Zipping through Hawaii - 12/28/11 09:56 PM
Over the past four months I've thought of participating in a challenging physical, and mental experience. It's been on my mind like a child waiting to open a present, the anticipation and unknown was a driving force for me to attain my goal. I've thought about this experience with long awaited hope, wondering if I could really do it. I'm sure you're wondering what I so much wanted to do so badly, well today I finally did it. I drove up to the high mountain slope in Hawaii this morning, wanting to be part of the group that could say, "I did it!" I rode down the gulches (28 comments)
Mele Kalikimaka from Hawaii 2011 - 12/25/11 08:50 PM
Mele Kalikimaka from Hawaii 2011 Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaiian for Merry Christmas. Christmas is a time of giving and sharing with family and friends. After a late Christmas eve, we woke early this morning to watch my young cousins open their Christmas presents. My cousin Charlotte prepared a filling breakfast, and our our entire family attended church services in Honokaa Hawaii. A young parishioner was baptized and confirmed, with his entire family in attendance. Over 50 of my family and friends partook in our Christmas lunch. After a short nap, it was the perfect time to watch the Green Bay and Chicago football (10 comments)
12 Days of Christmas Hawaiian Style - 12/24/11 10:05 AM
Hilo Hawaii is my birthplace, a place that I frequently refer to as home. I love going home to Hilo, it reminds me of my carefree childhood days. Celebrating Christmas in Hawaii is different from other US cities. Here people enjoy frolicking on the beach during the day and listening to Hawaiian Christmas music under star filled skies at night. Many of my childhood days were spent in a small town on the opposite side of the island. Puako is located on the Kohala Coast. Its nearby beach, Spencer Beach Park, still remains a popular beach attraction. My parents would frequently take us from Hilo to Puako on an endless trip (3 comments)
I'm Home for Christmas - 12/22/11 02:19 PM
Before leaving Arizona, I spent hours spent responding to emails. My husband and I had our prioriorties. We packed golf clubs and clothing and forgot the presents; our packing was simple. My online contact was limited during the flight from Phoenix to Honolulu. Upon arrival at Honolulu International Airport, I received an offer on one of my listings. I presented the offer to the seller and the negotiations began. The flight from Honolulu to Hilo was short but with turbulance. Visibility was scarce. Although we had showers, the rain welcomed me, a Hilo wahine home. After picking up our rental, we drove from Hilo to Waiamea. (4 comments)

Sushi, Bedsheets and now Taro ~ ActiveRain does it again! - 12/18/11 02:53 AM
A year ago I wrote a blog on ActiveRain about My Aunty Margaret's Taro Farm in Waipio Valley Hawaii. I frequently receive peculiar telephone calls. Callers ask for sushi in Surprise, Coco’s Restaurant, Sun City Grand garage sale items and now it's taro; all were topics in my ActiveRain blogs. My Aunty Margaret grows taro on her farm in Waipio Valley on the Big Island of Hawaii. Taro is primarily used for making poi, a starchy staple served at Hawaiian luaus. It’s also used in making taro chips, a sweet chip with similar crisp to a potato chip. A few days ago I received (7 comments)
It's a dog's life - 12/17/11 10:21 PM
Before leaving for a listing presentation, I was engrossed in wrapping gifts and addressing Christmas and Hanukkah cards. In my rush, I tore open two paper bags allowing them to drop onto the floor. In seconds my dog began playing with the brown paper bag, as a child would an empty box. After a few minutes without noise, I glanced down to check on my dog. There my dog lay cuddled in the middle of the package, as though the brown paper bag was his doggy bed. Maybe he was thinking of his next dastardly attack. Dogs are perfectly content just to lay there without a care in the world. I (11 comments)
My 69th SALE in 2011 - 12/17/11 01:01 AM
Internet research is sometimes extremely information on nights that I can’t sleep as with last night. It’s always interesting to see various writing styles.
After just 4 hours of sleep, I met a client for lunch. I received a call from escrow as I was leaving the restaurant, my transaction recorded. This is my 69th closed transaction in 2011; it's just me, I'm not a team or have an assistant. I proceeded to the listing agent’s office to pick up the keys. My buyers met me at the property and were ecstatic as they opened the door to their new home. It’s (11 comments)

Odor and Germ Eliminator - 12/03/11 02:16 PM
I love to eat kim chee. Kim chee is a pickled fermented cabbage, hot spicy and smelly. Michael Constantine who starred in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, constantly used Windex for all odors and ailments. The movie reminds me of what I use to eliminate pungent odors. There is one product that I feel removes almost any odor. No, it’s not Windex. It’s called OdoBan. My colleague Bonnie Miller who works the Sun City Arizona market introduced me to Odoban a few years ago. OdoBan is great to spray after cooking, in golf shoes, on carpet, and walls. Pet odors are minimized, (5 comments)
