Goal Setting How Important Is It - 12/27/11 01:06 PM
Last Year at this time I set a goal of 100 ends. Normaly my goal is 50 ends. It had been a difficult market in 2010 and I realized I had to work harder and smarter if our small firm was going to survive what was turning out to be one of the worst economies in my career. Government had tightned the lending rules and buyers were scarce. I work with one assistant my daughter Natasha. My sales people were struggling and cash flow was down. As with most small brokerages the buck stops with the owner. I am writing (10 comments)
Private For Sale By Owner - 12/26/11 12:31 AM
Private For Sale By Owner Recent changes to the Canadian Real Estate industry has opened up the MLS™ system to private for sale postings. Different versions of these private for sale companies are taking advantage of this change. The listing still has to be posted by a licensed Realtor™ member but the selling commission can be shown as $1.00 if the owner is unwilling to pay a selling commission. The unlicensed private for sale companies pay the licensed member a fee for posting the listing on the local MLS™ system. The most well known private for sale company is PropertyGuys (7 comments)
Having A Bad Day - 12/21/11 11:19 PM
Here is a poem I wrote some years ago. I was driving on a country road and I was havinga bad day. I stopped and walked through the woods and came to a quiet spot by a stream. I sat under a tree and in the quiet of the forest I wrote this poem. I thought I would post it as a small reminder of the reason for the season as we approach the holidays. Although Christmas is a time to enjoy with family it is also a time of lonliness and despair for many who have lost loved ones and (5 comments)
Do You Realize How Lucky You Are ? - 12/20/11 12:58 PM
Do You Realize How Lucky You Are? I find it quite amazing how some small occurrence will trigger a thought pattern or focus of thought in our minds. As most of you know I write quite a few articles and stories. Have you ever wondered where I come up with the ideas? Mostly I write about life as I see it and experience it. We all see and experience many of the same things but our experience is ultimately unique to us. Thus my stories are based on my perception and unique to me and my opinions only. Some one else (10 comments)
A Ray Of Hope - 12/16/11 05:51 PM
Here is an article about faith and hope I wrote in 2008. I thought I would post it to perhaps provide encouragement to any who might appreciate the messge. It is a true story of how in my opinion God answered my prayers in a time of sorrow.
A Ray of Hope
Hope is a funny thing . You can’t see it or touch it but you see it all around us . Many people have so little that all they have is hope. They hope for a better day. They hope they will get better and recover from (4 comments)

This has actualy happened twice during my career . In Nova Scotia the buyer can take the insurance proceeds and still close or not buy the property. In both cases I was involved in the buyers decided not to buy. (2 comments)

Having Trouble Believing In God ? - 12/06/11 06:32 PM
Having Trouble Believing In God? I meet many people who do not believe in God or a God so to speak. Did you ever wonder why so many of us supposed believers cling to our believe so stubbornly? I have been by more than one bedside and discussed the existence of God and Heaven with more than one person who knew they were soon to die. Death is scary to us all. Life for us all ends in death. It is amazing how we all strive to get ahead not admitting to ourselves that the reward at the end of life (2 comments)
I tell many people I believe I live and work in Paradise. Travelling through Nova Scotia listing, selling and appraising real estate for so many years has been a wonderful experience. I always have my camera at the ready to capture those special moments that our creator sprinkles all around us in our daily travels. Those few minutes of sunlight fading. That one evening sky never to be repeated. Colourful fall contrasted by the many shades of blue water flowing through the forest or waves (2 comments)
Do You Know What You Are Eating ? - 12/06/11 05:45 PM
Do You Know What You Are Eating ? Did you know that many products we assume are grown and processed in our own country are actually produced in another country ? Now to some that may not matter but I like to know where my food is coming from for obvious reasons. There is a lot of deceptive labelling indicating Canadian or American food when actually only the distributor is American or Canadian. The only sure way to know is by reading the Bar codes usually found on the back of the package. The first two numbers indicate the country of (0 comments)
