What if Little Egg Harbor Had an Election and No One Came? 
It happens almost every year on the third Saturday in February.  A little known election in being held tomorrow in 79 towns throughout New Jersey.  It the annual fire district elections, electing fire commissioners and levying taxes for equipment, buildings and fire fighter gear.There are only 79 municipalities in the state with fire districts (out of 566), so there not much attention paid to this oddly timed balloting.  Here in southern Ocean County, Little Egg Harbor is the only community with a fire district election tomorrow, February 20th.There are … (4 comments)

Hi, we’re from the government and we’re here to help! A scary statement for New Jersey taxpayers.
While many problems require government assistance I’m not here to debate when and where state or federal action is needed.
Here in New Jersey, a panel of legislators has approved a measure to make mortgage lenders pay $2,000 before taking a homeowner with a sub prime mortgage into foreclosure. 
Is it too little to late, or too much all together?

Wishful Thinking In New Jersey  
            It's May 19th and Governor Corzine is still hoping the New Jersey FY 2009 Budget will be adopted by June 19th.  Based on the past performance of the New Jersey Legislature, that's unlikely.
 
            Right now it seems to boil down to a few issues, including municipal aid, retirement incentives for state workers, proposed cuts to health care programs and increased school aid.
