realtors: We had a great day at the first ever Georgia REALTOR® Rally! - 02/05/13 04:33 AM

We had a great day at the first ever Georgia REALTOR® Rally! On Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 800 REALTORS® congregated on the steps of the Capitol in downtown Atlanta for the first ever Georgia REALTOR® Rally.

There was a sea of Realtors all wearing their blue scarfs and standing out. Georgia REALTORS® rallied together to support efforts to protect private property rights.  At the Rally attendees heard from numerous Legislators including Governor Nathan Deal, House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams, and Senate President Pro Tempore David Shafer.
After the Rally we met with Legislators individually inside the State Capitol. … (4 comments)

realtors: Sharing our Murphy NC Thanksgiving Traditions and what are yours - 11/15/12 11:13 PM
With Thanksgiving just around the corner and making our grocery shopping list; it got us thinking about the “traditional” things we do in our family.

For our Thanksgiving celebrations I always display the Hall Autumn Leaf dishes from my paternal grandparents and it gets displayed on the old kitchen table from their home in Miami, Florida.  Without this treasured tradition, it’d be like not having pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving if we didn’t have the Autumn Leaves out.

How can some old dishes bring back so many memories each year... tell us what some of your “traditions” are … (12 comments)

realtors: Happy Vintage Valentine’s Day from the Murphy, NC Mountains - 02/14/12 12:35 AM
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Murphy, NC Mountains.During the late 1800s, postage rates around the world dropped, and the obscene St. Valentine's Day card became popular, despite the Victorian era being otherwise very prudish.  As the numbers of racy valentines grew, several countries banned the practice of exchanging Valentine's Day cards.  During this period, Chicago's post office rejected more than 25,000 cards on the grounds that they were so indecent, they were not fit to be carried through the U.S. mail.  In Victorian times it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine's Day card.  Here are a few not-too racy … (4 comments)

realtors: Just Sold in Murphy, NC...and my surprise delivery - 07/18/11 08:22 AM
We’ve been working with a great young couple for their first home here in Murphy, NC. Of course we’ve seen a lot of homes and one they even made an offer on, but it had some issues in the inspections and mold. So we kept looking and saw some very nice home, but not quite the one with the perfect setting and home that they could add their own touches to and have a spot for her to turn pottery.

Well as they say, good things come to those that wait (and keep searching), the perfect home we did find. … (12 comments)

realtors: Does Murphy, NC have some strange road names? - 08/31/10 12:12 AM
While driving around Murphy, NC you start to wonder just who named all these roads.  Here are just a few we came across one day while previewing some homes…
Now coming from Miami, FL any place call Roach Cove Road sort of gives me the willies. Of course we’ve not really seen cockroaches here in the mountains and this road is named, as many are, after the family’s name.

Way down into the woods was Break Wind Ridge. I can just see us giving directions to our mountain cabin in the woods and telling everyone to just follow Breaking Wind … (4 comments)

realtors: We Miss Our Little Kittens - 11/01/09 01:10 AM
While going through some pictures looking for our son’s old Halloween costumes we found these photos of our little kittens. Brandon had always wanted a cat so when we moved to Murphy, North Carolina and got settled in, we set out to pick him out a little kitten. The couple we got the kitten from said “Oh, please take his little brother too,” and who could resist. So home we went with Tigger and his little brother, Eore – who of course was the sister – not the brother. So here we have Lucky and Bob-O. Aren’t they just so cute? … (21 comments)

Not sure that it was his favoriteHalloween costume, but it was his Mom’s. It was great fun seeing all the adults and children around todaycelebrating a little early in their costumes. Have fun and be safe!
