Today I went to the gym for the first time in a few weeks and ran into one of the owners Jeff and as we were talking I realized that I have not be coming around as much as I should. I used to be a serious gym rat but with real estate picking up and showing lots of homes really keeps you busy!

When I leave the fitness center I always feel great! There is nothing like getting on the stepper/treadmill for 30 minutes and lifting some weights. I am energized every time!

But enough about me, let me tell you about my gym! Jeff and Troy are the owners and they stocked their club with the newest equipment, Nautilus and free weights, 2 private baths with showers, tanning beds and the place is CLEAN! Mount Cuba Astronomical Observatory Greenville Delaware

The Mount Cuba Astronomical Observatory is located just a few miles North of the City limits of Wilmington close to the Hoopes Reservoir.

It is the only observatory in Delaware that is open to the general public usually on selected Monday nights. They only allow adults and children in the 5th grade or above and you must make reservations to attend the program. 302-654-6407

Delaware H1N1 Vaccine

Delaware Schools started giving out the H1N1 Vaccine this week at many Delaware schools.

The Elementary School students will be getting the nasal spray while the older students will get the shots in the coming weeks. Those who wish for their children to receive the shots must sign a consent form prior to the vaccine being given.

It would be a great idea to check with your childs school to see when the vaccine will be available.

New Tax Credit for homebuyers update- its Official!

NEW Homebuyer Tax Credit! Here is the skinny:

•1. Tax Credit Extended to April 30, 2010.

•2. Sales contract must be binding by April 30^th and settlement must occur prior to July 1, 2010.

•3. Income limit qualification has increased to $125,000 for single and $225,000 for married persons.

But wait... There's more:

•4. A new Tax Credit of $6,500 was added for homeowners who do not qualify as first timers!

•5. Must have used the home sold or being sold as a principal residence consecutively for 5 of the previous 8 years.

Are you working with a borrower who is currently serving in the Armed forces? If the military personnel is/was stationed outside the United States for 90 days or more, they receive a separate extension.

•6. Service period must have occurred between January 1, 2009 and May 1^st 2010.

•7. The time line is extended ONE YEAR -

•a. May 1^st, 2011 for a binding contract.

•b. July 1, 2011 settlement date.

Fate of Newark Delaware Chrysler Plant

Chrysler is seeking the approval of the Federal bankruptcy court to sell the now closed auto plant in Newark Delaware.

According to (Reuters) the University of Delaware plans to purchase the 270 Acre plant for $24.25 million.

So what will the University of Delaware do with a extra 270 acres? The last news report I read said they were planning on using some of the land for medical research but the rumor around town is a new football stadium may be in the works also.

Boxwood Road GM plant may be new home to Fisker Automotive!

Oct. 25, 2009 The News Jornal reported that Fisker Automotive http://karma.fiskerautomotive.com/ may soon announce that they will be building what they call the "worlds first luxury plug-in hybrid electric vehicle at the old Boxwood Road Gm Plant.

According to the company website American automaker Fisker Automotive was recently approved for a conditional loan of $528 million by the Department of Energy (DOE). The next generation Karma will be built entirely in the U.S

It looks like they plan on making 75,000-100,000 of these cars a year and the resulting vehicle will sell for about $39,900 after federal tax credits.

With 50 miles of electric range and more than 350 miles of total range, the Fisker Karma with its proprietary Q-DRIVE powertrain developed by Quantum Technologies, will have the potential for a fuel economy of over 100 miles per gallon (MPG) on extended drives. Fisker Karma has a top speed of 125mph and 0-60 comes in less than 6 seconds.

This could mean thousands of jobs New Castle County which saw 2 large auto plants close recently. Lets keep our fingers crossed it all comes together!

Once in awhile you run across a great new place to have lunch and you want to share it with everyone. Its called the Sugar Rush Cafe located at 17 N. Chapel St., Newark, De. 19711

What makes it so special? When you take a owner from 2 upscale resturants and open a cool eatery only good things can happen!

Check out some of the menu

Arizona caesar salad ($7.95), that spices up plain grilled chicken

Norwegian salmon salad ($8.55), a bed of greens topped with smoked salmon, roasted red peppers, red onion, tomatoes, Parmesan cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette.

artichoke prosciutto ($8.25), prosciutto and provolone with tomato, marinated artichokes and balsamic dressing.

B Spicy panini ($7.55).Spicy chicken, plum tomatoes, roasted red peppers, onions, blue cheese crumbles and a homemade cajun sauce came in between two pieces of crisply grilled bread.

maple smoked ham sandwich ($7.95)was another simple, but delicious sandwich. The roll was filled with generous amounts of ham, bold asiago cheese and honey mustard.

There are also baked potatoes on the menu, and we tried the buffalo chicken potato ($4.95). The spud was loaded with spicy chicken, tomato and cheddar cheese, and was a welcome departure from the average lunch.

Don't forget to check out the cakes and pies, with a name like Sugar Rush you are sure to find something pleasing in the desert case!

Our Phils did it again and for the 3rd year in a row are the Champs of the NL East Division!

Unlike the last 2 seasons this one didnt come down to the wire as the Phils had a hefty lead on the division for most of the year.

Rollins had a very slow start, newcomer Raul Ibanez set the league on fire for the first half but slowed down after a injury but was still a asset in left. Ryan Howard is sitting at 43 homers, bit of a off year in that department but had more hits and 11 more doubles than last year. Chase Utley had a solid year at 2nd and should be a key player in the playoffs. Jayson Werth set personal bests in Hits, Doubles, Homers and total bases. For the first time in history 4 Phils will end the season with 30 or more homers.

Delaware Auto Airbag Safety!

A few years ago I met a retired duPont engineer who was telling me about his work at the company over his 40 some years at the company.

One of the projects he spoke of was the auto air bags, specifically the steering wheel air bags and their dangers.

Larry, he said "tell everyone you know especially the women you know not to put their hands on the top of the steering wheel!" When I asked why he told me that when a airbag deploys with your hands on the top of the wheel your hands go back straight to your face causing face and hand injuries! You may even loose a hand or fingers if they are inside the wheel when the bag goes off.

After some googling I found that a airbag deploys at about 200 miles per hour with a force of 2000 pounds of force!

This force is also 6 times what the human body can survive if you are too close to the airbag when it goes off!

Here is what the experts say.

1. Grip the steering wheel at the 10 o'clock 2 o'clock positions or lower

2. Always sit with your chest at least 12 inches from the wheel.

3. Never put your hand or fingers near the airbag and dont hit the horn at the onset of a accident.

4. Children and frail people should not sit in the front of the car, its usually safer in the back

5. ALWAYS wear a seat belt!

6 If you do have a accident and the airbag did not deploy be careful, the airbag may deploy at any moment.

The government has given the auto makers until 2012 to make th airbags safer, until then please follow the above rules so you and your family can reduce injury or deaths caused by airbags.
