IT CAME THROUGH ABOUT 2:00 P.M. TODAY, THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2008.
The sky darkened. The wind picked up. Then I heard it hitting the house front and back. Good grief! I thought the hail was going to shatter the windows. This was the worst hail storm I've ever witnessed. It lasted about 10 minutes, then the wind died down, the sun came out and it was a beautiful August afternoon again.
It was 92 degrees. The wind was about 30 mph. The sky dumped 1/2 inch hail on everything.

ICE on the steps, making walking dangerious.
ICE ON THE TREES AND ELECTRICAL TREES AND WIRES that brought a major wire down in my neighborhood and caused a "widespread outage' (as stated by Dominion Electric).
Yep. My electricity went out yesterday, the 13th, about Noon and came back on today about 1:00 p.m. The ice presented some real winter scenes in my neighborhood. The phones are still out. Verizon's first trouble appointment … (15 comments)

OPEN HOUSE AT THE LOVETTSVILLE FIRE & RESCUE COMPANY WAS A GREAT SUCCESSThis friendly, efficient and valuable group of dedicated community friends has been in operation since1966. Sunday, October 14, 2007 was Open House and the volunteer squad welcomed local residentswith hot dogs and tours of the fire equipment. The event was, of course, a fund raiser, but these guysare a worth cause for my money. Shortly after moving in, I was visited by a member of the squad who presented me with glow-in-the-dark numbers for my house and a post at the end of the driveway.
