Now’s your chance to get into the holiday spirit while learning to make a wreath! The John C. Campbell Folk School is having their annual Wreath Making get-together, Thursday, November 29th at 7pm in the Community Room, Keith House. You’ll learn to make decorative holiday wreaths with the supplies provided by the Folk School. All the wreaths created will be used to beautify the Folk School during the holiday season. Well, it’s auction time here at the Folk School and we are gearing up for the Annual Gala and Benefit Auction at the John C. Campbell Folk School this Saturday night, June 9, 2012 and starts at 5 pm. Last year’s Gala was amazing and this year’s improvements will make the event even better. For the first time this year they will be adding an online auction to the festivities. The weather just couldn’t have been better in the NC mountains than it was this past weekend for the 38th Annual Fall Festival at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC!Held every year, the first weekend in October and one the most longed for events in the tri-state area. Lee and I hadn’t been in a few years and were really looking forward to attending this years Fall Festival and we certainly weren’t disappointed. There were over 200 booths filled with some of the most beautiful arts and crafts from so many talented artisans. Oh, what a great place (5 comments)

The barn has hay bale seating so you might want to bring a blanket or lawn chair. The Blessed Blend composes and performs music, blending Native American and Celtic sounds creating a harmony of tribal music from these two ancient and still thriving indigenous cultures. Just incase you missed the world famous Possum Drop out at Clay’s Corner in Brasstown, NC, just sit back for a spell and watch all the fun you missed… CBS Sunday Morning was there to share with their viewers and came appropriately dressed for the spectacular event. This year's festivities to welcome in the New Year will start at 10 pm and will last until the Possum is lowered at midnight and then the fireworks display begins as we’ll usher in 2011. Word around town has it that the film crew from the CBS television show Sunday Morning will be filming so you might just end up being as famous as Clay Logan, owner of Clay’s Corner and originator and creative director of the Annual Possum Drop. It was a beautiful sunny and blue sky day as my cousin from Maggie Valley, NC stopped by for a visit. We had a great lunch at the Italian Cafe and then headed over to the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. We spent lots of time in the Gift Shop and picked up some watercolor note cards by Margo Locke, and various other pottery items.
