I received the January issue of The National Notary, published by the National Notary Association. In it (on page 24) is an article about opportunities for notaries who know a foreign language.
I agree that knowing a foreign language can be a benefit. I've even submitted a few articles on this (0 comments)
Can I notarize a document for a Spanish-speaking person, if Spanish is the language they will be speaking, but I don't know Spanish?

Yes. Without a doubt. At some point in our career we will find ourselves in a situation where the knowledge of a foreign language will be very helpful. And in some cases, necessary. Most of the requests that I get to notarize foreign language documents are for German documents, since German is the language that I know. This morning I got a call from a Russian man, asking if I would notarize his signature for a Russian document. Of course. When I got there he showed (9 comments)
