Wake Forest NC is a small town right outside of Raleigh NC with a rich, historic background!  Many people to this day still confuse the town of Wake Forest with where the Wake Forest University is located.  Unfortunately, that is not the case.  The University moved to its current location in Winston-Salem, NC back in 1956 but that’s another blog post altogether.

Wake Forest has easy access to downtown Raleigh NC via Capital Blvd or US Hwy 401.  This close proximity allows many of Raleigh work force to escape the city and enjoy a quieter lifestyle in their personal time. Durham NC and RTP (Research Triangle Park) is also a relatively minor commute under 30 minutes.  Many residents of Wake Forest NC work in RTP and Durham. Starting in January 2010 the Town of Wake Forest NC will be forming small focus groups to discuss what exactly is meant by "small town charm" and "small town character".  You hear so many residents and visitors refer to our town with those phrases that in an effort to truly learn what those terms mean the focus group idea was born.

So, I was out and about today running some errands and found myself on Highway 98.  The little stretch that runs between Wake Forest NC and Durham NC with gorgeous view of Falls Lake along the way.
Low and behold I look to the right and there they were clinging to the rock face just mining away!

wake forest nc: Wake Forest NC - Christmas Tree Recycling Starts Mon., Dec 28th - 12/25/09 11:08 AM
Starting this Monday, December 28th, the Town of Wake Forest NC will begin its Christmas Tree Recycling Program. 
If you are a resident of the Town of Wake Forest NC and your yard waste is collected by the Town then you may participate in this "Treecycling" program.  Trees will be picked up on your normally scheduled "yard waste pick-up" day.  Please remove all ornaments, tinsel, garland, lights, stands, bags, etc from the tree and leave at your curbside. 
All trees in the "Treecycling" Program will be ground into mulch which will them be available to residents of Wake Forest NC … (13 comments)

American Legion Post 187 is hosting it's All You Can Eat Sausage and Pancake Breakfast and Santa will be there! You'll find Sausage, Pancakes, Orange Juice and a Hot Beverage for $5 per person or $20/max per family. The proceeds from the breakfast will support community and veteran projects.
The breakfast will be served from 8am - 1pm.

With the weekend winding down and the temperatures reaching 90 degrees we decided to venture out for a little cool spot and the Holding Park Community Pool fit the bill perfectly!

Holding Park Pool is one of the largest outdoor public swimming pools in the area - the 50-meter pool is open in the summer and offers "open" swim times, swim lessons, lap swims, parent/toddler swims and water aerobics!

It was a wonderful week in Wake Forest, NC this past week and ended beautifully with a gorgeous day for Father's Day!  I hope all of the fathers out there had a fantastic day spending it with loved ones in special and memorable ways!  I know that we did - fishing at Falls Lake - it was relaxing, quiet and a ton of fun.

The Finley's discovered a great little hidden pond yesterday afternoon.  I am almost embarrassed to say it is only 1/4 mile from our home.  We took Tug for a walk yesterday and met quite a few new friends while there!  Liam met some new friends and joined in fishing, Tug enjoyed the lake and Jon and I enjoyed the scenery!Forgotten Pond is located within Heritage in Wake Forest NC.  They have several pavillions with benches making afternoon picnics wonderful!  Benches line the pond, there is a turtle observation deck and a wonderful pier for fishing!  Check out our afternoon - it … (11 comments)
