Take your own advice, Counselor...You wouldn't refer a Real Estate Attorney for that DUI. - 05/30/11 11:24 PM
My brother is a hot shot Dallas attorney.  I always love when friends will tell me they saw his name mentioned in "Texas Monthly," "D Magazine," newspapers or other publications.  He makes the lists...Rising Star, Best Under 40, etc., etc.  He's built his practice defending mostly white collar criminals and people who get caught with the wacky tobacky. He's definitely made a name for himself.
Ask him about what you should do if you get a DUI and you won't find anyone to give you a better answer.  Ask him about what to do if someone tries to claim 3 acres of … (4 comments)

Guadalupe River and Comal River in New Braunfels, TX Conditions and Recommendations from a local. - 05/29/11 01:25 PM
If you're planning on hitting the Guadalupe River or Comal River in New Braunfels, TX this Memorial Day weekend, you should be aware of the river conditions and take some recommendations into consideration.
Because of the lack of rain we've experienced, the Guadalupe river is flowing below 64 cfs, which means LOW and SLOW with walking in very shallow areas. There are many areas along River Road where you can "anchor" your tube and enjoy deeper water, but for a longer float, expect to walk as many areas are shallow. I recommend putting in somewhere around the 2nd crossing if you … (0 comments)

I found my New Braunfels, TX Home Inspector Right Here on ActiveRain. - 05/26/11 05:46 PM
I found my New Braunfels, TX home inspector right here on Active Rain! Today I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and working with Carl Winters of Complete Inspection Service, New Braunfels, Canyon Lake, San Marcos, Texas home inspections. I've been following Carl and his wife, Ceil's blog here for awhile and decided to add him to my list of inspectors.

As always, I gave my buyer the list of inspectors to choose from and she chose Carl. Carl was extremely thorough and taught my client all about heat pumps, emergency heat, evaporator coils, Hardy-plank siding, soil expansion, etc.  She … (3 comments)

It's a Done Deal...Shag Walls and All! - 05/23/11 10:29 PM
My favorite part of the job is when my buyers' loan funds and I can give them the keys.  Today the title company called to say the loan had funded and I knew my clients couldn't wait another minute, so I told them to go get them!
By the time I arrived an hour and a half later, they had the locks changed and most of the carpets ripped up.  The house is a 1976 ranch in a desirable, established neighborhood close to New Braunfels High School, Landa Park and Panther Canyon. Locals describe the neighborhood as "on the hill"...as in we just bought a home … (4 comments)

Selling Real Estate is SIMPLE, not EASY - 05/14/11 04:52 PM
Selling real estate is SIMPLE, not easy.  Boy, I sure wish it was easy.  Easy money and an easy job is what everyone wants!  I think there is a common misconception that real estate agents only stick a sign in the yard, open a few doors, fill out some paperwork and get paid a really big salary.
Selling real estate isn't easy but it is as SIMPLE as:
Knowing the contracts, addenda and amendments backwards and forwards.
Knowing changes to contract, updated forms, new laws, new disclosures.
Keeping track of all the time lines of the contracts...miss them by even a minute and the … (33 comments)

This Must be the Stuff the Ancients called Rain... - 05/12/11 12:18 PM

Well, well, well, the skies decided to open up today all the way from the Valley up to Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos and surrounding areas and send some wet stuff down on us.  I believe the ancients called it "rain???!"  My Facebook feed is all a twitter today from my Texan friends thanking the heavens for the much needed rain.

Should I Buy a San Marcos, Texas Home for my Texas State University Student? - 05/08/11 12:05 AM

Should I buy a home in San Marcos for my Texas State University student? I work with many buyers in San Marcos Texas who are in the market to purchase a property for their college student.  Does it always make sense?  Here are my suggestions of things to consider when investing in real estate in San Marcos.
1. Evaluate the market.  More than likely you will own the property for 4-5 years while your student is attending the university so find out if it will make sense to buy instead of renting.  Consider not just the entire city of … (0 comments)

Get your next do at William Edge Prodegy Salon New Braunfels, Tx - 05/06/11 09:20 PM
by Laurie Jarrett, New Braunfels REALTOR® and local enthusiast Choosing a new hairstylist is not my idea of a favorite thing to do. I stayed with my old stylist for almost 10 years and drove an hour and a half to get to her. That’s how loyal I am. But, with the price of gas being more than a gallon of milk and my time being fairly valuable, I decided that I would once and for all find a stylist in New Braunfels. In choosing a new salon, I had a few criteria: close, clean, affordable, able to book an appointment quickly, … (0 comments)

Spruce up your Home with New Braunfels Remodeling - 05/04/11 11:57 PM
I secretly want to be able to build anything.  Ok, well, it isn't a secret.  I'm intrigued by the smell of lumber and a great hardware store.  I walk into ACE or Home Depot, take a deep breath and my feet magically take me to the power tools.  Some may say I've spent WAY too much time watching HGTV and the DIY network for my own good.  I did, after all, choose a career in real estate after being addicted to House Hunters for several years. I scour home improvement blogs for tips on how to refinish furniture, paint a wall stencil, … (0 comments)
