lee and carol barbour: Speechless Sunday in the western NC mountains - I can't see you - 05/06/12 12:35 PM

Speechless Sunday in the western NC mountains and just over the NC/GA state line we came across this little guy - hey, don’t call him shorty!
Well, whatever his name was he was the cutest and curious little horse. I guess he could still see us with all that mane because he kept following us back and forth the fence line. There are some great Farms and Horse Properties here in the mountains!

lee and carol barbour: They found their mountain get-away in the Hayesville, NC mountains - 05/01/12 08:02 AM
Tom and I would like to take time to express our sincerest appreciation to Carol & Lee Barbour. We were fortunate enough to see a property for sale on another realtor’s website that we were very interested in.  Tom had talked with Carol about some other properties and was very impressed with her professionalism.   So we called Carol about the property and immediately she jumped into action.  I’m certain without her prompt attention we might not have gotten this property.  We are very grateful we got The Mountain Living Team as our Realtor. She made a very tense time much easier. … (6 comments)

lee and carol barbour: We can all celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day! - 04/22/12 06:10 AM
This Sunday on April 22, 2012 we celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day! The following statistics are eye-opening, to say the least how just little changes can impact our world. If everyone went vegetarian just for one day, the U.S. would save:● 100 billion gallons of water, enough to supply all the homes in New England for almost 4 months● 1.5 billion pounds of crops otherwise fed to livestock, enough to feed the state of New Mexico for more than a year● 70 million gallons of gas--enough to fuel all the cars of Canada and Mexico combined with plenty to spare● … (5 comments)

lee and carol barbour: Take a day off for Golfer’s Day in the western NC Mountains! - 04/10/12 06:26 PM
Celebrate Golfer’s Day in the western NC Mountains! Some avid golfers might suggest that any and every day is Golfer's Day. But on April 10th, it's official. The only question is, does this day honor the golfer, the sport, or the weather? Well, it's a little of each. Golfer's Day is an opportunity to be thankful that someone invented this addicting, yet relaxing hobby. Also referred to as "Golf Day", there is only one proper way to enjoy this day. And, that's out on the golf course - of course.

When Golfer's Day falls on a weekday - which it … (2 comments)

We finally made it into our "dream home in the mountains" of Murphy, NC thanks to the tremendous help of Lee Barbour.

lee and carol barbour: Happy Vintage Valentine’s Day from the Murphy, NC Mountains - 02/14/12 08:35 AM
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Murphy, NC Mountains.During the late 1800s, postage rates around the world dropped, and the obscene St. Valentine's Day card became popular, despite the Victorian era being otherwise very prudish.  As the numbers of racy valentines grew, several countries banned the practice of exchanging Valentine's Day cards.  During this period, Chicago's post office rejected more than 25,000 cards on the grounds that they were so indecent, they were not fit to be carried through the U.S. mail.  In Victorian times it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine's Day card.  Here are a few not-too racy … (4 comments)

Another Speechless Sunday in the Murphy, NC Mountains...
We’ve finally started to get some winter weather here in Cherokee County, NC and at some of the higher elevations they can get much more snow than the valleys and downtown Murphy, NC.  The views from this cabin of the snow topped mountains are amazing - as they are during all the four mild seasons we get to enjoy living here in the western NC, north GA and east TN mountains. In fact, you can actually see all three states from up here on the mountain ridge.
