Mariel Zagunis retains her Athens
2004 Olympic gold medal winning title, defeating her teammate
Sada Jacobson in the gold medal bout 15-8, and 2006 world
champion Becca Ward narrowly beating her Russian rival Sofiya
Velikaya 15-14 won the Bronze.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I'm hoping this is a sign of the great things
to come from our great country during these games.&amp;nbsp; If you missed the
opening ceremonies... you missed one of the most amazing events of our lifetime
and should really check it out.&amp;nbsp; The vast number of performers, the
elegance with which they performed, the themes and messages... and of course the
fireworks were at times awe inspiring.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;

When you get to the site you may have to search "opening ceremonies".&amp;nbsp; I
have found 3 videos so far that combined show the entire event...&amp;nbsp; truly

My friend (a contractor and real estate investor)
bought an older hotel and converted it into a hostel.&amp;nbsp; The remodel was
completed in 2007 and they opened for business!&amp;nbsp; They offer both "dorm
style" as well as private rooms and the floor of every room was hand painted by friends, family and local artists.&amp;nbsp; The walls are
covered with artwork painted and drawn by guests.&amp;nbsp; You can see lots of
pictures of the artwork, the hostel and Alaska on the
&lt;a href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&amp;amp;friendid=232121857"&gt;

$7500 tax credit that would be would be available for any qualified purchase

&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;
&lt;li class="MsoNormal"&gt;
&lt;span style='font-family: " color: black;'&gt;
&lt;a href="http://www.fha.com/"&gt;FHA&lt;/a&gt; foreclosure rescue &amp;ndash; development of a
refinance program for homebuyers with problematic subprime loans. Lenders
would write down qualified mortgages to 85% of the current appraised value
and qualified borrowers would get a new &lt;a href="http://www.fha.com/"&gt;FHA&lt;/a&gt;
30-year fixed mortgage at 90% of appraised value. Borrowers would have to
share 50% of all future appreciation with &lt;a href="http://www.fha.com/"&gt;FHA&lt;/a&gt;.
The loan limit for this program is $550,440 nationwide. Program is effective
on October 1, 2008.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;
&lt;li class="MsoNormal"&gt;
&lt;span style='font-family: " color: black;'&gt;Seller-funded
downpayment assistance programs &amp;ndash; codifies existing
&lt;a href="http://www.fha.com/"&gt;FHA&lt;/a&gt; proposal to prohibit the use of
downpayment assistance programs funded by those who have a financial
interest in the sale; does not prohibit other assistance programs provided
by nonprofits funded by other sources, churches, employers, or family
members. This prohibition does not go into effect until October 1, 2008.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;
&lt;li class="MsoNormal"&gt;
&lt;span style='font-family: " color: black;'&gt;
&lt;a href="http://www.homeloans.va.gov/"&gt;VA&lt;/a&gt; loan limits &amp;ndash; temporarily
increases the &lt;a href="http://www.homeloans.va.gov/"&gt;VA&lt;/a&gt; home loan
guarantee loan limits to the same level as the
&lt;a href="http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177937,00.html"&gt;Economic
Stimulus&lt;/a&gt; limits through December 31, 2008.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;

Authority &amp;ndash; authorizes $10 billion in mortgage revenue bonds for refinancing

In its first years, the Trust Fund would cover costs of any defaulted loans
in &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Georgia,serif; color: black;"&gt;
&lt;a href="http://www.fha.com/"&gt;FHA&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style='font-family: " color: black;'&gt; foreclosure program. In
out years, the Trust Fund would be used for the development of affordable
housing.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;
&lt;li class="MsoNormal"&gt;
&lt;span style='font-family: " color: black;'&gt;

Funding &amp;ndash; Provides $4&lt;b&gt; &lt;/b&gt;billion in neighborhood revitalization funds
for communities to purchase foreclosed homes.&lt;/span&gt;

originator licensing and registration system (and requires a parallel
&lt;a href="http://www.hud.gov/"&gt;HUD&lt;/a&gt; system for states that fail to
participate). Federal bank regulators will establish a parallel registration
system for &lt;a href="http://www.fdic.gov/"&gt;FDIC&lt;/a&gt;-insured banks. The
purpose is to prevent fraud and require minimum licensing and education
requirements. The bill exempts those who only perform real estate brokerage
activities and are licensed or registered by a state, unless they are
compensated by a lender, mortgage broker, or other loan originator.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Georgia,serif;"&gt;As a real estate broker in the
residential sector, I of course am all for legislation that will hopefully at
least help to get things truly moving again.&amp;nbsp; This bill certainly offers
some benefits that if you qualify for the why not go for!&amp;nbsp; With any luck
this bill will not only help prevent further foreclosures but will also
stabilize housing prices and values.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Georgia,serif;"&gt;Now... not to play devils advocate
but I also like to understand all of the potential consequences of not only my
own actions but those effecting me, my family, my friends, my kid, my nation...&amp;nbsp;
So I have done some reading from those who question

quest for knowledge I ran across an article written by

Cederholm&lt;/a&gt;, who brings attention to the snowball effect that is rolling
through the mortgage industry and real estate markets across our country.&amp;nbsp;
He nut shells the financial picture of what has been happening and how it has
taken on a life of it's own and likens
&lt;a href="http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:HR03221:@@@D&amp;amp;summ2=m&amp;amp;"&gt;HR
3221&lt;/a&gt; to an "umbrella in a hurricane".&amp;nbsp; Easy read and makes you think.

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Georgia,serif;"&gt;Continuing along that same line of
things that make you go hmmmm... I ran across this video which again got my
wheels spinning.&amp;nbsp; Seems to me that our country in between the proverbial
rock and hard place... and in so many ways!&amp;nbsp; I could seriously digress so

      <title>North Carolina 3rd Best State for Business!!</title>
      <description>&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;According to Chief Executive
Magazine&amp;rsquo;s 4&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; Annual &amp;ldquo;Best &amp;amp; Worst States&amp;rdquo; survey, North Carolina is
the #3 state to do business; coming in behind Texas &amp;amp; Nevada primarily due to
their lack of a state income tax.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Michigan, California and New York were
listed as the worst 3 states for business due to the struggling auto industry,
and high regulation respectively.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;605 top executives were asked to grade
each state based on the following: 1) Taxation &amp;amp; Regulation, 2) Workforce
Quality and 3) Living Environment.&amp;nbsp; Some of the criteria included: proximity to
resources, state regulations, tax policies, quality of education, quality of
life and infrastructure.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;North Carolina got "B+" for Taxation &amp;amp; Regulation and
Workforce Quality and "A-" for Living Environment.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Fed prepared to drop interest rates again...</title>
      <description>Bernanke Prepared to Cut Key Rates Again
Federal reserve Chair Ben Bernanke told the House Financial Service Committee during an appearance on Wednesday that the Fed is prepared to lower key interest rates again to bolster economic growth.
The Fed "will act in a timely manner as needed to support growth and to provide adequate insurance against downside risks," he said.
Bernanke was asked when he thought the housing market might stabilize. It's possible, he said, that by "later this year it will stop being such a big drag directly" on the economy. But home prices probably will decline into next year, he added.
"It is very difficult to know, and we've been wrong before," Bernanke said.
