Beach replenishment at the Jersey Shore got a big boost this week when the State Supreme Court overruled a $375,000 award in a Harvey Cedars beach replenishment case, saying the project in fact provided benefits to the property owners. A state appellate court had ruled last year that the borough pay $375,000 to the couple to compensate them for having a portion of their property taken for the Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment project, partially obstructing their ocean view. Little Egg Harbor officials have been discussing a possible revaluation or reassessment of all Township properties for months, now the Ocean County Board of Taxation wants officials to act. The Ocean County Tax Board has notified Little Egg Harbor Township that an order of revaluation could come later this year as a result of a continued decline in property values.
