home staging: Fresh incentives to boost sales sought, Myrtle Beach Sun News Article May 2nd, 2010 - 05/05/10 03:51 PM
I really appreciate this article that the Myrtle Beach Sun News wrote about the real estate industry. Myself along with other top real estate professionals all pitched in to help compose the article. Now that I am a Realtor, I appreciate now more than ever, feed back from other professionals and takes on what is working to boost sales. home staging: Be a lean mean money making machine! - 10/26/09 05:10 PM
I love blogging...it gives me time to reflect and think about work. As a mother of 5, I often find myself putting "ME" last. All you Mom's out there know what I am talking about. It seems like a never ending cycle of dishes, cooking, cleaning, homework, taxi service to all kid's activities and ALL while managing your own business. I found myself in a RUT! I wasn't making anytime for me and I was suffering for it. I was gaining back the weight I had worked so hard to lose. I wasn't sleeping well. I felt on edge all the … (17 comments)

home staging: Awwwww, that's nice, but NO!!! - 10/18/09 06:01 PM
Please take the magnets, pictures and drawings OFF the refrigerator!
As a Mom of 5, I totally understand all the love and special things that are proudly displayed on the refrigerator.
As a home stager, I cringe when people expect to show a property with ALL these things displayed to the potential home buyer. Remove all items from the exterior of the refrigerator. Rather than have a buyer remember all your lovely kids, dogs, great Aunt Sally and cousin Lou along with what sporting events your kids will be at the next month, let the refrigerator blend into the room as part of the … (42 comments)

home staging: Stage the exterior for under $50 - 10/17/09 07:24 AM
Anybody can dress up an entrance or yard by simple adding a seasonal display outside. This will make the home seem warm and inviting. Don't forget those potential home buyers are already forming opinions as they are pulling up to the house. Having an inviting display outside of the home can give the potential home buyer the "warm fuzzy" feeling right from the start. Setting the tone when showing a home starts the entire emotional attachment. So when you are staging a home, don't forget about the outside too!
This is a quick and easy display that you can duplicate under $50. … (17 comments)

home staging: Don't forget to stage that garage!! - 10/16/09 12:48 AM
Let's face it, most garage's end up being an endless overflow of junk accumulated through the years. From tools to furniture everything can be found there. Staging the garage is not only a great time to de-clutter and make things easier for the move, but it can also create additional revenue that you weren't expecting!
The garage is one of the rooms that frequently get overlooked and yet have a big impact on the sale of the home. Cleanliness is first priority. Since the garage is typically not clean and full of junk when a potential home buyer sees a garage … (20 comments)

home staging: 5 Major Tips to Keep Your Decor Hot! - 10/03/09 11:19 AM
1. Don't go cheap.
Higher Cost of Materials Per Square Foot: High end hotels are doing it and so can you. Skimping on walls is a fools mistake in the eye of the decorative painter. Major...no, no!
2. Save busy finishes for small areas. You don't want a large area to be distracting!
Simplistic elegance. While some finishes look great in a photo or on an accent wall, a powder room or niche, they do not belong in large areas. The look of busy elaborate finishes such as distressed walls and brick showing through can be an eyesore!
3. Don't do accent … (5 comments)

home staging: Fall weather brings new home staging clients! - 09/29/09 04:55 AM
With cooler weather approaching here in Pawleys Island, SC, it seems people are staying in more and focusing on all the upcoming seasons. For home staging here locally, that means business is picking up. As the end of the year approaches and all the holiday seasons ahead of us, I think people are putting together new plans to sell the house that has been sitting on the market "not sold" for the year. People are looking for new ways to get that house sold. This is the time of the year where I really kick up my advertising. I feel like … (1 comments)

home staging: Make it happen, there is business out there!! - 09/25/09 12:43 AM
Do you ever find yourself in a rut? Sometimes it seems like business comes to a stand still, especially in this economy. The best thing you can do is "make it happen" for yourself.
There are so many things you can do to promote yourself that are relatively inexpensive. One of the things I recently did paid off for me. I designed and ordered 1000 great postcards from Vistaprint.com for less than $80. I targeted "For sale by Owners" and rode neighborhoods looking for my prospects. I put a postcard in each box that had a FSBO. I know...lots of stops; chances … (16 comments)

home staging: Stage that kitchen, please! - 09/24/09 01:43 AM
The most important room in a home to stage is the kitchen
The Kitchen is the central hub for the entire family. We eat in the kitchen, we cook in the kitchen, hang out in the kitchen many time homework at the table in the kitchen. Why wouldn’t you focus on this room? Especially, when Mom…the real decision maker spends a majority of her time in there. The kitchen can be an absolute deal breaker in the sale of a home. It can also be the place where little attention is paid to details. If you are selling your home and … (4 comments)

home staging: Surround yourself with positive people and watch the success flow!! - 09/21/09 02:37 AM
Surround yourself with positive people and watch the success flow!!
There are enough critics out there so never criticize yourself. You can't please everyone and you can't let what others say affect your day! Staying positive has a profound affect on your success...in your work, your family, your friends and ultimately YOU!
Home staging has its ups and downs just like every other business. For me, it's much more about my performance and delivering the best results possible to my clients. I am so blessed that my work is my passion and I enjoy what I do. If I ever get … (12 comments)

home staging: In a slow real estate market, Staging is a MUST! - 09/20/09 07:42 AM
In a slow real estate market, Staging is a MUST!
If the real estate market is slow, staging is a must! Home prices are lower than they have been in years, if you want your listings to sell; I highly recommend having a professional home stager assist you or your client with the home. Statistics show (in my local market) that a stage home sells 33% faster than a home that is not staged. Not only will staging help you create a positive first impression quicker but it will also assist you in selling it for top dollar.
Don't be fooled....HOMES … (15 comments)

home staging: Why Staging the bathroom is so important! - 09/19/09 07:46 AM
Bathroom decorating/home staging is so important. Bathrooms help sell homes, especially the master bath. Make sure you clean out ALL the clutter!! You ALWAYS want to have your master bath sparkling clean, windows and mirrors included. Add a simple flower arrangement, fragranced soaps and a few new spa towels and you have it! Remember if you have your home for sale, people are there to imagine themselves in the house so remove the personal items. A simple, clean look always works. Don’t forget to light a few scented candles! Neutral paint choices in the bathrooms please! Potential buyers can always add … (6 comments)

home staging: Tips and ideas to keep in mind while decorating a girls bedroom! - 09/17/09 06:16 AM
Girl's rooms are fun!! Remember to mix patterns, textures and colors. Girls grow up quick and they change their minds like the wind. Choose colors that can be changed easily. I love to use contrasting colors on the walls and the bedding. The green color choice in this picture can easily be changed in a few years by adding all white bedding with some splashes of color for accessories easily converting this little girl's room to older, young ladies room that will carry her through several years. Night stands should always flank the beds. This is great for storage as well … (5 comments)

home staging: Realtors~ Do you bite your tongue or tell them the truth?? What do you do when you KNOW your home seller needs their home staged?? - 09/15/09 03:07 PM
This is a very common problem and can be delaying the sale of the home on the market. Realtors can be in a very delicate situation when you KNOW your client desperately needs their home staged. You don't want to offend your client in fear of losing the listing or creating bad feelings. You need that client to believe in you! What do you do??
Bring in a home stager!! We deal with this ALL the time. We know how to handle things and to gentle push the client into staging their home. As an unbiased third party, who does not yet … (2 comments)
