Hall of Heroes, Super Hero Museum, Elkhart, Indiana.
Of the numerous museums in Elkhart County, the Hall of Heroes is the most exciting for Children and Super Hero enthusiasts combined. The Hall of Heroes was created by Allen Stewart, of Elkhart, as a replica building, "The Hall of Justice" from the Super-friends animated series, that was popular in the 1970's.
The museum has a collection of over 50,000 comic books dating back to the 1940's and original artwork used in comic books and animation numbering in excess of 100 pieces.
There are many displays throughout the museum featuring many superheroes, which include actual movie and TV props.

As the Drive-in Theatres dwindled in numbers, as businesses or developers bought up the properties, I captured the images of a few of theose theatres. One of the few remaining theatres in Indiana, is the Tri-way in Plymouth, Indiana. It has 3 screens so the can show several movies at once, to bring in larger crowds.

While traveling around the country exhibiting at Art Shows and Festivals, several were close to home, so I painted some local places. Bonnie Doon was one of those places. The family-owned business covered South Bend and Mishawaka, with 5 locations.

This location was on Lincolnway, in Mishawaka. It is the only location still operating, but is no longer within the family. Bonnie Doon ice cream is still popular. The plant is located in Elkhart and can be purchased at retail outlets in the area.

Thousands attended.
While Evelyn and I, helped selling food and drink tickets, thousands of visitors enjoyed the restaurants & entertainment located around the gardens, as well as the talented artisans with their paintings, sculptures,jewelry and glass art. I was able to take some pictures before reporting to our appointed booth.
Here are some of the pictures I took at the festival.
Over 20 Restaurants brought their specialty dishes to the people to taste and enjoy,
advertising their local businesses.
The artist enjoyed the attention of the thousands of attendees.

The many times I have driven south on Ash Road (West County Line Road) in Elkhart County, I have always noticed the Huge Rocks and Boulders at the business just north of Lincolnway (US33). Over the last several months I have noticed the inventory dwindling. They have been moving all those huge boulders to their new exciting location on County Road 6, along Christiana Creek.

The Young Professionals of Elkhart have a performance each year as a fundraiser to help in the revitalization of downtown Elkhart. Last year was a Roaring 20's theme. This year, it was "The Heist", a suspense audience participation comedy thriller.
The gathering started at the Ruthmere Mansion, where champaigne was served and everyone was shown 3 priceless items, under armed guard, that would be involved in the heist.
Everyone was then transported to the Lerner Theatre, in the Crystal Ballroom, where drinks and dinner was served, while having live entertainment.

While traveling and exhibiting in Art shows and festivals, I had done a number of shows in and around Atlanta, Georgia. When the movie came out "Fried Green Tomatoes, we found that the movie was filmed in Georgia and that you could actually eat at the Whistle Stop Cafe. One weekend, we decided to visit the restaurant and cafe.

Bill's Bar-B-Que Adds Second Location in Elkhart.
For many years, Bill's Bar-B-Que and Fish Market has been on the corner at 1592 W. Franklin. It is Elkhart's oldest Bar-B-Que Joint. The food walked away daily, as there was no seating available. Bill's now has opened a second location, now occupying the old Long John Silvers building at 2426 Benham Avenue, Elkhart. It is still family owned and operated.
