MidAmerican Energy recently placed the largest order to date of onshore wind turbines, as reported in the Des Moines Business Record. The 258 massive, 2.3-megawatt pinwheels will be churning clean energy in Cass, Adams, Marshall, Calhoun and Adair counties in 2011. These are in addition to the hundreds of turbines that already dot our state.
Opinions may differ regarding the impact wind turbines have on Iowa's landscape, but there is no arguing the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy for our state.

I had the opportunity to meet the superintendent of Waukee Public Schools  last week and was stunned by the past, current and projected enrollment numbers for k-12. As a father-to-be living in the Waukee school district as well as a realtor whose main client base lives in the western suburbs of Des Moines, I have a keen interest in the school system.
