taxes: Taxes Can Alter Your Loan Pre-Approval...Been There! - 05/19/11 03:40 PM
You've got your mortgage pre approval and you've decided on a home. You don't plan on buying a new car or doing anything drastic to alter your credit rating. Clear sailing right? Before you sign on the dotted line, find out from your mortgage professional what property taxes he's (or she's) figured in for your home loan. In today's housing market, we're seeing almost all homes for sale priced under a town's assessed value. And Jersey Shore short sales and bank owned homes are priced well below assessed value. That could mean you've fallen in love with a short sale

taxes: New Jersey's Public Finances-See for Yourself! - 04/27/11 08:00 AM
New Jersey's Public Finances-See for Yourself! New Jerseyan's want transparancy in government. So, as promised, Governor Chris Christie recently launched a website that provides the public with data that makes it easier to understand New Jersey’s public finances. Included on this website, www.YourMoney.NJ.Gov, is an interactive map that displays the Garden States’ 3.1 million property tax assessment records. With the new property tax feature, you can check individual records in your town or community, jump from record to record and compare assessments and taxes from one town to another. Records detail the address, block and lot number, property class, owner

taxes: Change for the Sake of Change? - 11/04/09 05:32 AM
The votes have been counted…it’s official. New Jersey has a new Governor-elect, but exit polls reveal Garden State voters have little hope things will change! Republican Chris Christie out polled incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine in voting yesterday with members of both political parties saying their most important concern was the economy and jobs. Second on their list of concerns is New Jersey’s high property and income taxes. What’s most interesting though is that when asked who had a viable tax reform proposal, New Jersey voters said no one! So is the outcome of this election change for the sake of change?

taxes: Hi, I'm From the Government...here to Help! - 10/14/08 09:40 AM
Hi, we’re from the government and we’re here to help! A scary statement for New Jersey taxpayers. While many problems require government assistance I’m not here to debate when and where state or federal action is needed. Here in New Jersey, a panel of legislators has approved a measure to make mortgage lenders pay $2,000 before taking a homeowner with a sub prime mortgage into foreclosure. Is it too little to late, or too much all together? The proposal was part of a bill designed to slow a surge in foreclosures hitting the state because borrowers cannot afford

taxes: Governor Corzine an Optimist - 05/19/08 10:22 AM
Wishful Thinking In New Jersey It's May 19th and Governor Corzine is still hoping the New Jersey FY 2009 Budget will be adopted by June 19th. Based on the past performance of the New Jersey Legislature, that's unlikely. Right now it seems to boil down to a few issues, including municipal aid, retirement incentives for state workers, proposed cuts to health care programs and increased school aid. Governor Corzine is proposing offering retirement incentives to some 3,000 state employees. The Administration claims that will save $135 million. The Legislature worries that while there will be an initial

taxes: THE NEW BATTLE - 02/29/08 08:21 AM
THE BATTLE OF TRENTON CIRCA 2008 As required by the NJ Constitution, Governor Jon Corzine delivered his new budget (Fiscal Year 2009) to a Joint Session of the New Jersey Legislature the last week in February and the next few months promise to be battle filled. In his budget message, Governor Corzine outlined his spending priorities for the upcoming year calling for cuts in state spending by $500 million. The Governor's proposed budget contains no new taxes or fees. The good news is that there was no mention of increasing the Home Sales Tax, AKA the NJ Realty
