For those of you that keep up on green trends and building, there is a user voted contest for the best green blog going on right now. The Green Log Awards lists the best green remodeling websites found on the web. If you are looking for green remodel information or just green news in general, that list is the place to look (especially for you eco-all stars). I've voted for my favorite Green Talk, one of the best green blogs I've read. If you head over to check it out, feel free to vote for my favorite blog. If you have

green awareness: More products for green remodeling - 03/27/08 06:03 PM
One of the biggest problems that people have when trying to remodel their home "green" is finding quality green products. Most big local home remodeling chains don't carry a large selection of green products, although we'll see that change in the next couple of years I'm sure. While surfing around, I found this post about green designed doors on green-talk. The company offers a huge selection of styles and are priced comparably to normal higher end doors you'd find at a local store. I know there are a few rainers that are doing their own green remodels out there. You might want

green awareness: Will Green effect older homes? - 02/23/08 04:44 PM
Las Vegas residents, like some many others in other parts of the country, have been seeing their utility rates continue to go up every year. The push to go "green" is also getting stronger as well, which leads me to my question: Will the energy efficiency of a property becoming more a major selling point (or detriment) in the next two years? I put a post up asking that on our main blog here. Along with a poll. I'm curious to see the results. - Charles

green awareness: Green becoming main stream - 11/22/07 08:04 PM
If you haven't noticed, going Green has been going main stream. If anything, you can thank Al Gore for that. Green awareness has never been higher, and manufacturers and home builders are starting to jump on the bandwagon. There are more "green" projects than ever before, especially for Nevada. The largest green project under construction is still CityCenter, but the upcoming Union Park project will be larger. Going green has hit every market, even the internet. You can now get a webhost that powers your site by solar energy like this green blog, Green Talk. There is even a site that lists

green awareness: What is fueling Green growth in Nevada? - 11/18/07 02:27 PM
Southern Nevada has always had several major home builders that consistantly built only Energy Star rated homes. Most of those have been doing so for the last several years, but now we are starting to see green projects pop up as well. You can read the rest of the article here. -cr

green awareness: Home Depot is giving away free compact fluorescent light bulbs - 04/18/07 04:04 PM
In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), Home Depot is giving away ONE MILLION N:vision compact fluorescent light bulbs to any customer who visits any Home Depot store. There are a few restrictions. Offer is restricted to the continental US and it is first come, first serve. Once supplies run out, that's it. Its part of a promotion of Eco-line products that Home Depot is rolling out. As a nation, we are probably better off concentrating on reducing the amount of emission coming from our residences than our cars. The reason why I say this, is the fact posting on the

green awareness: Project City Center - 03/02/07 08:57 PM
Las Vegas is getting its first green project on the Las Vegas strip, CityCenter. CityCenter will be a project on a unprecedented scale and will feature green technologies making it one of the world biggest's environmentally sustainable urban communities. Potential residents will have a choice of four high rise residences, all built in a contemporary urban design. The project will have two condo-hotel buildings, the Mandarin and the Harmon as well as two purely residential high rises, the Vdara and the Veer Towers. In addition to the many luxury amenities found in high rise living, residents will also be given priority
