and sold my paintings, was a local show in Elkhart County, in Nappanee, Indiana. The Amish Acres Arts & Crafts Festival was about 12 years old then and was held in the apple orchard, but I have since participated in 30 of their annual shows.

Artwalk is a self-guided tour of downtown Elkhart which offers fun for both children and adults. The tour runs from 5 pm to 8 pm and features many participating artist, craftmen museums and and businesses.
The Midwst Museum of American Art, 429 S. Main, will offer FREE admission to the 37th Jurried Regional, which features 207 selected works from artists from northern Indiana and Southern Michigan.

Every year about this time, Parke County, Indiana is flooded with people during the week long, Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. For several years, I participated in the festival, as I exhibited on the Courthouse lawn in Rockville, Indiana. Excitement covers the communities of Rockville, Bridgeton, Rosedale, Mecca and Mansfield as hundreds of vendors are scattered around the County.

Many of you know that my latest painting was accepted into the Juried Regional Art Show, held at the Midwest Museum of American Art. The piece will be on display with over 200 other works of art, which includes Oil paintings, photography, sculpture, Water Color, Acrylic Paintings and other 3 dimensional work.

In 1929 Vincent Bendix, founder of Bendix Aviation purchased 610 acres of land, northwest of South Bend, Indiana. In 1933, Bendix Field was opened. In 1936, just months before her final flight, Amelia Earhart landed in South Bend.
Starting with President Eisenhower, every United States President has landed in South Bend, President Obama's, Air Force One landed at the airport, while visiting Elkhart and vicinity, when unemployment was high in the area.

It's been a while since I highlighted this gem of a restaurant. It's one of those out-of-the-way places that people keep coming back for. Rickey's Taqueria is a small place with six tables and a lunch counter. I has become quite a lunch spot with picnic tables and a canopy. It may not look like the best Mexican Restaurant in Elkhart, but according to "Dining Out", Rickey's has ranked in the top 3 the longest, since 1995. If you like Original Mexican Food, just ask many of their customers. The reviews have said it all.

The Warbirds Return to Elkhart on October 3 - 4, 2015.
No it is not a Rock Group! Last year I was able to see some of the activities at the Elkhart Municipal Airport, as the pilots show off their vintage WWI and WWII planes that protected our country.
The Elkhart Warbird Gathering Weekend will feature the planes as you can see them up close on the ground or watch them manuver in the air.
