In Tuckerton on Saturday enjoy a parade from the Village Shoppes on East Main (Route 9) down to the Tuckerton Seaport beginning at 10am. At 5 pm at the Seaport there will be activities for kids, with fireworks over Lake Pohatcong at around 9:15. As autumn approaches, we have to say good bye to one of my favorite summertime staples in New Jersey...the Jersey Fresh Farmer's Markets in Barnegat, Manahawkin and Tuckerton and Waretown.True, Jersey Fresh items will be available through the fall at Herberts Market in Waretown on Route 9, and the B & B Market in Little Egg Harbor, on Route 9 just south of Great Bay Boulevard but you won't have a chance to talk to the people who raised the corn, tomatoes, peaches, zucchini, peppers or eggplant.

A Statue Stands in Tuckerton, NJ!
When I first moved back to southern Ocean County many years ago, the statute in the middle of Tuckerton was always a bit of a mystery to me.
It sits on a small island on Route 9, where the state highway and Great Bay Boulevard intersect, in between the Tuckerton Seaport and Lake Pohatcong.
The statue is a tribute to those who gave their lives in World War I, and was erected by the Improved Order of the Red Men.

Tuckerton’s single family residential unit inventory was down marginally in October, 2008 when compared to September figures. And new listings also dropped slightly.
Prices remained stable for those listings reaching the closing table, while prices for newly listed homes dropped a bit.

Sea captains and pirates, long lost to the Atlantic, will wander the Seaport’s Boardwalk for an evening of scream filled fun! The Haunted Seaport begins at 6 and runs to 9pm. Admission is $5.

Halloween is my favorite time of year! And the reason is not only the numerous showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The primary reason these days is the Jersey Devil, who makes (made) his home in the NJ Pine Barrens!
Never heard of him? Well he’s also known as the Leeds Devil, and is rumored to be the 13th child born to old Mother Leeds.
The story goes like this…
Mother Leeds had 12 children and after giving life to the dozen, she said if she had another it would be the Devil.

Fall has arrived at the Jersey Shore! The fall/winter clothes are out of storage and the comforters on the beds.
Being close to the Ocean, we enjoy a few extra weeks of warmth here at the Jersey Shore. But temperatures are cooling.
Summer is my favorite season, though the crowds at the Jersey Shore can be trying at times.
What I’ll miss most…
