Our favorite weekend dinner spot is the Italian Caffe in Murphy, North Carolina. You’ll find all the traditional dishes and of course the best pizza in town, but the Italian Caffe also has the best steak dinner in town too.
Piero (Peter) Perna, Owner/Chef, and his lovely wife Pietra, serves up such a huge cut of steak that Lee even shares his cooked to perfection broccoli and baked potato with me - even though my fresh pasta Fettuccini Alfredo is more than I can finish anyway.

The King Kong Zoological Park here in Murphy, NC had two male Siberian Tigers born on Saturday morning at 3:42 a.m.. The mother is a Orange Tiger named Juliet and the father is a White Tiger named Romeo. The orange cub is a little larger than the rare all-white one.
Owner John Curtis took time out after giving a tour of the Zoo to some people visiting from Florida to tell me more about the tiger cubs. His father, Stan Curtis, showed me the photo albums of John throughout the years growing up around and with lions and tigers. The … (11 comments)

Coldwell Banker High Country in Murphy, NC had a great turn out for the Caravan today! The weather was gorgeous as twelve agents headed out to preview some of our great properties here in Murphy, North Carolina.
We saw some great homes – from Log, Townhouse, Traditional and Craftsman style to a very cute HUD home. We even checked out a couple of awesome view lots in the Highland Creek Subdivision with septic systems already installed! We even had time to take a break out on the deck of one of the river homes.

This is also a good time to change the batteries in your carbon monoxide and fire detectors.

While driving around Murphy, NC you start to wonder just who named all these roads. Here are just a few we came across one day while previewing some homes…
Now coming from Miami, FL any place call Roach Cove Road sort of gives me the willies. Of course we’ve not really seen cockroaches here in the mountains and this road is named, as many are, after the family’s name.

One of the best things about living in Murphy, NC is all the great surrounding areas that make for some great daytrips. We just had one over to Highlands, NC just about an hour away from Cherokee County, NC. Highlands is a beautiful area and they have one of the nicest downtown areas to park and stroll along all the unique shops and restaurants. But those are for another post about our daytrip.

We’ve had such a great time watching all the firework displays in Murphy, NC and over in our neighboring GA and TN mountains. The whistles, cannon–like sounds and colorful fireworks bursting in the sky unite us all as we celebrate Independence Day.
