realtors: Top Ten Reasons...You Know You're A REALTOR If...(Humor) - 10/17/11 05:52 PM
You Know You're a Real Estate Agent If... 10. Starbucks is your favorite restaurant. 9. You hold open houses just because you want to be able to check all of your emails and post blogs about how ineffective open houses are. 8. You take a listing but tell your seller from day one that the asking price needs to be lower, and you keep telling them this throughout the listing period. They get mad and when the listing expires hire another agent and lower their price to what you told them. 7. You yell at your computer when no MLS photos

realtors: Is NAR® Really Working for Me? - 01/13/11 05:58 AM
Is NAR® Really Working for Me? The National Association of REALTORS® is continuing in 2011 to use our $20. community awareness fee to tout the benefits of home ownership. Continuing to call it the American Dream, NAR® has designed TV and radio ads saying: "There’s a reason home ownership is called the American Dream. People aspire to home ownership for the financial and social benefits it conveys. Our government supports home ownership because it’s good for communities and the nation’s economy." This message fails to recognize that the American Dream has turned into a nightmare for many, and it sounds out of

realtors: Finally A Message I Can Support - 09/24/10 05:37 AM
I have never been a big fan of the National Association of REALTORS® advertising messages. 'It's a great time to buy' or 'interest rates have never been lower' really provide no real information about us, REALTORS® or why we are important to the home buying or selling process. That's why I've got to give props to the New Jersey Association of REALTORS®. In this short video, NJAR explains what we as REALTORS® do everyday and our value in the process. . .

realtors: Video Cameras & REALTORS - Perfect Together? - 08/18/10 09:15 AM
I've been reading about and shopping for a video camera. I've read a lot here on ActiveRain and in other places that a video camera is practically a necessity. I've visited all kinds of wesites, and googled every word I could think of. That's when I came upon this little gem on YouTube... . . I might not be buying a video camera until the pools are winterized!

realtors: REALTORS® - We're Our Own Worst Enemy! - 03/18/10 10:49 AM
Are we our own worst enemy?I had a conversation with a buyer client last night. We've been looking at modest acreage (8 to 15 acres) in south Jersey. This is a dream buyer; cash and quick closing. We've made several offers, some very low, and have dealt with several selling agents. His question to me last evening was "How can the National Association of REALTORS® tout using a REALTOR®, when these people (REALTORS®) really don't seem to care?"This question came after the latest shenanigans on the property he's interested in. We wrote a contract last weekend for less than asking, with a couple

realtors: Money for Nothing...The Recipe for Success? - 03/06/10 04:26 AM
ActiveRain members have a lot to say about how we, as REALTORS®, can better our image with the public and be recognized as professionals. Well, we might be fighting an uphill battle! In one of my local daily newspapers, a headline in the weekly real estate section caught my eye. "Are you ready to become your own boss through real estate?"I had no problem with most of the article...statements like "Real estate can be an exciting profession..." or "Helping others achieve the dream of homeownership is not only emotionally fulfilling..." Yada, yada, yada! What really bothered me were the statements about being a

realtors: New Jersey's Continuing Education...Exemptions? - 12/07/08 06:49 AM
New Jersey Association of Realtors (NJAR) President Drew Fishman recently offered some clarification on the NJ Real Estate Commission (REC) flip in its position supporting continuing education requirements for NJ Realtors. Appearing at last week’s Atlantic County Women’s Council of Realtors meeting, Fishman said the REC wants to exempt its members from the continuing education requirements. This follows its approval of the recommendations by a joint study committee made up of Commission appointees and NJAR. Those recommendations were outlined in New Jersey Catches Up With the Nation. “NJAR does not support these exemptions from the proposed law. We

realtors: NJ Catches Up With the Nation! - 11/04/08 09:16 AM
New Jersey Moving on REALTOR® Education... The New Jersey Association of REALTORS®(NJAR) and the state’s RealEstate Commission (REC) have come up with a compromise plan that might actually bring New Jersey’s continuing education (CE) policies into the modern world.New Jersey is the only state in the nation that does not require continuing education for real estate licensees. A new day is dawning and it looks like the NJ Legislature will amend and consider a bill this year or in early 2009 to remedy the situation.Barebones bills were introduced last spring by both the Senate and Assembly Majority Leaders requiring CE for

THE BATTLE OF TRENTON CIRCA 2008 As required by the NJ Constitution, Governor Jon Corzine delivered his new budget (Fiscal Year 2009) to a Joint Session of the New Jersey Legislature the last week in February and the next few months promise to be battle filled.
