Barnegat begins it's annual 'Click it or Ticket' campaign Monday. From May 23rd until June 5th Barnegat Police are beefing up patrols and instituting check points, all to educate the public about the importance of wearing seat belts. This is an annual initiative, funded in part by the New Jersey Division of Highway Safety. Last year, 406 state and local police departments throughout New Jersey participated in the program. They handed out more than 35,000 tickets for failing to wear seat belts. Each ticket results in a $46 fine. Remember New Jersey law requires everyone in the car, even back seat

The polls open tomorrow, Tuesday November 2nd at 6am, with voting til 8pm. In addition to local candidates, southern Ocean County voters will select a congressional candidate to represent us in Washington from the 3rd district. As autumn approaches, we have to say good bye to one of my favorite summertime staples in New Jersey...the Jersey Fresh Farmer's Markets in Barnegat, Manahawkin and Tuckerton and Waretown.True, Jersey Fresh items will be available through the fall at Herberts Market in Waretown on Route 9, and the B & B Market in Little Egg Harbor, on Route 9 just south of Great Bay Boulevard but you won't have a chance to talk to the people who raised the corn, tomatoes, peaches, zucchini, peppers or eggplant. It's located off of County Road 554 (West Bay Ave) almost across from Mirage Boulevard. Cloverdale Farm Park is open from dawn to dusk, and provides a wonderful opportunity do to some hiking, photography, birding or just plain relaxing! Cloverdale Farm used to be an operating cranberry farm, and as fall approaches that's evident.
