There are many parts of Georgia affected by our nation's economic slowdown and mortgage loan meltdown and the ripple effects of fewer hours for workers, higher unemployment, foreclosures dominating the real estate markets and tightening credit restrictions have added insult to injury in many places.

In the Dalton area, I unscientifically estimate prices down 15-20% in many cases, with some isolated developments faring better. I believe a similar percentage of real estate agents have dropped out of actively working in the business and have found other employment.

My business is probably 50% of what it was in 2006 and since I've been in the business for 23 years, I intend to wait this one out and hang in there.
