I have often said that we hit a bottom but I wasnt sure if we would bounce along the bottom and go up or bounce along the bottom and drop off a cliff.
Here’s an opinion from someone smarter than me:

...as the Great Depression of the 21st Century Begins...
...Stock is now trading at $9.15 after dipping under $9.00. Thus Wells Fargo joins GE as a penny stock.
I might add that I used to bank with Wells Fargo but when I tried to get a loan for a used car ( a piddly $4000.00) they turned me down. I went to B of A and they gave me money for 3 cars. I switched to B of A.
UPDATE: WFC is now $11.14 -- Did I call the bottom? Is Lazarus a Contrary Indicator? ( I dont think so … (9 comments)

and remains in a solid DOWNTREND

I am going to say it here. ( I have been saying it privately amongst my friends and family).
Yesterday upon market close I said to myself "it's here, we're in it now"
We have entered the "GREAT DEPRESSION" of the 21st Century.
Let's not forget folks, I was nearly a year early in announcing the Official Beginning of the Recession.
I would have posted this on my Blogging Broker site first but Im having problems with it :(

Finally they see the light!
Accordingto this Reuters News Article the recession begain in December of 2007. This would make my declaration of the Official Beginning of the Recession about a month off.
Why rely on these numbers crunchers to inform you a year after the fact?

First, a reminder for those of you missed it: Lazarus announced the recession before Bush and Buffet. So, when I announced the recession I said I would not be buying Starbucks beans until its over.
Ok, not only am I not purchasing Starbucks beans, recently I decided to give up their formula for a perfect cup of coffee. Starbucks recommends that you brew your coffee using 2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water. I am convinced that the success of Starbucks has been, in great measure, simply due to the fact that they brew their coffee very strong.

America's Billionaire next door, confirmed yesterday what I (Randy "Lazarus" McAtee) announced on January 14, 2008:
" ...the U.S. economy is essentially in a recession even if it hasn’t met the technical definition of one yet" (stated buffet on Monday)
The Oracle of Omaha had a significant advantage over me in that he made his announcement after reviewing the recent performance of the many businesses in his holding company Berkshire Hathaway.

I am marking today’s date, January 14th 2008, as the official beginning of the recession. I’m certain it is because just a little while ago I was headed to Starbucks to buy some coffee for the office and just when I would have turned left to go into the SBUX lot I turned right instead and went into Savemart - yes, you heard me right: Savemart. I decided I would buy some Folgers instead.
