staging: Hold On Before You Move that Chair! If it's unreasonable, COUNTER IT. - 10/12/13 10:05 PM
WHAT????   Remove the staging before the home inspection??
This would appear to me to be something coming from a buyers' agent who wants to put the sellers on the defensive.
I'd simply ignore them.   If that's a condition of the Contract of Sale, it should be countered.
That's as silly as saying owners should empty a home before a home inspection.
Just silly??
Or a psychological power play???  An attempt to intimidate??   Mmmmmm.

staging: Is There Any Competition In The Staging Business?? - 03/23/13 10:13 PM
QUESTION:  My agent recommended that I have my house for sale staged.  How can I compare staging companies?
ANSWER:  We would recommend that you interview several staging companies and compare what they offer for their fee.
DO STAGING COMPANIES EVER COMPETE WITH EACH OTHER??
DON'T BOTHER LISTING WITH A REAL ESTATE BROKER, JUST STAGE IT AND IT WILL SELL!!!!
Sounds absurd, doesn't it??  Yet, that's the logical path when staging companies make claims that the reason a home sold is because it was staged.  That claim is quite dismissive of the listing agents who consulted, listed and managed the transaction.

A post this morning got my attention with a title that referred to a survey by Homegain about staging and Realtor opinions.

staging: You Don't Need A DeLorean To Get Back To The Future. Home Buyers Don't Need Staging - They Have Imagination!!! - 04/08/12 09:24 PM
IS THIS (DeLorean reference) A MISPLACED METAPHOR???  In fact, wasn't the DeLorean an unmitigated commercial failure??
O.K.  Many members are aware of my resistance to the entire home staging industry.
I have never, for the life of me, witnessed a serious home buyer influenced by staging.  Over-done staging is often a barrier for buyers.
Buyers just arent't that ignorant.  They are, in fact, often distracted by the staging in a home for sale.  But, once I explain that the property has been "staged", we move on and look at the house. Home buyers are, in my experience, quite capable of "seeing … (8 comments)

staging: Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County- Why are You Making Your Buyers Wonder and Wander Through Your House? - 08/04/11 12:06 AM
Fill up those boxes with excess "decor" and get to the Salvation Army.
It's refreshing to see a home for sale wherein the staging doesn't detract from the home.
What do prospective home buyers want to see?
Room dimensions
Traffic flow
Natural light available
Permanent window treatments, blinds, etc.
Quality and condition of flooring
Is the room functional (for any specific purpose?)
Accentuate the positive and don't create distracting "eye catching" decorating.  Let the beauty and functionality of rooms display themselves.
