Starting over every year,  that's what most of us do.  We set our goals and sometimes we make it and sometimes we don't.  No matter what the situation, we start over and most of us start with nothing.  Most everybody starts each year off at the same place chasing a similar dream.
Wouldn't it be great if you were able to start off the year with 25% of the income you earned the previous year. Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about.
Just an example 
Year 1 - you earn $100,000

Tips:
1. Establish professional friendships before you recruit (networking groups etc...)
2. Keep your friends posted on the profile you're looking for
3. Develop a communication system (phone, email, mail, personal visits, seminars...)
4. Stay in contact with your friends
5. Send the latest industry news to your friends, especially new trends in the industry.

It's just amazing that we all go through life and we develop a story.  Some of us try to alter our story by doing things we shouldn't be doing.  The reality is that our story is already scripted.  Our role is to play the part we've been assigned.

OK you get calls from recruiters in the Real Estate field.  How do you feel about getting calls from people outside the Real Estate field?  Occasionally I get calls from people trying to get me to leave the profession I'm in to do their deal.  I'm just imagining that Realtors get calls, email, post cards and other forms of communication from recruiters from various fields.

What will our children think about the days we're living in?  What will they say about how we as parents handled tough times?  We can give them something great to think about.  Today our son who is 21 is wondering how we manage to do so well when many of of his friends have parents who are having tough times.  Please understand, our family has faced tough times.  Even today my wife is totally disabled because of renal failure(18 years) and two strokes.  My life is full pretty full. What we don't know really can hurt us. Have you ever thought that you knew something and came to find out that the knowledge you had was at best limited?  That's happened to me more than once.  One of the ways I find myself protecting myself against what I don't know is including people in my network that know more than I do.

Don't you just hate getting traffic tickets? - 03/20/08 11:19 PM
On Sunday I was driving home and as customary I entered the left hand turn lane to make a left turn to enter my driveway.  The difference on Sunday was there was an orange cone about 18 inches inside the left hand turn lane.  A police officer was directing traffic as a clean up crew was just finishing up sweeping.

Being honest is a way of life in business. It's expected behavior from our clients, and everybody we do business with. Inherently we know that, "honesty is the best policy."  I like to say it this way, "honesty is the only policy."  Can you hear the "but" coming on?

I've been high and I've been low.  I've experienced working with the best and working with the not so good.  I've been the go to guy and I've been the guy people would run from.  The point I'm making is people experience ups and downs in life.  The ups aren't always guaranteed to be the best experiences but the downs are certainly not always the worse experiences.  The fact that we come out of experiences learning something is what we should be thankful for.  At least that's the way I view it.

I know that many of us have taken surveys online. I've just started using surveys more seriously these days and have been getting some pretty good results. From a "recruiting" perspective I've been able to get a better feel for the prospect by having them answer a few questions before we actually talk on the phone. On the other side of things I think it gives them an opportunity to determine if or not they even want to talk with me. It's proven to be a really good filtering system for them and for me.
