High Blood Pressure! - 05/25/08 09:35 PM
Last week I found out I have high blood pressure!  I thought I was in good shape but a visit to the ER with a injured foot told me otherwise.
Some of the major factors that contribute to High Blood Pressure in no order are
Salt - For years I used way too much
Diet- Delaware is a few minutes South of Philadelphia (cheese steak capitol of the world)
alcohol- I used to drink  beer
Caffeine- Everyday, giant bottomless mug of coffee
Tobacco Use - yes
Family History - Heart problems
STRESS!- Realtor

A Day in Old New Castle - 05/17/08 11:42 PM
New Castle Delaware- Today in Old New Castle about 2 dozen home owners opened their historic homes to the public for the 84th annual  "A Day in Old New Castle"
Calvin Marshall the owner of the Van Dyke House was one of the residents to give his time and efforts and allowed people to tour his home that was visited by Marquis de Lafayette a French military office and supporter of America during the Revolutionary war.  The home was built in 1820.
The day also raised money for local charities.

Delaware may expand gambling to table games
 
Lawmakers in Delaware are considering adding table games such as craps to the  Delaware slots and racetrack venues.
Video Lottery Advisory Council Chairman Edward Sutor says the move could generate about 42 million dollars for the state and create 750 jobs. 
Also discussed in the meeting were allowing gambling to be conducted on Christmas and Easter.
I for one hope these plans never get enacted.

 The National Weather Service is expceting 2 inches of rain in New Castle County today and Tuesday with creeks and streams already at a high level because of last weeks rains.  There is a coastal flood warning until 8pm Tuesday.

The death toll of the deadly cyclone in Burma is now at 200,000 and could go as high as 500,000 through disease and hunger as the nations harline rulers block aid for the people according to http://www.thesun.co.uk/
The town of Labutta appears to been wiped off the map, it used to have 80,000 residents now it looks like only 200 people survived.  In the City of Bogalay it is estimated that 95% of the homes are destroyed. 
The numbers are staggering compared to the 648 people who died during Hurricane Katrina for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.

The Delaware State Police gathered to  honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty today, 125 officers have lost their lives protecting our citizens.
The Delaware State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police holds the Delaware Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service annually on the first Wednesday in May. 
Delaware State Police salute during a service honoring their fallen comrades today in Dover.

For the 10th year the Delaware Air National Guard held its Plane Pull for the Special Olympics.  The event held over the weekend at the Air Guard Base on Basin Road had a some special guests including Miss Delaware USA 2008 Vincenza Carrieri-Russo who helped to pull the plane with 4.5 inch heels!  Teen USA 2008 Bethany Brindley, 18, of Wilmington was there but she wore Nikes.
Over the last 10 years the Plane pull has helped raise more than $150,000 for the Special Olympics of Delaware.
