Connecticut Mortgages - Connecticut Home Loans - 07/30/07 10:25 PM
Connecticut Mortgages When you are shopping for a mortgage here in Connecticut you should consider all the options available to you as a borrower. Your mortgage consultant should be someone educated in the mortgage business and someone who knows the products available to you to help guide you to the right final mortgage choice. The rate is not the only thing to consider when getting a mortgage, some of the things to consider is the cost over the life of the loan and the best value for your situation. The lowest rate does not always mean the lowest cost. For example: Here in CT CHFA offers (1 comments)
Another Lender on it's way out? American Home Mortgage - 07/30/07 04:21 PM
Is American Home Mortgage Next? I have been following this company for a few years, why? Because I worked for them for over 3 years and I really loved the company, they were great to work for and had some excellent products. AHM had some outstanding technology and marketing systems. In a nutshell I thought AHM had it all.... I would have not left if it were not for the promises made by Wells Fargo to get me to join their company, they blew so much smoke it was not funny, after a few months of courtship and promises (unfilled) of the Great Name Wells (5 comments)

With now a reported 105 Major SubPrime Lenders Lenders Shutting Shop (http://ml-implode.com/) We all see that the subprime market got what they deserve. We all want to help people buy their own home but how do you lend 100% financing to a person with 500 FICO scores and not think you were going to foreclose on that property shortly down the road? Let's be realistic, you have a person with a 500 FICO score they have collections from just about (47 comments)
Mortgage Shopping and Mortgage Rate Shoppers - Connecticut Mortgages - 07/27/07 04:27 PM
I get calls all the time asking " what is your rate" , I am sure everyone in the mortgage business get's these calls daily as I do. People who are calling every lender in the local phone book or shopping the internet should be educated on how to shop for a interest rate before they start dialing every mortgage company looking for the lowest rate. People need to ask every lender they talk to the same questions or they may get different rates for the same products. Compare apples to apples. I have a list of about 10 questions I offer shoppers to (0 comments)

Whats up with this weather? What a very strange summer. I am home working and the rain just starts pouring down, now my wife has me turn on the TV and we are now in the middle of a Tornado Warning right here in Litchfield County moving towards Waterbury/Bristol/Southington/Hartford New Britain. As I type the Thomaston Police are saying a tornado has touched down there. One day it's 65 degrees and the next it's 90 degrees and today Tornado's, what is going on with our weather. (2 comments)
Time Management A Problem? - 07/18/07 08:20 AM
One of my biggest faults is time management I get so consumed in my daily work and distractions that I often find myself looking up at the clock and it's 4pm and I had not done 50% of what I set out to do at 8am. A couple of weeks ago at a company gathering we talked about what our biggest daily issues were and I explained my problem with time management. One of the guests at the meeting offered to send me a copy of a book by Todd Duncan called " Time Traps", I received the book last week (3 comments)

There are also plenty of corporate earnings releases scheduled for the stock markets this week along with the minutes from the last FOMC meeting. Throw in a couple of days of Fed testimony and we have the makings for a very interesting week. The first piece of data comes Tuesday morning with the release of June's (3 comments)
Orbitz ---- Don't Trust them! Beware Of Orbitz and their False Advertising! - 07/15/07 02:42 PM
I wanted to share the nightmare I had with Orbitz this past week. I am on vacation in Florida and this all started last Tuesday night when as usual I check into a hotel at Bradley airport where I ALWAYS take advantage of their "Park and Fly" program. The "Park and Fly" makes it very easy to travel since I almost always take the first flight out in the morning, my wife and I check into the hotel the night before, get a wake up call, have a continental breakfast and they provide a shuttle to the airport all included for (11 comments)
How Mortgage Rates are Set - 07/08/07 08:50 AM
One of the main things that you might have always wondered about is how mortgage rates get set. Well, you do not need to wonder any longer. Let's take a much closer look at really how mortgage rates are determined. The way that the secondary mortgage market works, through companies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, is when government founded agencies buy loans from lenders. They will either hold these loans in portfolios or put them with other loans into mortgage backed securities. The securities are sold to Wall Street firms, mutual funds, or other types of financial investors. Although you (1 comments)

Mortgage rates - 07/02/07 08:04 AM
This week brings us the release of very few economic reports for the markets to digest. There are only three monthly reports scheduled for release that are likely to affect mortgage rates, but one of them is arguably the most influential single piece of data that we see each month. This is a shortened trading week with the markets closed Wednesday and an early bond market close Tuesday in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The first of the week's three reports is of fairly high importance to the bond market. The Institute of Supply Management (ISM) will release their manufacturing (0 comments)
